I thought about selling my 2002 Chaparral 285 SSI instead of paying for winter storage. After several communications with Brett Stanfield from Off The Hook and sending him all info on the boat and pictures he requested, he told me he would have an offer for me in a few hours. He was waiting for final numbers from his purchasing manager. Instead, I heard nothing for another week so I sent him an email reminding him he said he would have numbers for me a week ago. Brett wrote back saying he had some medical problems and was in the hospital for a few days last week. What a crock! He must have gone into the hospital within a few hours of the previous week's communication because, in that email he said he would get back to me in a few hours. His response to me today when I emailed him about, 'where's my offer that was promised to me a week ago' his response was to bad mouth my boat as being 20 years old, just sell it yourself and 'I don't like your tone' My storage options have decreased due to his delay and I never did get an offer from him. The boat is in excellent condition with only 286 hours in 19 years. His company sells boats older than mine. After looking at their website, it became clear that they usually sell boats that are much higher priced than mine but they do sell older boats. I would advise anyone thinking of buying a boat from these guys, check the Better Business Bureau and the online reviews. You can do better! read more

Open a west coast location! The brokers in California, or at least the ones we dealt with, don't love selling boats and need a class in customer service. I thought it would be difficult buying a boat across the country but Beau made it very easy and communicated with me throughout the entire process. it's not often that a company actually puts the customer first. Buyer beware! They are good "salesman" and butter you up until they have your money then they'll screw you. I purchased a Grady white and had them order a new trailer for it from Venture. When the trailer arrived at the dealership they called and said the trailer was the wrong size. They made some adjustments which allowed for safe travel and told me to take the boat and trailer home and they would order the correct trailer. They lied! They now are telling me that I have to pay a 10% restocking fee for this trailer because I pulled it home. 3 months after purchase, 2 payments in to the deal and I haven't been able to use the boat because they didn't want me to splash the trailer. After all of this waiting they are backing out of their word and leaving me high and dry, literally! read more

This review is in reference to the 2020 Midnight Express 37 Open with quad 450R's advertised as "SHOWS LIKE BRAND NEW WITH LESS THAN 100 HOURS". After hours of discussion and negotiation I had the boat under agreement pending shipment, inspection and sea trial in Massachusetts. Within the listing and reiterated in countless conversations with Dennis Gunn (Broker representing Off the Hook), I was reassured that the boat was in pristine condition. Dennis was well aware of my expectations being a seasoned boat owner and having had communicated that I would not accept the boat unless it was immaculate and like new as advertised. After spending the money to ship the boat; the arrival and subsequent inspection was nothing less than a disaster and letdown. Upon starting the boat, the two port engine's water cooling systems weren't functional, the two center props were damaged along with stone bruising from transport, hull sides marked and rub rails damaged. The interior hatches were stress cracked, the side door hinge striker sat unattached, the armrest on the lounge seat had been pulled out of the fiberglass with numerous screws throughout that were backed out or missing. Although the Broker representing Off the Hook agreed with my assessment of the boat and the misrepresentation of its current condition, they would not credit me any portion of the extensive shipping costs. I would NOT RECOMMEND dealing with Off the Hook, they did little to nothing to remediate the situation and will do or say anything to make a sale - this 2020 Midnight Express 37 Open is an abused and neglected boat. read more

I purchased a 2013 Regal 2500 from Off the Hook Yacht Sales in March of 2019. So far I have put a little over 2 hours on it and spend $7,400 plus the cost of a new starter, which I have not been billed for yet. I have taken it out twice, and it has left me stranded both times. I was told by my Sales Consultant, Johnny Davidson, the boat had a received a complete boat survey upon them receiving the boat. I was told the boat was in perfect condition, with zero cosmetic, or mechanical issues. When I asked about the survey he started flipping switches to prove to me that every thing worked. The 2nd switch he flipped for the bilge pump did not work which should have been my red flag to back out of the deal at that time. I provided him a very small list of things I wanted repaired prior to the boat being delivered. I was only allowed to take a short spin around the cove at delivery as the delivery guy was in a hurry and said it was not is job to take me on test drive. Only two of the items were repaired. I took delivery of the boat anyway, and the next day sent an email to the owner who did not respond, but did send me to the Sales Manager. I explained my dissatisfaction to the Sales Manager who said he would call me the next day and "probably" send me $500. I never got the call, and never got the $500. I took it out for the first time in May where it left me stranded after one hour. Two of the three thermostats were rusted shut, and had been for quite some time. I paid the local Regal dealer to retrieve the boat where it sat for two months since they were so backed up. I sent another email to the Sales Manager who did call me back. Explained the new situation. He said he would do some "research" and call me back the next day. He also said he would check on the $500. Never got that call. Two months later, and $7,400 later I finally get my boat back. They replaced all the bellows, pully's, stereo, gear shifter, as well as a whole slew of other items. The list goes on, and on. All of these would have been identified had the boat been surveyed as Johnny Davidson said it had been. I paid the Regal to do the surveys since it was obvious it had never been done. I was also told by Johnny the boat had never been in Salt Water, and that it came from a lake in Florida. They left the previous owners information in the boat. I contacted the previous owner who told me it had been stored at the beach and used to the ocean and brackish water the whole time they owned it since 2013. I about threw up when he told me that. The fact they left the previous owners information in the boat is actually a federal offense violating the Safeguards Act. I took the boat out again two weeks ago, and left me stranded yet again. This time the starter was rusted to the point of having an intermittent no start issue. I was towed in by "Sea Tow" for the 2nd time. It has since been repaired and I will give it another shot this weekend. I understand the boat was sold "as is". I get that. However I purchased the boat under false pretenses, and was told one lie after another. This dealership has a good reputation and maybe this was just a one off, but I highly encourage anyone doing business with this organization to pay the $$ for a complete boat survey, and not to believe a word they say about prior history. I certainly recommend NOT choosing JOHNNY DAVIDSON as your Sales Consultant. If you have any issues after you take delivery you WILL be ignored. This was the single worst experience I've ever had buying an big ticket item from any organization any where. This is also the first negative review I've ever given to any business. Right is right, and wrong is wrong, and this has been an absolute nightmare. read more
