Rick and I wrapped up a heavy day of sightseein, but we weren't ready to to just sit around the hotel all night. Since this place wasn't too far from our hotel, we decided to see a film. This place is basically the same as any other multiplex back in the States. It's part of a shopping center, so if you've seen a mall cinema in the U.S. then you've seen this one. We saw "Get Him to the Greek" which was hilarious. The theater itself is pretty clean and the help here is pretty friendly. Worth it if you're in the area.

You would hope the one upside to seeing a film at a cinema lacking all character and atmosphere run by a faceless corporation would be the cheaper prices. I could have seen the same film for far cheaper in the independent cameo up the road. Needless to say the actual cinema is pretty much like every other Odeon. I don't really mind it, you get to go underground which is quite cool. The staff are really friendly. Both the young girl who serves food and particularly the older woman who checks the tickets, are really chatty. Beyond that expect the same experience as anywhere else. It's lucky that its the film that really makes the cinematic experience. If the prices go up anymore, spend wisely and buy your own cinema.

I had my ticket booked online and picked it up via their online system which was easy to navigate and eliminated the need for any face to face contact. It's a smaller cinema, but I had no issues with seating and picked a great spot so acoustics and visibility were fine (though I did go in the middle of the day on a weekday!)

They have a great bar and cafe area, which also holds a film quiz each month (extremely difficult). The prices have been going up quite fast in the last few years, so I've gone somewhat less often recently, but the cinema is great. We actually went to see a 3D film. They have a large food court that serves coffee, cakes, ice creams, beer, wine etc.. which you are permitted to take into the cinema. Whoop! There is however no place, bar the floor, to put these said drinks as there are no holders in the armrests. My gripe is the seats, these are not very comfortable and smallish. In the lobby there is also the opportunity to buy DVDs of all genres and eras of films. Service is friendly and efficient.

We grabbed a wine and beer for £10, which was not bad. The cinema tickets were a bit pricier at £11.25 each, but you can easily see why once you've made your way to your seats. Each theatre only sits about 25 people. It pretty much feels like you're at a private home theatre. A few of the seats in the back were an actual couch for two people, which was nice for cozying up and really feeling like home. In addition, you also get complimentary Pringles --how cool! Anyway, the room is quite big for it's purpose and seats over two hundred people. The film quality was also quite impressive, and whilst the movies won't be the latest blockbusters, the choice of films on the society brochure is extremely diverse! During fresher's week, I also had the great experience of seeing one of my favourite Disney films, Aladdin in the courtyard! A bunch of us were huddled on the benches and the floor, with blankets and warm drinks. I believe they are a few screenings like this during the year, and I'd definitely recommend it, if it isn't too cold ofcourse!

It has become retro - not because they have slaved over the decor, but because it simply hasn't changed. The cinemas themselves are beautiful, the main one is huge with curving rows of seats. It's really nice to go to a traditional cinema now and again. They show all the new releases, as well as some less-known edgy indie films. There's something for everyone at the cameo. It's worth going to the Cameo to see that film that you were going to go to the Omni centre for . Why, I hear you ask? Why not? It's a different experience, same film. It's not that comfortable if the film is long, and the huge rooms make it easy to get cold, but it's really pleasant.

But in a good way. They have a mix of current blockbusters on show, like Inception, alongside arty and foreign films to suit the high-brow types. The downside though, is that with it being a smaller independent cinema it has much fewer films on show as the bigger ones do.

When you arrive you have to wait in their bar area. When your movie is ready, someone will come over to you to let you know which theater to go to. If the bar area is full, there are extra seats behind the stairs on the lefthand side. DO NOT SIT THERE EVEN IF THE BAR IS FULL. The staff will absolutely forget about you/ignore you. I had read on other review sites that you should show up early to put your food and drink order in for them to have plenty of time to bring it to your seat in the theater, so that's what I did, but it wasn't necessary. The movie didn't start at 7:30pm as advertised; it actually started closer to 8pm - they used that half hour for folks to scan the QR code/call over a server to put in their order. They WILL NOT deliver anything to you mid-movie, so put your order in for everything you want right away (even if it seems excessive). The cinema itself was super clean and comfortable. I like that the seating intentionally comes arranged as a pair or a single, so going to the movies by yourself feels a little less strange (the pair makes cuddling/leaning on one another easier too)! The mini tables on the arms definitely aren't meant for a lot of food, but if you're lucky you'll be able to snag both the right and left one for yourself. I had the fresh guacamole and tortilla chips; it wasn't especially good, but it was fun to snack on. They do have quite a few vegan options (the plant-based cheeseburger, the plant-based dog, the plant-based pizza, fries, olives, nuts, vanilla/banana/oreo shakes); next time I'll go that route! Beer, cider, wine, loads of cocktail options,soda, juice, coffee, and tea are all available. Absolutely will come back! (Especially now that I know how it works and it'll be like a thousand times less awkward.)
