I returned at 5 and discovered he was going to take me out alone at no extra charge--great personalized customer service! And because there was a music festival occurring that made travel through Old Town difficult due to crowds, he fashioned his own tour of the lake and gardens. He was a fountain of knowledge about Geneva's history, politics, geography--anything I could throw at him he could answer. He also took a ton of candid photographs during the tour and emailed them to me promptly after the tour. If you've never ridden a Segway (I had), you ride sometimes on the streets, so it was a little scary at first, but Reto led with confidence, so it was fun. Sebastien Girard, the owner/operator, did much more than that. A piece of our luggage was delayed, and Sebastien made several calls and helped get us the missing bag. He was our transfer from the airport to the hotel, took us on wonderful tours of Peyrouge, the Beaujolais and Annecy, gave us suggestions for our time alone in Lyon, and was the highlight of our time in Lyon. He was punctual, charming, funny, and solicitous of our needs. His large 7 seater van was spotlessly clean and spacious enough for us and out luggage. Sebastien speaks perfect English, and is himself well travelled not only in France, but around the world. When we go back to The Beaujolais region we will not consider using anyone else.

The first winery was a small family affair and the owner served us our wine and spoke extensively about the varieties he produces. It was intimate and educational. The conversations with Olivier were interesting and informative through the trip. The lunch spot was amazing and so affordable! Despite the rainy weather we had a blast. One of the things I knew I wanted to do on my recent trip to France was spend a day in wine…read morecountry. Based on solid reviews for Authentica we booked the full day tour (€130/pp). I would say this tour is best for those with some wine knowledge as they delve deep into the history and geography of the region. The focus is on education rather than guzzling a lot of wine. We visited a private cellar that represented many producers and had an introduction to what the region makes. After that, you'll see beautiful countryside, as well as the most expensive vineyard in the world (€15K/bottle!!). Then a stop in Beaune for lunch (on your own) and on to a woman owned winery to delve deep into the difference terroir makes in wine. Our guide Paul was incredibly knowledgeable about the region and wine in general. I would probably have wished for another winery stop versus lots of driving but ultimately I learned a ton and really enjoyed it!

There is some cheese provided at the shop to pair with your tastings. Many of us bought a couple bottles. Some of these wines only sold locally not exported. They will ship your purchases for you. I recommend bringing water, take photos of the wines tasted and documents you're given as notes. I would recommend this highly.

It starts at Jardin Anglais. This is also where you buy your tickets. It ends a little after Parc des Eaux-Vives, then loops back. Not too much to see. I feel that one can just walk the whole route, which is basically along the water.
