Dr. Deb Johnson is mostly mobile -- good because our young golden retriever dislikes office visits…read more I met her through a neighbor whose dogs she has tended over the years, including a 3 a.m. call to put down a suffering family favorite. A few weeks ago she came to check out our three dogs, give them shots, check their condition, examine some limping by a hyper two-year old golden. The dogs relaxed with her, ok -- she is handy with treats -- and she took time to observe them. When our 13-year old shepherd had trouble breathing a few weeks later, she was ready to to meet us on less than an hour's notice, referred us to specialists, reviewed X-rays, gave a referral to Appleton and several weeks later came within an hour of our call to put our wonderful dog down. Dr. Deb is smart, compassionate, knows her medicine (my partner ran pet stores, works with the Humane Society and is not nearly as ignorant as I am in these areas) and a delight for dogs and their owners. She is great.

Deb always gets right back to me when I call and leave a message. I feel she is up to date with new procedures and medications and gives a good explanation to any of my concerns and questions. Thank you Deb for your extreme concern for animals. We need more people like you. Tina Sister Bay, WI

This past March 2026 I went to them for urgent care with them for my current cat. I was in their…read moreparking lot and they wouldn't see me because my cat, though registered with them, hadn't been in to see them before this emergency. It states on their website urgent care. I was crying and pleading from their parking lot but nope, they wouldn't take him! It disgusted me! I never recommend them and if I hear someone possibly going to them I make sure to tell both stories about everything I went through both times! The first bad experience in December 2022 I posted this on Facebook and haven't received any response. I am still so sick about what we experienced! I also tagged Hometown in my post. I also spoke to two other vets (not mentioning Hometown) and both said this was not the norm, nor should it be and is not acceptable...3 euthanasia injections before he actually dies with the 4th injection! It's going over and over in my head and no response? I'm just sick, sick about it! Kim was very kind, concerned. I think she may have been a bit shocked to because she was there when Deano raised his head twice gasping for air! What a nightmare! So this happened during Deano's euthanasia! Hometown Veterinary Clinic LLC now known as CareVet Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Being told your pet was gone when he wasn't? They botched the euthanasia...said he was gone and would I like some time with him...they left the room and Deano's head came up and he struggled for air. His heart was still beating too! I rang the buzzer for them to come back and they were there when he lifted his head again and took a deep breath a second time! I told them his heart was still beating and it was. So they got another shot and that went bad, It missed and went all over his back leg. Deano took another breath. They got another shot and did it in his front leg. Deano took 3 breaths total when he should've been gone after the first shot. When the doctor came back I said, please make sure it's enough this time. The third shot now, (4 total with the anesthesia) And it was finally over. I cannot tell you how bad this freaked me out (which I mentioned several times while they were still in the room)! On my way home and pretty much all night, I had such a bad panic attacks. I couldn't breathe. My hands were shaky, I felt like I was going to throw up! I was so nauseous! I couldn't help but think of him trying to breathe. It was horrible...just horrible. I expected a peaceful end for both of us. I was told he was in fight or flight mode! Really? Do I want my cat to be in fight or flight while being euthanized? They said he didn't know what was going on! How do I or they know if he wasn't fighting for life? I'm just really shaken by what happened! I'm still so sick about it and still very much freaked out! My poor Deano! Heartbreaking to begin with and then this on top of it! How did this happen? I was told he was stubborn, he was a strong boy! That his heart must've restarted! Must've not used enough! I was in shock from all of it but still I cannot find ANYTHING that says any of this could possibly happen! Quite the opposite...that it never happens and it's one of the main concerns of the pets owner! I definitely don't blame the assistant...she's always been good, kind, etc. It's Dr Jammie that did the botched euthanasia! I never even thought it was a possibility after having 9 other animals put down without a hitch! Seriously, just sick about it! Just sick! They wouldn't even consider a partial refund for the botched job!

The best experience ever. I have been to many clinics, and this clinic is the best by far. Starting…read morewith Kelly at the front desk, easy to work with. The waiting area was quiet, clean and peaceful. Moved into a room immediately even though I was early. Jessica was my vet tech. She was awesome. She was professional, patient, smart and kind. I wasn't the easiest client, as I have a senior dog that I can't lose so I'm a bit over the top. She completely understood and made me and my pup feel comfortable. Later she took the time to show me how to give him SubQ fluids. My vet Megan spoke with me at length about tests, issues, treatments and options for my pup. She was so patient and so knowledgeable. Usually, you get a few minutes with a vet. Not here. Megan took so much time and answered my many many questions. I cannot recommend them enough. I feel like my senior dog, Sylvester is in the best hands and I feel like they took the time to help me understand about his health and care and most important... They really do care about you and your furbabies. Karen Knusta
