No matter where you're from, this is three star hotel at best ......there was was mold all on the ceiling and the walls of the bathroom and we had the "top of the line" Superior Deluxe room. Right, sigh. There's no fan, vent or windows in the bathroom so that's probably why, but it's visible black mold and a lot of it. You'd think they would try to clean the surface and paint over it but nah they want you to know your shacking it up with mold. The furniture was visibly scuffed up and unappealing- If you care. They had a flat screen TV and there's chairs outside of each room door and the rooms were massive so yay for space to do a cartwheel and burpees The pillows were nice, the fan and aircon worked there was a mini fridge and a safe, meh. We were here for three nights..too many imo. The front desk was nice and housekeeping request were fulfilled fast. Assuming you stay out of the rooms this place is a gem, the fountains and the pool are lovely but once you include the molding underwhelming guest rooms this place is in the three star hotel category.

We had the breakfast which is such a great deal. When we wanted to go exolore the city a little bit Enrique got us a map and detailed some places we wouldn't want to miss. We really appreciated his english as well. an On our last afternoon there, we got an in-room massage from Sophia who also has good English. It wasn't the absolute best massage I've ever gotten but the price was right. Overall I'm very pleased with this little gem. The ambiance is great.

I took videos and photos to share with family and friends of how beautiful it was. The owners are very nice and welcoming. Also, I wanted to share that after 3 days of leaving this place I noticed that a pair of gold earrings where missing. We contacted the Villa Merida, since that was the last place I remember I had them. The owner responded quickly to let us know that he will be asking the staff. After few days and we were already back home (LA), the owner contacted us to let us know that the earrings were found and that he would help us to have them back. Most shipping companies don't allow you to send gold, we also, don't know or have friends in that city so to get them back was complicated. Finally, the owner found out that one woman that was staying at the Villa, was a flight attendant living in LA. He contacted us immediately to see if we were OK, to have them returned with her. I can't thank enough the owners of the Villa Merida for everything. We will definitely return and recommend this place.

The mansion dates back centuries and was transformed into the grand family home you see today during Mérida's golden era. What makes staying here especially wonderful is that the family connection continues. The great-grandson of the original owner personally greets guests as they check in, and in the morning he is often there in the beautiful open-air rotunda, graciously making his way from table to table to see how everyone is enjoying their stay. That kind of hospitality simply cannot be manufactured. And the mansion itself is glorious. The rooms are extraordinarily elegant, with exaggeratedly high ceilings, beautiful architectural details and the wonderful sense of scale that only a true historic mansion can provide. And, on a very practical note: GREAT water pressure! Anyone who travels frequently in Mexico will appreciate just how noteworthy that can be. The location may be equally perfect. Mansión Mérida sits beside Parque Hidalgo, one of the cultural gathering places in the historic center, surrounded by magnificent architecture and just steps from the cathedral, shops, galleries and some of the best restaurants in Mérida. You can walk almost everywhere you want to go. There are many beautiful hotels in Mexico. Mansión Mérida is something more--a magnificent old family home whose history, elegance and gracious hospitality are still very much alive. The beds were not very well taken care of with two flat sheets and no actual sheet to keep warm, my parents had to fix it twice during our stay.

Left early the next day and refused to pay. Stay away!!
