    Shadow Napping After Training

On the recommendation of a friend we connected with this team of trainers and are so glad that we did. Our pup is a 4 year old that we rescued at 6 months. Tack on 2 years of COVID and she was great with us but a jumper and a licker with new people. We had no idea how to get her to stop. She was also a challenge to walk because some dogs she'd ignore and others she'd furiously bark at. After just a few sessions with Myriah and Megan, Shadow's a different dog! I knew I needed to be trained too and the lessons were easy and the trainers are so patient with both of us. I highly recommend their program!

OLK9 helped us train out two dogs to be pleasant dogs to take on road trips, camping, walks, and good dog citizens all around. I love having the confidence of off leash trained dogs. One was a runner and the other, a husky, don't cause fear if running off anymore.

I feel as though I purchased a $2500 E Collar...just was not happy with the results of this 2 week training. And was not happy with the after care help. Was told my GSD was probably not going to do as well as most...after the training was done.

We were super skeptical about sending our pup away for 2 weeks. We have been somewhat of helicopter pet parents since we got our pup Ralph. He was 5 months when we sent him to training. Our trainer, Jade, was absolutely incredible. She was super responsive to all of our questions (no matter how narcotic). She sent us daily updates on his progress, and spent plenty of time teaching us how to use the e-collar. Our Ralph came back a completely different pup (behavioral wise) he's completely stoped his nipping and feet biting. And can go up to 3 miles off leash walking right next to me. It's completely incredible. I would recommend this place and Jade to anyone looking to turn their doggo into a proper pup. Thank you guys truly for an incredible experience!

I generally NEVER do reviews, but Off Leash K9 will be an exception. They worked around my schedule to get my dog into a two week boarding/training session. The trainer was great, providing me with daily video updates of my dog's progress. My dog has been home 2 months and it has been great. People can't believe how obedient my 11 month old puppy is. I would highly recommend Off Leash K9 to anyone looking for excellent customer service and superior K9 training.

    Cassie with Liberty

We chose the two week board and train for our 11 month old lab Liberty because she would live with the trainer. We didn't want a training program that had her in a kennel for most of the day while several other dogs were being trained. We have never even boarded one of our dogs let alone sent one for training but after raising a few labs we knew we lacked the knowledge and consistency to properly train Liberty. So we took a chance and invested in this training program. I figured it was worth the expense if we get to enjoy the results for hopefully the next 14 years. We are very happy with the process and results! Our trainer, Cassie, sent us updates, photos and videos every day without fail. Her progress was AMAZING!! She sent us pictures of Liberty with her dog and cats in her living room cuddling on the couch (we told her we allow that) so we knew she was well cared for. It was a huge relief to see Liberty wagging her tail and obviously very happy in the training videos. Since Cassie has cats at home we got the extra bonus of having Liberty cat trained! We gave Cassie a list of places and activities we wanted to share with Liberty and she sent us videos of her being trained in those locations. Cassie also met up with other trainers and their dogs to train for distractions. I could go on but will suffice to say that we highly recommend this program and this trainer because they offer a valuable alternative to the standard programs. We're thankful for the opportunity to send our dog to Off Leash and Cassie!

A photo Aaron sent during training. It's Storm in front of an approaching storm :)

I enrolled my 2.5 year old GSD Storm in the two week board and train for several reasons. One is that I wasn't sure I could dedicate several hours per day for several weeks to reinforcing the training as he was learning. Also, a big draw was that the results are guaranteed for the life of the dog, meaning if they start to go back to old habits, they would work with him more to get him back to where he was at. Also, I was really excited about individual training for my particular dog, rather than a class with many other dogs. Storm was assigned to Aaron, who as I understand had just recently been certified. I wasn't sure how that would be, but I can tell you I am now Aaron's biggest fan. He absolutely adored my dog and gave him all the love and attention he needs. (He is my huge baby.) He sent me pictures and videos every day. He happily answered all my questions and made me feel completely at ease having my dog in his care. One of the coolest parts of the board and train is that your dog actually lives with the trainer in their home. Aaron lives on a large farm, so my boy had lots of room to run and play, as well as work his butt off with training. Aaron was considerate of the summer heat, and did much of Storm's training in the early morning and in the evening. He would stop and give Storm a long break when he could tell he was getting tired. Storm also got to work alongside other dogs training with the other off leash pdx programs, so really it is the best of both worlds. Aaron and Trish noticed a potential health problem as well, and notified me right away, so I could schedule a checkup with my vet when Storm returned home a few days later. (Everything checked out!) Now that Storm has been home for a couple of months, the training is only getting better with time. (It really does start to get fun!) Once you establish that you are also going to be the boss like the trainer was, they will snap into action just as they did with the pros. Storm took a couple days of pushing the limit, but I stayed strong and followed through. He has been home for 2 months and I no longer need the e-collar all the time. I do have him wear it, but I rarely use it. He knows I mean business, so reminders from the e-collar only come when he's feeling particularly stubborn. Aaron is always available for questions. I will text him from time to time, and he is super quick to reply. I've even sent video updates, which Aaron and Trish are thrilled to see! They truly love dogs at off leash, and only want them to succeed. It is SPENDY, but worth it. I did the math - for every year of my dog's long life, it amounted to less than $200. I was already spending up to $100 an hour for other trainers, so in my opinion it is well worth it. Plus you have a trainer who is always available to help - Aaron will even come to my house if I really need him. I have referred at least 10 other friends and strangers; people will come up and ask, how did you get your dog to behave that way? I hope they all go see Aaron and all the other wonderful trainers at off leash pdx! *One tip: if you are thinking of doing it, call and speak with Trish. She will not try to upsell you to get you to do something you don't need. The biggest reason to call right away is that their board and train programs can get booked out pretty far. It took nearly 2 months for me to get in.

During a recent pedicure at Angel Nails, I noticed the Zoom Room so I told my husband about it and he signed us up for a free intro class. Upon arrival we were greeted by the sweetest person and the front desk. She got us checked in and took our pup's first day photo - adorable. After getting checked in we waited and browsed their merchandise which included a lot of training treat options that we hadn't seen before. When it was time for class to begin, we got settled at our station. The trainer was kind and funny and taught us a few new things. Our puppy was very excited and interested in the other dogs but we eventually got her to pay attention to us about halfway through the class. Overall we had a good experience, but did find class to be a bit distracting with the various puppies and parents in attendance. We may consider returning for private training sessions in the future.

He was charging people and dogs while walking ONLY with me. And growling at and even attacked one of our cats, who for reference was his best friend for ages. They'd even sleep together and played a lot. I wanted Miles to get to training before we ended up with him biting someone was my greatest fear. So we picked him up on 4/20 in the morning and went over basics with Brian. Miles was EXHAUSTED for the first few days. Obviously from all that physical AND mental work. But he was immediately different. SO chill. Completely relaxed. By Tuesday of last week (just three FULL days after being home, almost 4,) I was already able to walk him and get Heel, Sit, Down and no reaction to people OR dogs passing with just a 1 tap on the remote. We started with a 3 or 4 the first few days.Miles regularly does GREAT with just this level. We went back on Friday, 4/26 for a session to follow up with Brian. We were VERY pleased with Miles progress as was Brian. We worked on the heel to perfect it and also Tie down, the leash stand and reviewed a few questions. Because Miles was doing so well, Brian suggested that maybe he'd do well with agility work. So he set him up a small course, and put him through it. Well Miles did NOT like it. He LOVED it!!! He had SO much fun. And he was doing AMAZING. He caught on SO fast. So fast rbat Brian sent us specs to build the jumps!! We also worked on high object "place." And Brian gave us lots of tips on that. With it only being 9 days since our pickup and 13 days since he started training, I'd say this was 1000% worth this training. We didn't have a BAD dog but a dog that needed some tweaks and some humans that needed help doing it. Now my husband and I look forward to walks and spending time with and taking him places. And Miles therefore gets MORE time with his people. Ellie, our daughter, LOVES doing "place" and commands with him and Jack, our son, is LOVING agility SO much that he and his dad already started building Miles jumps!!! We aren't very far into this but so far 5 HUGE stars. Thank you Brian!!! Also the office staff has been tremendous. They are responsive and kind and great at following up. 9ur entire experience from consultation to two weeks out is excellent!

We used Tails and Trails 3 times with mixed results. Important to know- you create detailed notes with the owner (Jeff) on how to access your building, routines, where leashes are, etc., etc., when you have your introductory visit. Our instructions ask that the handler only feeds the cats their canned food, nothing else. 1st time, week-long trip (June 2024)- handlers were 2+ hours late regularly. While this wasn't the biggest issue, we don't have a doggie door and that level of lateness pushed the pup's bathroom breaks longer than we're comfortable. But, we liked the service offered and adjusted how often we scheduled handler visits for the second and third visits. 2nd time, 1 week of walks while both of us were gone for longer than 8 hours (September 2024)- Great! Annie (I'm not disclosing employees' full names for their privacy) had no problems and was very helpful. 3rd time, overnight away- 4 visits requested: Sat afternoon and evening; Sun am and afternoon (October 2024)- Day 1- We left the house at 8 am and scheduled feeding/walk visits for about 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Around 1:25 pm, Chloe (office manager) texted me to ask if we had scheduled for 7:00 am that day. When we said we hadn't, a communication between Chloe and a handler led to the 1:00 pm visit being skipped. We talked with Chloe that evening and she said the handler would roll the afternoon and evening visits together, apologized for the miscommunication between herself and the handler, and credited our account for the mistake (all great). The handler arrived around 7:00 pm. They had a difficult time accessing the building so Chloe texted us to say the handler would hang out for a little longer before leaving if they couldn't get access. Once they did get into the building, they couldn't find the food or leash. The access information, food instructions, and where the leashes are were all in the instructions. The handler fed the pets and took the pup for a 15-min potty break. Since we were only gone for a night, we didn't book anyone to stay overnight. We considered cutting the trip short and wish we had. Day 2- Oscar was our handler. We got notifications that both visits were completed and everything seemed to have gone smoothly. When we got home, a glass jar with cat treats had been taken from the closed closet and left open on the counter. When we got home, there were treats all over the counter and SHATTERED GLASS MIXED WITH TREATS all over the floor. All three cats had engorged stomachs. While Chloe apologized and said she'd speak with Oscar the next day, we didn't hear back from Tails and Trails' manager or owner. We'll be anxiously monitoring our furbabies for a few more days.
