Yawn... mornin'. Coffee... NOW!!!! I'm an easer. If I had my way, I would ease myself into my day everyday. Best way to do that is to grab a cup of joe or tea, a creamy covered bagel, a good book; then sit back and relax. You can do that here. Think "Central Perk" (Friends show) meets island life. My cappuccino was smooth, my bagel (covered with a garlic cream cheese) was lip smacking good. They had free wifi and the employees were of the friendliest bunch. Awesome!! Great espresso, had an americano. Garlic cream cheese was SUPER garlicky. Cinnamon roll was incredible. Only complaint was roll wasn't heated up, I forgot to ask though. Wait was fine at 7:45 off season. read more

This is the spot on Ocracoke! It's just as much a social event as a place to get drinks & snacks! The local men meet up on the porch every morning, the baristas keep you entertained, there is a large room in the back to hang out, use the wi-fi and play games. The line can be long but they really keep it moving! Be patient and enjoy your island time. The smoothies are amazing and they can make any coffee drink you want! Anything you choose from the pastry case will be great! read more

Enjoyed my latte and muffin. I'm not a coffee connoisseur, but it tasted pretty good. Lots of pastry choices - wish I had a week to try them all. Line was a little slow, but lots of choices make it hard to move too fast. Lots of outdoor seating, cozy patio and open lawn. Indoor will be nice, too, when the pandemic ends. read more

This place really just hits the spot for a coffee house in the morning. Our camping group woke up early and we wanted to get some coffee and found this place in the village. The staff was super friendly, and they had lots of interesting drinks to offer. I ordered the Mocha Nut Latte, a creamy and smooth mix of chocolate, espresso and coconut syrup...very delicious. I also heard the lady behind the counter say the carrot was fresh and still warm, so I of course opted for that item too. It was so damn good. They also offer free wifi which is nice to have when cell coverage is very very limited. I will definitely stop at this place the next time I'm in Ocracoke. read more

Best place to start your day on Ocracoke Island ! I always choose one of there delicious smoothies and get a nice warm bagel with cream cheese. Also a great location for those that are lactose intolerant. My girlfriend who is intolerant to lactose gets two bagels with butter instead and she loves them ! It's a must for all that are staying on the island. Cheers ! read more

Outstanding Island Vibe! You may have to wait in line - generally between 8:30-10 but it's worth it! The breakfast nosh includes delicious pastries both savory and sweet. The coffee drinks are plentiful both iced and hot and fruit smoothies are a refreshing treat for those less caffeine inclined. The line can appear long but the service crew is fast, friendly and welcoming. It is a daily requirement for visitors and locals alike. read more

So disappointed to leave this review. It wasn't the 25 minute line to get waited on. It was the guy working there, who was so rude he bordered on being hostile, that will keep us away. We will get our coffee elsewhere. He seriously needs to learn some people skills. read more

oh this place. this will be a lot. the lines were insane, which says something about the quality. the service was fast once served, and the people were friendly and a lot of fun. there's no distinct order area, that's a little confusing. that area is also only for ordering drinks, and ordering food comes later. also, the menu is too hard to decipher, but the selection was huge. although, the tea selection wasn't disclosed so that's a missed opportunity. there were great milk alternatives. the chai (both hot and iced) was watery, essentially no caffeine in it. i still enjoyed it, but i'm not excessively picky. the cinnamon on top of both of our lattes was amazing. the cinnamon bun was delicious. the bagel was delicious. the decor inside is beautiful, with mismatched couches and rugs and tables. very eclectic. love it. even the duct work was beautified with some gorgeous wallpaper or something. the seating outside was GREAT, with different levels to sit at, lots of options from tables to standalone chairs to bar seating, to couches. a big ol' crape myrtle covers the porch seating and made it cool and pleasant. it's very much millennial coffee vibes with all the "but first, coffee" type signs inside. we get it, you're addicted to caffeine. boring. propaganda. this was emphasized by the whole line giving zombie, like guys. eat a solid breakfast and reevaluate. the other customers were plenty chill though. cute dogs outside. would go back!! read more

It's like a Starbucks only ALOT sweeter and beachy! The baristas are quick and personable, the coffee, drinks and smoothie selection is pretty big and the decor (minus that Boston "B" painting. GO Yanks!!) is homey and beachy. There is a lounge in the back with WiFi and they even have their own coffee blends. Drive your golf cart down Back rd and check out this little coffee shop tucked in the back of Ocracoke. read more

This place is everything you could want in an Ocracoke coffee shop and more. The coffee is excellent, and if you're an espresso lover the frozen espresso treats are great. The baked goods are to die for and they have lots of other breakfast options such as breakfast burritos and granola and yogurt. The staff is super friendly and efficient. The bathroom (1) is clean and nicely decorated. The whole place has such a great relaxed vibe that is so reminiscent of Ocracoke itself. Lots of outdoor seating (pups welcome), comfy indoor seating, great place for everyone. Definitely recommend this awesome little coffee shop nestled into the heart of the best place on earth. read more

We've come here for years and it's been one of our go-to spots but this was our last visit! We were a party of 6. We brought 2 couples from out of state, proud to share what we enjoy about Ocracoke. We made the mistake of waiting outside with partially empty coffee cups while part of our group was inside to get more coffee and pastries. The manager (I assume he was the manager because no employee would speak to customers like this and expect to keep their job)stood at the open door and rattled across the deck something like "because I serve alcohol in here, we can't have any outside food or drinks." (WTH...alcohol at 9am?) The way he did this was SO DEMEANING and we were pretty stunned. We were unaware of the policy and we were there to BUY coffee and pastries. I went inside to get my husband out of line and we all went to Magic Bean Coffee Bazaar which we thoroughly enjoyed! Thanks to you, RUDE MANAGER at Ocracoke Coffee. This is on the back road. It's a cool place that is off the beaten path. I wouldn't have found it without reading yelp reviews. I'm glad we stopped. My daughter got a fruit smoothie and my older son got a frozen coffee drink Both were very good and reasonably priced. This would be a cool place to hang out as it had comfortable furniture and a cool vibe. If you're a Boston Red Sox fan, you should go to support some of your own even if you don't like coffee. They also have really cool t-shirts and they're very soft. We didn't get any food. read more

Best way to start your day on the island! My first stop each morning on the way to my fishing spot. They have great coffee and smoothies. The atmosphere is everything you could want from a local coffee shop. Plenty of room, pleasant and quick service, and up tempo music to get your day started off right (different genres). There is plenty of seating both inside and out. The patio outside is nice and shaded as well for relaxing during the day. They also have a nice assortment of baked goods. I have not tried them, however they looked fantastic. Overall, just a great coffee shop. read more

Arguably the best cafe in the Outer Banks. I've been going here since I was little. If the line is long, wait it out. It'll be worth it. They have smoothies, coffee, tea, and assorted beverages as well as munchies like coffee cake and muffins. This is the only place on the island where I could find Orangina. I don't drink coffee, but the smoothies I've had here are excellent. Very fresh. You can lounge outside in one of the wooden chairs and use the free Wi-Fi or read a newspaper. Lots of people bring their pets here too. read more

Hands down, the best coffee, smoothies, bagels, pastries, and homemade cream cheese on the island! Well worth waiting in line for.. If you want bagels, make sure you go early because they run out quick! When we visit the island every summer, we go there just about every morning for breakfast.The fact that it is dog friendly is just icing on the cake! Can't wait to go back! read more

I can't quite express how wonderful it is to vacation on a somewhat remote island like Ocracoke without having to give up access to a good coffee house. I sampled the espresso, fruit smoothies and the "mocha freeze." Their espresso is incredibly strong, which I LOVE and the fruit smoothies are made with real fresh fruit. The best news is that if you're Vegan (like me) or lactose intolerant, almost every drink can be modified with soy milk to suit your needs. None of the pastries are Vegan friendly, but the bagels are tasty. Friendly staff. Plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. Free internet access. Get here before 9:30am during peak season to avoid super long lines. read more

Everywhere we go I seek out a favorite coffee shop. We usually have breakfast over coffee and a pastry and read the paper--the NY Times if we can find it. In Ocracoke, my favorite is Ocracoke Coffee Company. OCC is a bit off the beaten track under an awesome canopy of shade trees. The coffee was excellent, as were the pastries. I believe they come from The Fig Tree bakery, which is excellent, but OCC is a much better environment to enjoy their goods. There are inside tables and couches, like any self-respecting coffee shop, but also a large outdoor seating area that is, as I said, in the shade -- a premium at the Outer banks. There is also free Wi-Fi. We were there in August when the island was only moderately crowded, yet the morning lines were long. Better get there early in the full season. I try to save 5 stars for truly exceptional places and I'm tempted to give it to OCC. read more

My boyfriend and I recently vacationed in Ocracoke for memorial day weekend. We made sure to start every morning by hitting up this gem of a coffee shop. The double-brewed iced coffee is fantastic. The smoothies are delicious. We tried one frozen espresso drink - the milky way - which was rich but also delicious. The ambiance makes this great place even better. Locals sit out on the front porch and make going to grab morning coffee a community event. The baristas are very friendly and know how to make a great drink. There were a couple occasions when the line wrapped around the coffee bar but there were no complaints as everyone was just happy to be at such a great little coffee spot. The tight knit community and no-frills small business like this one make Ocracoke Island a truly special place. Large outdoor seating area. Free wifi. We rolled up in our gold cart to a casual garden style coffee house filled with customers' sitting on the lawn and swing. I ordered a peppermint mocha and a biscotti which were both good it was nice to enjoy the day outside. There was a bare feet hippie dude walking around, people were very laid back on the island for sure. At about 5 pm the coffee shop was closed and it probably opened back up at 7 pm was what I gathered. read more

Delightful coffee shop with lots of comfortable seating inside and outside. The employees were relaxed and cheerful, despite the crowd, and the music playing was an outstanding collection of classic rock. I had a cinnamon roll and a mocha freeze - both of which I recommend, but there were lots of yummy-looking things going by in the hands of other customers. Everyone seemed to be enjoying life on the day I was here, and I felt much the same way. Perhaps it's a beach thing? Regardless, I never wanted to leave. read more

First off... I'm not a coffee drinker. I normally go for hot tea but this morning I was feeling rather adventurous. My husband and I walked to Ocracoke Coffee company from the harbor (quite a nice stroll, btw) around 7:30AM. The line was a little long but it seemed to move at a reasonable pace. You can tell this is a local favorite because but the time we left the line was out the door. When I got my coffee I realized why. I got the Trail Mix Latte (I believe it was almond, macadamia, and hazelnut blends) and it was AMAZING. One of the major reasons I've been turned off by Starbucks over the years is I've found them to always be either too dark and bitter or overly sweet and rich. This Trail Mix Latte was the perfect middle ground for me. Not sweet but not so bitter I couldn't drink it. And JUST strong enough! I'll DEFINITELY be coming back! read more

This place is an island paradise onto itself, just across the road from the library and fire station, and a short jog off the main drag. There are decks outside with plenty of room to kick back under the shade of junipers. Inside the ambience befits the island setting - couches, soft armchairs and great coffee drinks. This is THE place to grab a coffee on Ocracoke Island. read more

History

Established in 1995.

Ocracoke Coffee Company started brewing coffee 20 years ago, but folks started sitting on our front porch long before then. Originally, the home belonged to long time residents Iva and Monford (affectionately known as Monk) Garrish. Even back then the front porch had a special alluring energy that would attract people to sit down, sip some lemonade, and tell stories. Iva was well known for baking hot milk cakes and sharing her strawberry candy with anyone who came for a visit. Monk was legendary for sharing stories while working on his big vegetable garden or opening up clams for dinner. While the house has undergone some changes and renovations over the years, we hope it still holds the magical charm for its many locals and visitors who come each day. Come, sit on the porch and share a story; Iva and Monk would be pleased to know the tradition lives on.

It was $20/person for the day, which wasn't a bad deal. Bikes were in good condition and I liked how some included baskets. The girls working were not friendly and had a terrible attitude for some reason. We also all ordered a smoothie to go. $8 for a smoothie that tasted like they did not use fresh fruits. It was bad and no one enjoyed their smoothies. We later stopped at a different smoothie establishment that only charges $6.50 and uses fresh fruits right in front of you! Maybe the ice cream is where it's at, but I would not recommend smoothies. I would recommend coming here to rent bikes.

The bartender our first night was friendly as were all the locals (shout out to Shannon and Benny!) who regaled us with stories about Ocracoke past and present. The experience the first night brought me back and I about broke the bank because they also have a ton of cute gifts and other goods. If you ever have the good fortune to visit, you gotta stop by. Hey, maybe one day I'll own it if they'll sell it...loved it that much! But be sure to check the hours as they are subject to change...you're on island time.
