We got there around 4:50pm. Many things around the city close around 5 or 6 pm so it was a great start to our trip considering it was a tour of 30 minutes. Even though it rained for almost the entire tour (and it was cold), he kept everyone engaged, laughing and in tow. Really, really knowledgeable, funny, worldly (he's given tours around the world) and dynamic, our guide clearly is proud of his adopted home and eager to share its history, stories and secrets with others. This made all the difference between seeing Gent and truly appreciating it. While it's free, tips are appreciated and well-earned. It's easy to see a few spots and think you've seen the highlights of Stuttgart but Gavin's knowledge shined a spotlight on details I had not heard before. He was also very helpful in pointing out stops along the tour with bathrooms and managed our progress so that a quick stop didn't throw us off schedule. I had to get back to the tour meeting point within an hour so I didn't have much time to wait. I asked if it would be a wait and was told that it shouldn't be long (10 minutes max) but it ended up being 1/2 hour. Seems the Boat tours get busier as the afternoon progresses. It was a nice/Hot day and some type of shade in the waiting area would have been nice. 12 Euros and they do accept cards. This was my second time taking the tour and it was ok. It was difficult to hear the Captain/Guide given he was speaking fast as he was trying to provide the information in a couple of languages. In addition, the PA system wasn't clear. Overall, a good way to see Brugge from the canal perspective. More to enjoy the sights vs sights and information.
