My wife and I can't say enough about how Ryan and Mandy have changed our lives for the better because of the training they did with our beagle Bumper. We tried multiple other training classes and techniques in the Portland area but none of them were able to help us with Bumper's leash aggression, pulling, and stubbornness. When we finally picked up Bumper after the three weeks, Ryan spent over two-hours with my wife and I to go over Bumper's trainings and commands. She was found unresponsive in the crate she was kept in on the last day of her week long board and train at trainer Myriah's house. Our dog spent 8 days 7 nights in the ICU at Dove Lewis fighting for her life. The Doctors all suspect heatstroke; although we will never know what truly happened. The story we got from Owner Trish and Trainer Myriah is that everything was totally fine and normal until my perfectly healthy and strong 3 year old husky was found with no pulse. There's so many things that just do not align and are very suspicious. Do not trust these people with your dogs. If this story does not deter you, and you still believe these people could be your life-changing opportunity to better you and your dog, ASK MORE questions. Do not trust the professionals. Trust yourself. Ask to see where the dogs will be boarded, ask for more detailed updates about eating/drinking/potty breaks etc. , ask for the daily schedule about where they transport the dogs, what they will be trained on that day and how long they will be kept in a crate. Ask, ask, ask whatever your concern is and then make the decision to NOT USE THEM. These people are dangerous trash and should not be working with animals. They will correct YOU...and your dog, until you grasp the right way to use Ecollar, leash, etc. I have a Demonic grey wolf/dog hybrid (mostly wolf, so he does NOT want anything to do with rules, correction, etc..just wants to RUN). They helped, but he will "always be Above the Law" (rules). Sometimes I think we are doing REALLY GOOD, and he knocks that down with Pouncing, leaping into the air, and wanting to run 50 miles per hour. OH well.. Ryan (and Mandy) have done wonders with our 1 year old 80 pound lab. Ka La's three biggest issues were jumping on people, barking and gnawing on us. After spending 2 weeks with Ryan and Mandy, so far so good. After we brought Ka La home we noticed how well mannered she is. Ka La has not gnawed on my arm since she has been back and has not jumped on anyone. When we picked up Ka La, Ryan was very professional and patient with us while explaining the E collar and commands. He was very detailed during training and sent us a very detailed email also to help us remember everything (a lot to remember). My daughter and I are very visual so I wish I recorded him on my phone to watch later. I would highly recommend that if allowed. The E -collar is very effective. I did take her off leash without it and she was perfect for a tenth of a mile walking. She did not try to sniff the bushes like she normally does. I highly recommend Training with them especially since they offer unlimited retraining lessons and allow you to contact them anytime you have questions. I have a super sweet 10 month old American Bully. But she is very strong willed and other than sitting or laying when she knows there is a treat involved I've struggled to get her to follow commands especially in public when there are distractions. I tried group obedience classes at Petco and while the trainer was super sweet and great with the dogs group training really wasn't the right fit and I would leave each week feeling frustrated like I still didn't know what to do nor did my dog. I wanted my dog to respond and obey even if I wasn't dangling a treat in front of her nose. After doing research on different obedience classes in the Portland area I decided I wanted to give off leash canine a try. I spoke with the owner Trish who answered all my questions and then set up a consult with the trainer at the Beaverton office Michelle. I'm glad I decided to go forward with lessons. Michelle is awesome to work with and wonderful with dogs. I did the 4 week beginning obedience and my dogs not perfect yet but there is 1000% improvement in where she was a month ago. Today she actually was in the park and sat about 2 feet away from a mama duck with her babies and just watched them .... I know she wanted to run to them badly but she did not. She is doing good with heal, sit, extended sit, place, come, stay. I'm super happy with the results and know she will just continue to improve. They use shock collars on the dogs and put a bunch of dogs 5 or 6 at a time into a van and make them sit for long periods of time in a crate inside a vehicle with the windows barely down. The dogs were obviously upset by the crys they were letting out. One of the trainers I observed was definitely not into her job and was very lazy with how she was training. They keep the dogs on leashes the whole time while training and would shock them to make them do what they wanted them to. Once they saw me sitting and observing their work, they packed up the dogs and left the park. Not wanting to be seen training the animals? Why worry if you are doing everything you should be doing. This is a long overdue review, but the fact that my opinion remains the same shows that it wasn't a short term fluke. Huskies are notoriously stubborn, hard to train and even worse by reputation off leash so my expectations were adjusted accordingly for our board and train with our pup. The team at OLK9 did an AMAZING job with Mika. despite chewing through two of their crates in the first two days, I'm happy to say we have a dog we go hiking with every single weekend off leash. Her recall even at dog parks is great now and it so much fun working on the place command with her. Most of the time loose leash walking with her is easy now although she can get overly excited or spooked so that is something we work on constantly and she is always getting better at. Mika is now just 16 months old and we get to ENJOY training her. A year ago, I never would have believed that was possible. Some of you may look at the price and shy away but if you think about the lifetime investment you are making, I argue that it is more worth it than any amount of toys or other ways you will spend your money on your dogs (except food of course). I will not hesitate to do this with every dog I ever have. One last note for people concerned about the e-collars. These are NOT shock collars, they are a tool. Yes, they can be abused but if you are putting this kind of investment in to your training, I doubt you are the type to abuse your dog. I support their use 100% and highly encourage you to do a range of research and not just look for the negatives. read more

We chose the two week board and train for our 11 month old lab Liberty because she would live with the trainer. We didn't want a training program that had her in a kennel for most of the day while several other dogs were being trained. We have never even boarded one of our dogs let alone sent one for training but after raising a few labs we knew we lacked the knowledge and consistency to properly train Liberty. So we took a chance and invested in this training program. I figured it was worth the expense if we get to enjoy the results for hopefully the next 14 years. We are very happy with the process and results! Our trainer, Cassie, sent us updates, photos and videos every day without fail. Her progress was AMAZING!! She sent us pictures of Liberty with her dog and cats in her living room cuddling on the couch (we told her we allow that) so we knew she was well cared for. It was a huge relief to see Liberty wagging her tail and obviously very happy in the training videos. Since Cassie has cats at home we got the extra bonus of having Liberty cat trained! We gave Cassie a list of places and activities we wanted to share with Liberty and she sent us videos of her being trained in those locations. Cassie also met up with other trainers and their dogs to train for distractions. I could go on but will suffice to say that we highly recommend this program and this trainer because they offer a valuable alternative to the standard programs. I enrolled my 2.5 year old GSD Storm in the two week board and train for several reasons. One is that I wasn't sure I could dedicate several hours per day for several weeks to reinforcing the training as he was learning. Also, a big draw was that the results are guaranteed for the life of the dog, meaning if they start to go back to old habits, they would work with him more to get him back to where he was at. Also, I was really excited about individual training for my particular dog, rather than a class with many other dogs. Storm was assigned to Aaron, who as I understand had just recently been certified. I wasn't sure how that would be, but I can tell you I am now Aaron's biggest fan. He absolutely adored my dog and gave him all the love and attention he needs. (He is my huge baby.) He sent me pictures and videos every day. He happily answered all my questions and made me feel completely at ease having my dog in his care. One of the coolest parts of the board and train is that your dog actually lives with the trainer in their home. Aaron lives on a large farm, so my boy had lots of room to run and play, as well as work his butt off with training. Aaron was considerate of the summer heat, and did much of Storm's training in the early morning and in the evening. He would stop and give Storm a long break when he could tell he was getting tired. Storm also got to work alongside other dogs training with the other off leash pdx programs, so really it is the best of both worlds. Aaron and Trish noticed a potential health problem as well, and notified me right away, so I could schedule a checkup with my vet when Storm returned home a few days later. (Everything checked out!) Now that Storm has been home for a couple of months, the training is only getting better with time. (It really does start to get fun!) Once you establish that you are also going to be the boss like the trainer was, they will snap into action just as they did with the pros. Storm took a couple days of pushing the limit, but I stayed strong and followed through. He has been home for 2 months and I no longer need the e-collar all the time. I do have him wear it, but I rarely use it. He knows I mean business, so reminders from the e-collar only come when he's feeling particularly stubborn. Aaron is always available for questions. I will text him from time to time, and he is super quick to reply. I've even sent video updates, which Aaron and Trish are thrilled to see! They truly love dogs at off leash, and only want them to succeed. It is SPENDY, but worth it. I did the math - for every year of my dog's long life, it amounted to less than $200. I was already spending up to $100 an hour for other trainers, so in my opinion it is well worth it. Plus you have a trainer who is always available to help - Aaron will even come to my house if I really need him. I have referred at least 10 other friends and strangers; people will come up and ask, how did you get your dog to behave that way? I hope they all go see Aaron and all the other wonderful trainers at off leash pdx! *One tip: if you are thinking of doing it, call and speak with Trish. She will not try to upsell you to get you to do something you don't need. The biggest reason to call right away is that their board and train programs can get booked out pretty far. This is the best training both you and your dog can receive. However, it is not a turn-key type of training. If you think you can send your dog, have it returned and there is no further work you need to do, you would be wrong. Your dog is trained, now it is time for YOU to start your training. We sent our 11-month-old GSD, Kai to Mandy & Ryan. Mandy & Ryan were phenomenal. From the very beginning (even though we had stated that Kai was lacking in self-confidence) they got her persona completely. She was a special case & we knew it. When they said that Kai's 2-week train-and-board may need additional time to get the results we all wanted, we were very amenable. All our goals were for Kai's best. After 3 1/2 weeks (there were extenuating circumstances that led to that time frame), we picked Kai up. At that time, Ryan admitted that when they first got Kai, they were not sure they would be able to give her the tools to operate as a confident GSD. However, they didn't give up and the results are remarkable. We picked her up and what a difference. She is still jubilant, excitable, happy BUT she has a remarkable inner confidence to listen to us. And she is so much calmer inside & outside the house. OK, we've only had her home for a little over a week and Kai is better trained than us but we are working together so we can all rely upon each other. Kai was what we call a COVID puppy. We never had a chance to fully socialize her and even if circumstances were different, we're not sure it would have altered her need for confidence. In addition, both of us are retired and didn't have the strength to handle an exuberant pup! The training, trust & relying on the leader of the pack is what it took, and Mandy/Ryan provided that. Our intentions have been to travel with our GSDs and have fun exploring new adventures together. We believe that once we get trained, we will do Kai proud, and all of us will have a fantastic time. It is also wonderful that Mandy & Ryan are lifetime coaches and will be there if/when we encounter setbacks. This is especially important because we have Kai's half-brother who was not trained by Mandy/Ryan, who is a year older and has been our "training with distractions" since we got her home. It has been almost two weeks since my Rumple returned from his board and train program and I felt that it was time to write my review! I will begin by saying that I am so happy that I sent him! He is a Mini Australian Shepherd that is very eager to learn and has done great with commands... But people were a whole other world. When I sent him he could not be off-leash around strangers because his initial reaction was to bark, growl and nip their calves. I have spent a large amount of time working with him, because, well, he is my priority and I find a great deal of comfort learning new things with him. My shortcomings happen to have been socializing him and working on behavioral issues. So, I came to OLK9! Within just the first few days I saw a great deal of improvement with how he reacted around people. There wasn't any fear or barking just after a few days! When I got him back we went everywhere and he didn't bark at new people and even wanted to great them with friendliness! We continue to train every day so that we don't have a relapse in his behavior, but I couldn't be happier with the progress that they were able to make in just two weeks. Everything was great, but my only (very minor) complaint was that there was a hiccup in when to pick-up. The date and time was changed a couple times which caused some scheduling hiccups for my work. Like others have posted here, this place is perfect. Brought our German Shepherd for the two week course, best money I have spent in a long time. Prior to the training we tried to work with him and he was uncontrollable. Being a puppy we thought he couldn't be trained as he was, but boy were we wrong. Our trainer Ben did a great job, from the initial drop off/question period to sending updates and pictures or videos each day which were greatly appreciated. These let you see the dogs transformation and just how obedient they become but still maintain your dogs personality. I would use them again and have referred them to family members who have seen just how great our dog has become. So his review is long overdue however I wanted to really experience the results first and see how they worked 3 months later. So here we are! Ive used 2 of offleash's training programs. We did the beginner class and then the 2 week board and train. This is a review for both options. But first a little background = I have 2 dogs a 4 year old black mouth cur named Taco (a hunting dog with a HUGE prey drive who is also afraid of his own shadow) and a 5 year old lab mix named Max who barks at anything foreign = people/bikes/cars/dogs/plastic bags/blankets/flags you name it the list goes on forever. Both dogs are BFF's however because they are both so afraid of everything they set each other off. And by set each other off I mean if out on a walk and they see ANYTHING that is a trigger which is just about everything the BLOW UP. They immediately start barking and clawing on the ground and if one gets set off and the other isnt responding the same way the initial dog will actually provoke the other dog to get him BLOWN UP. The result is my 2 dogs literally looking like 2 tasmanian devils going nuts. The walk is over. We couldnt recover from it. This happened almost every time we went for a walk. This has been happening for 4 years. It was getting embarrassing AND exhausting. Wed tried other dog training but nothing helped with their blowups. It was getting to the point where I was having daydreams of dropping the dogs off at a farm and just driving away hysterically laughing. I was beginning to HATE our dogs. Their behaviors were NOT something I could deal with for another 10+ years and believe me we tried EVERYTHING. Then we heard about offleash k9 dog training. We watched tons of their before and after videos for the board and trains and were absolutely amazed at the results. It looked like witchcraft! And honestly with the way things were going I was willing to try anything. We went in for a consult with Trish and Michelle and they didnt think a board and train was needed. They suggested the beginner class to get a solid foundation and to help them gain confidence. And it did indeed help with their confidence and after the beginners training we had about a 30% reduction in blowouts. Which helped but was still incredibly taxing it was to the point where we had to walk them separately because it was impossible for one person to walk them both when/if they had a blow out. We got a referral to see one of their trainers with a lot of experience with dogs who had behavioral issues = Ben. THIS GUYS IS AMAZING. Within 10 minutes of our first meeting he brought a dog with him and he had our dogs sitting 5 feet away from another dog without any barking, no blow out, no issues at all. I couldnt believe it I was stunned. This was something they have NEVER done before. So right then and there we did the paperwork for the board and train and a few weeks later they went off to live with Ben for 2 weeks. While the dogs were away we got pictures and videos daily about their progress. Ben was very proactive with his communication. 2 weeks later we got the dogs back and it was a total transformation. They were able to be around a bunch of dogs and strangers and cars with ZERO issues. Perfectly behaved dogs! The real test was about a week later when we went and hiked 12 miles of the Mckenzie river trail! They did the whole 12 miles off leash with TONS of furry little squirrels and birds and people and dogs! NOT A SINGLE BLOW OUT! Taco still has a strong prey drive and Max still does have some fears about things but rather than blowing up immediately we have about 30 seconds to distract them or put their attention somewhere else. Having that 30 seconds is a lifesaver and in the rare occurrence that we do have a blow out instead of it lasting 5+ minutes and not being able to continue the walk its resolved in about 5 seconds and we are able to continue the walk without them remaining hyper focused on the situation.It really is a 180 in terms of behavior. I cant say enough good things about Ben, Michelle an Trish at offleash k-9 dog training. The price can seem a little steep but the results are top notch and totally worth the cost of the training. Plus the fact that they have no interest payment plans is really an awesome option for people who may not have all the money up front. A side-note about the E-collars they are a LIFE SAVER. Not just for the owners but for the dogs. Its not a Shock its more of a twinge. You get to try it on yourself. I used it and didnt feel ANYTHING till i got to about a 13 or so and even then it was less of a feeling than static electricity. Your not shocking the dogs your getting their attention. Max doesnt ever need to go above a 10 (and i didnt even feel the slightest tingle till at a 13) and taco is able to respond in the 15-20 range and thats off leash even! I wish every dog owner would send their pups here. Life would be so happy! Not only did our golden retriever come home trained, she came home happy. Fulfilled. And a better, more balanced version of herself. We didn't know what to expect exactly--but now I can tell every one: k9 off leash gives your dog more than commands to learn. I am very impressed with this training program. I wish I could give more than five stars. Signed up for the four lessons and I have no regrets. Michelle was our trainer and she was awesome. I could tell how much she loves dogs and what she does. One thing she noticed was how stressed I was working with Gracie (my dog) and Michelle was always able to get me to relax so that my dog would too. This training is for both the owner and dog. And to get anything out of it you have to do the homework your trainer gives you at the end of every lesson. I got to the point when I worked with my dog that it was enjoyable and fun. When people who saw Gracie before training and see her now have been impressed. She follows commands and realizes that is her job now. It turns out the trainer contracted to train my dog has not done their job, didn't do things I specifically asked, failed to tell me my dog was allergic to the collar band, and dropped the e collar off without a manual or correct usage training. We have had to replace the unit, luckily for free. The owner of the company, Trish, informed me that Nicole D. up and left without warning and skimped on my dog's training. Trish is doing everything in her power to correct the situation and taking my dog to do board and train again. I am really disappointed in Nicole and hope she did not get paid in the end. That money needs to go to me or to be reinvested in re-training my dog with another trainer. I can't even walk my dog properly most days, can't take him to the park, because he's at risk of pulling me down and hurting me, and doesn't listen at all. This dog was supposed to be an assistance dog and I can't get people to just help me with basic obedience without ripping me off. read more

Bruce and Trish, very well done:) We have a 11 mo Giant Schnauzer with a very kind heart, but thick skull and obstinate nature. This added to a 90 lb. puppy frame with too much energy, make not an agreeable situation. My 9yo daughter wanted to be friends w/ him, but his energy and huge 'open jaws' greeting kept her (and everyone else) at bay and not wanting to be around him. She literally had a cart on wheels that she would place between him and Jack while indoors! We also own an adult care home and he MUST be calm and reliable in that environment. I signed Jack up to stay w/ Bruce and Trish for two weeks and we hoped for the best. Two weeks later, we were reintroduced to a much improved pup. No, not perfect, but MUCH improved behaviorally. His mouth stays closed, he sits, heals, stays, comes, 'loads' into the SUV and is an amiable pack member now. He is not perfect and is still young. Bruce and Trish both noted that he was a challenge, but one that they were not at all hesitant to take on. I have continued the training almost daily and he continues to improve. This morning, I walked him on the sidewalk of a busy street without a leash with no worries about him running away. He is 11 months! Initially, Bruce met me at my home before camp and was very polite, on time and genuinely had a good time with my poorly behaved dog. At camp, Bruce sent videos nearly daily with texted updates. He took Jack to the beach, downtown, to outdoor malls, down busy streets, parks and met many people and other dogs along the way. Jack met us at the end, happy and in great shape. Both Bruce and Trish took several (very well spent) hours at pick up to explain proper use of the collar. Bruce even put the collar on himself and we were able to mock train w him and the live collar before working together w Jack to be sure we'd use it properly.... If you are considering a place to train your dog, I highly recommend Bruce and Trish. If you are worried about the collar, don't be. It is highly effective, safe and because we use it properly, the only thing that would penetrate the head of our wonderfully thick-skulled Jack. I met with Jade for the puppy consultation for my 3 month Pitbull, I'd say it was definitely worth the money. I'm a first time dog mom and most of the time i didn't know how to handle my dog. I didn't know if I was doing things right or what were the best ways to do things. Well Jade covered it all and I can honestly say that I feel more confident now in the house training I'm giving him. Having that consultation let me know I was doing some things right and yet ALOT of other things wrong. Jade gave me tips on how to fix them and just overall helped me understand my pup better than before. I'm really glad I had this consultation and I look forward to working with them again in the future! Of Leash helped change our lives! Literally! Buster has always been a unpredictive dog, and was horrible on a leash, wouldnt settle down when people came to the door, and after our new baby began some mobility, Buster wasnt a fan. We are able to go on walks every evening, and now that my baby is 3, he is able to help with Buster so much, and we ride his bike, and buster walks right along side of him. i was skeptical at first as i didnt want to hurt my dog, but im confident that he actually feels so sort of security with it, and likes it. Buster was walking with his collar without pulling within the first couple trainings. we use it to this day, he stays on his place, he sleeps with my son, and they can play fetch together. I can't say enough great things about Trish and Bruce at OLK9 Training. We adopted a 2 month rescue puppy who ended up being extremely aggressive towards other animals. We found OLK9 and at 4 months enrolled him in the 2 week board and train. Not only did they correct his "agression issues", they taught him all of the basic commands. I can't tell you how many compliments we get from people telling us how well behaved our puppy is. I enrolled my Goldendoodle and French bulldog in the two week board and train. We are so happy with our boys. Trainer Aaron is amazing . He made sure I had a picture and a video of my dogs every night. I was thankful for that. And picking my dogs up today. He went over everything they have learned. My dogs now have manners and can walk on the leash without pulling my arms out of socket. I am confident I can keep the training up because Aaron explained everything to me so well. When we got home today I practiced Place and both my boys did what I said. I'm so happy with the outcome I am sending our third dog in for training also:-) thank you again Aaron your are an amazing trainer. And I can tell you have a genuine love for dogs. read more
