So, first things first - I would not recommend the accommodations by Oead.
Although this review will be mostly negative, I will point out which things were good in the first part, too.
My place was what you would call "central", that was definitely a plus, the same goes for the house technician, who was (for the most part) available if you needed any help. Then again, the public transport is so well organised in Vienna, that you will have many opportunities to be fast anywhere, really.
However, I felt that they use the fact that they offer accommodations to foreigners to their advantage. And I'm sure this system works just fine, owing to the fact that tenants would probably not speak German perfectly and because of their young age they would not be understanding the full extent of their rights here. For example: There were drug addicts doing heroine here, and Oead did not inform us of this until we took action (even though this was an ongoing situation!). Personally I find this outrageous.
The other complaints revolve around the rent of that accomandation (around 500 Euros per month), that would suggest a great service. Because when I spoke to other people they paid 400 Euros for similiar conditions. My conclusion is: They did the littlest possible for the highest price. To make it clearer, let's put it like this - they promised an oven and we only had a microwave (and paid THE SAME as people who had an oven, not that there were many). They promised a coffee machine, when it really was a coffee filter machine - which again - is not the same. I know these are small things, but when you put them together this somehow does not feel right. In addition to this, I paid up to 30 Euros as banc service carges to Oead... which, is a very high price if you add it to the rent fee every month. Of course, I managed this with opening a banc account, but still it added to my bad feelings regarding Oead.
So, although Oead possibly is the easiest way to find an accommodation, I would think finding something through Facebook or sites like "wg-gesucht" will be preferable. read more
