Stay away from Provident Bank in Toms River. My parents went to close their CD on 6/19, but because…read morethe bank was closed for Juneteenth, my parents had to take care of their CD on 6/20. They had a 10 day grace period to do so, and the 19th was day 10. The bank did not take the holiday into consideration in terms of the 10 day grace period. This was never stated on the CD renewal reminder. Because of this, my parents acquired a $450 penalty fee which upset them quite a bit. Because my parents are older and partially disabled, my sister and I went in today to understand the entire situation. We were told that my parents should have come in on 6/18 to take care of their CD. Well, that's only an 8 day grace period. The banker(Danielle Cali)went in the back to call her manager and came back to tell us she needed the CD money back. She even loudly disclosed the amount, so that other customers could hear. That is private information that should not have been exposed. When we told her that the money was put in another bank, because who keeps large amounts of money at home, she began screaming at us, telling us to get out of HER bank, and if we did not leave, she was calling the police. For what? For asking question? We were very civilized towards her. As I was trying to thank her for her time, she continued to yell in my face and so did a male banker from behind the counter. It was humiliating on our part and very unprofessional on their part. I am still in shock that we were treated so inhumanely. My poor mother was trying to leave as fast as she could, even though she can only walk with a cane. I felt so bad for her. If I knew these 2 bankers were going to react this way, I would have never gone in and just allowed my parents to take the $450 loss. As children age, taking care of their parents is the right thing to do. We tried, and look what happened. It was a very barbaric reaction, leaving a very traumatic effect.

i live out of state but i received a td personal check that was a td check and from that branch…read more when i went to cash it i was told there was a $10.00 charge because i don't have an account. i don't understand if it's you're check, you're branch, and you would be able to tell if there's the money in the account, no risk to the bank then why should i loose $10.00 for no reason other than you screwing a non customer. so i informed the person that gave me the check and they are pissed and will be closing their account. called customer service and was told that i should go back to the bank and talk to the manager, why should i be inconvenienced to waste my time and there is no guarantee they would waive the fee?????

I made the mistake of going back here only to have someone nearly collide with my car on the way…read morein. This vehicle then pulled in after me and started an ATM transaction. I mentioned something to them about it and he left, but then sat in his SUV for several minutes, appearing to wait for me. Was he trying to intimidate me? I couldn't be sure, but if so, it was working. I did not feel safe leaving. I let the security guard know that I felt unsafe. The whole bank literally took it as a joke. This is interesting for several reasons. No one knew how much cash I may or may not have had on me, and if I, also a female customer alone, felt unsafe leaving because of some road-raged person, or worse, I know this bank did nothing to make me feel valued or protected. I would not recommend this bank to anyone, or want my daughter, mother or grandmother to come here, or ever return. Chase does not take your safety seriously.
