If I could give it 0 stars or negative stars I would. I had to get some stuff binded for a binder, and the guy at the desk was super unhelpful and rude. I asked if he could simply bind my paperwork (they had multiple machines for this) he said nope. I asked if he sells the binder machine so I could do it, he said no. Yep. I agree with the posts about poor customer service. Cashier made a mistake. Doubled down. I Proved she was wrong. She doubled down again as said "you clearly do not understand what I am saying"... I agreed and proved her wrong again by showing her a online order receipt. Didn't matter. Another employee had my product fortunately, hence I left with my order. Here is the bottom line. When you jump to your own conclusion without listening to your customer, your business will fail (at least this location). I don't have time for the details & I don't care about a response. The best customer service here! I recently went to another Office Depot location and had the worse service there so I came to this one. As soon as I walked in, there was someone asking what I was looking for. As I was browsing through the aisle, I was still approached by every staff that came by to offer assistance. I was looking for a report cover that the other location didn't have (you can find my review on their horrible customer service), and Tre helped me get what I needed. He checked for their next shipment and offered to have the item sent to my home the next day! Free shipping and I was able to get it right on time. Tre definitely went beyond to make sure I got that report cover and was very informative. The staff here are efficient and they help each other out. If you want good customer service here, I would recommend coming as early as you can. When I walked in this morning at 9:00 I was not only greeted by Ena, she also helped me pick out paper at a cheaper price, and in the end she also rung me up. For anyone who has had issues with customer service at this location in the past, look for Ena because she was awesome. She actually thanked me afterwards because I actually listened to her, and what she had to say/offer. In the end I walked away with a case of paper that was $30.00 cheaper than another brand I was looking at, and my pretty crummy start of the day was starting to look better. read more

After burning out the motor on an old school shredder (old school= +10 years old and only shred in strips), I was in desperate need of a new shredder to help on "Project Purge" while the teen dream was on Spring Break to help. I happened to remember passing this store numerous times but never having reason to stop in until this week. I was in the area since dropping the daughter off at WC Bart, I headed here in the rain and found a parking spot right up front. I walked in to a virtually empty store, was asked by someone if I needed help and I told him what I was looking for. After perusing the selection and prices, I decided on a pretty decent shredder that does diamond cut, shreds CD's and had a decent warranty. The guy even carried it to my car (in the rain) and loaded it for me. Since I do most of my office supply shopping elsewhere, I don't know if there is reason to come back regularly, but it fit the need when I needed it and the "Project Purge" has been completed at least on the shredding front. read more

HINT to corporate: When you have TWO customers walk out without having had services rendered, what does that tell you? A book I bought came with a coupon to get my book spiral bound at a discount at Office Max and this is the closest to home. When I arrived, there was one person behind the counter which she left to do something without acknowledging me. There was also one person at the counter. The employee came back quick enough and was talking to someone on her walkie talkie about how a customer just left because she wasn't helped at the counter. Said employee assisted me. I gave her my coupon which she looked at in disdain and read carefully and still couldn't figure out what she was supposed to do. She gave me a form to fill out and I asked how long it would take. It's not my first time having a book bound...the last time, I went to FedEx/Kinko's it took me 5 minutes...OfficeMax needs 1/2 hour minimum but I was quoted one hour. I then asked how much the service was and the attitude for this gal was beyond what I was willing to take. Even though it's half the price of FedEx/Kinko's before the coupon, I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

I've recycled so many cartridges that I earned a bunch of points, so when they had a B1G1 50% off sale on HP ink, I came in to use my bonus. They were out of the HP ink that I needed (who wouldn't be on a Sunday night during such a good promotion). However, the employee who helped me ran to the back to bring back the cartridges that I needed -- not once, but twice. I was about to give this place 5/5 until I reached the checkout line. Upon entering the store, I immediately received help finding the supplies I needed - colored pencils and a pencil pouch. The worker (I forgot his name, but I wish I didn't!!) even asked me what kind of colored pencils I wanted, which I thought was pretty detailed. Thanks to his help, I was able to find all my supplies quickly. The checkout line is another story. I was first in line with one woman behind me. I swear, the customer at the cash register took 10 minutes for some reason. Another woman started pacing back and forth asking the other employees if they could open another cash register, and they finally did after a long wait. The wait was way too long. I will come back, but only if I need supplies immediately. read more

I came here in need of some items and it was convenient that it was located right off of the freeway. They have plenty of parking both above and below ground which is convenient since it shares it's parking lot with Shane Co. I found the store to be organized and layed out well. While the staff on the floor was friendly the cash register staff was not as friendly. I hope it can improve as it was the only thing I could find fault here. read more

I started using the printing services here in late spring of 09 for a monthly newsletter I make for a local club. There are about 60 copies of 8 pages that I do once a month. They WERE doing a great job with turnaround 1-2 hours, and the price was reasonable, the quality was not ever excellent, but I was bringing in hard copies as the originals and even those weren't high quality, so no complaints. Recently, they have started quoting 24 hour turn arounds, to cover their asses, which is really frustrating if I need it same day. They last time I came in they had a new untrained employee manning the printshop counter, and not only did it take forever to explain to him what I needed, it took longer than normal for it to be done (or at least for them to call me), and when I returned the order was totally messed up and had to be redone. This time, I was having issues with my printer at home, and called to see if I could bring in a .pdf on a flash drive, they said, yes, but you can also email it to us, wow! awesome time saver on my part! but in this day and age not really a surprise that they can do this. I sent the file to the address and asked for verification that they received it. A half hour later, no return email, so I called. They said our person is out to lunch (apparently only one person can check emails?) and was quoted a 24 hour turnaround. I explained that I needed it today, and needed to know if I could have it today. They said I can only quote you 24 hours, but it will probably get done today, but we can have the person who checks the email call you back. the person who checks the email called me back quickly, and said I could have them by 3 p.m. - thank you person who checks the emails! Dealing with this location for print services is getting more and more stressful, I may look into other places to go. read more

If you're going to this location to make copies - don't. I'm a schoolteacher and need to make a copy of a binder (which is fairly large). The guy at the counter acts like he couldn't be bothered. At one point when I was checking out prices and paper thickness, he begins to drum his fingers LOUDLY on the counter. Really, who DOES that? He quotes me 37 bucks but I'm already rather turned off by his behavior so I decline. I go to a nearby competitor and it's half that price. So yeah, you can do better. read more

They said I had to wait 30 minutes to print something off a thumb drive because they only have one printer connected to a computer, and was being used. I almost didn't believe the guy because he was standing in front of a slew of reprographic machines. "Water, water, every where, Nor any drop to drink." Chris was so helpful in figuring out how to adjust the lighting and borders and went above and beyond to make sure we got exactly what we were looking for. I went to buy a file cabinet on 11/18/21 and some woman, who I guess was the "manager" said that the guy who could get it down from the top shelf would be back in 15 minutes. That's ridiculous. I told her that I wouldn't wait that long and she just walked away. No resolution, no attempt to find someone else who could help, no effort, and no nothing. I purchased a lamp approximately 5 months ago and the lamp stopped working a couple of weeks ago. We attempted to return it with the receipt that we have and they wouldn't return it because it wasn't in the original box. Who in the world keeps a box for a desk lamp? We will NEVER do business with Officemax again. The customer service is abhorrent. My children can provide better customer service than these people. The employees are ignorant and there is a serious lack of leadership. I highly suggest everyone go to STAPLES in lieu of this place. read more

I am very disappointed in OFFICE MAX. I spend a lot of money over past 10 years but discovered something very disturbing. I looked online for the product I needed. It will tell me if the store I go to have it in stock so I don't make a wasted trip. The labels on their website said, $15.48 per package and I can pick up at the store I go to. When I got there, the price was $18.99 per package. I said that's not the price advertised on your website. So She charged me the $15.48. Had I not said something, she would have charged me $18.99. I also just bought ink cartridge for $46.99. And because of the labels, when I got to my car I looked on website and it's $41.89. $5.10 less!!!!! I was charged the $46.99. That is sooooooo wrong!!!! How many customers is OFFICE MAX taking advantage of on a daily basis!! WHEN I CONFRONTED THEM THEY SAID IF I FIND IT ANYWHERE CHEAPER WITHIN 14 days of purchasing they will honor that price and refund different. ADVISE TO THE WISE, always look at there online prices before going there because I have now found MULTIPLE ITEMS cheaper on their website vs in store. BUYER BEWARE. I've also reported this to the BBB. This can't be legal!!! False advertising???? I'm putting this on Yelp to advise as many as I can. I've talked to three companies in our area, all who now say they will not use Office Max online or in store after pointing this out. Let's pass this on SNF make them stop this deceiving behavior. They are taking advantage of our seniors (who most aren't even online) and buy cards there etc. The ink was 10% cheaper and because I wasn't aware it was cheaper on their website, I was charged full amount. They say I can go back to store and they will refund the difference. I shouldn't have to drive to OM twice because they are false advertising. one price online and another in store but will honor their online prices. And if you're smart enough to look on line you can save at least 10% of your bill. I wouldn't say anything if it was a different company that had the lower price, but this company is screwing their own customers. So disappointing!!! I've been shopping there for years and have experienced everything said in previous reviews. That said, I still go there because they are close and better than the alternative (Office Depot, Staples, Kinko's). I probably get better than average service because I have developed relationships with the few employees who have hung in there over the years. My usual complaint, which I always let the manager know, is why are they so intent on changing the location of products within the store every few months? Just when I find I don't have to ask where something is, they move it. :-( Must be a corporate thing. read more

Part 2 of my 3-part review on the office supply stores. The silver goes to OfficeMax (Office Depot having already taken the lowest podium). I'm actually surprised by all the low ratings in the previous reviews. I've shopped this particular OfficeMax store and other OfficeMax stores in the Bay Area. I've had good experiences at every store. First, they have friendly, competent customer service. I get the feeling that they go through some training sessions to convey professional demeanor. It really does make a difference when employees address you in polite English. I hate customer service that begins with "wassup" just because I'm a person of color. Second, they have great prices. Their Sunday paper inserts are full of great deals and only rarely will the other stores beat those advertised prices. Third, they keep their stores well-lit, organized, and clean. For a guy that likes to shop office supplies and computer stuff, it really makes the experience more enjoyable. A well-deserved second-place and 4 stars to bump up the average on yelp. read more

No the best of Office Max's. I do a lot of supply shopping, and 1) long check out times. They never seem to have a person dedicated to the checkout stand 2) less than friendly manager. When I wanted to buy something I saw cheaper at Frys, the manager refused to price match. I was really surprised. So I walked out and went down the street to save $30. I have not been in this location in years. I made the mistake of going in today. They have only gotten worse. They should get a ZERO for their attitude and service. They should have closed this store and kept the one by Best Buy open years ago. I haven't been in this store since 2016, but I was there and needed an item. Didn't get the item but got plenty of attitude. I won't be going here again. Either they don't understand or care that everything they sell can be bought online and delivered for free without the attitude. That's just what I did, ordered online, free delivery, no attitude. I asked for assistance at the scanning area because I am unfamiliar with how to use a scan and the man that is I guess working that area had so much attitude towards me. I just need some help but the way he acted towards me. I don't recommend coming to this store unless you aren't a minority. The business services desk is horrible. The saleswoman pointedly ignored me, helped someone who arrived after me first, and was a real jerk when she finally did serve me. On the other hand, she fawned over good looking, middle aged men in business attire...so dress accordingly if you do go. I had the bad luck to show up in sweats after doing some morning chores. Another employee joined her behind the service desk after a while but he just stood there ... literally just stood there doing nothing as people waited in line. Combine this with OfficeMax's unholy alliance with Go Daddy and I have plenty of reasons to not go back there for business services. Their general retail store seems ok. Decent prices on supplies but their office chairs, even the moderately expensive ones, are pure junk. I'll be buying our company's office furniture and getting our business services elsewhere. They are convenient to both my house and office though, and the floor staff are reasonably nice and helpful. So I'll probably go back for stuff like paper and pens, but that's about it. read more

I rarely leave Yelp reviews especially not for non-food establishments, but I came to print out new resumes and Jazmin went above and beyond to help me do it. She showed me the different type of paper I could print my resumes on to make them stand out more and helped with the adjustments on my document before printing. I have been to other printing place/Copymat store(s) in downtown Walnut Creek and they are not nearly as friendly or helpful and overcharge for every, little, thing. I went to the tech area and the support person was busy and I was just waiting. Another employee came to me and asked if I needed help! I explained why I was there and he very rudely said they don't service printers there ! I said I bought the printer there and he said well we don't do that very rudely He didn't even wait to see that all I had was a question and would have purchased the extra usb cords there if that's what I needed. I needed to use another part of the store and when I asked the other employee who the person I had a run in was, I was told he was a store manager. He said I should just ignore his behavior because he had employees not show up today. I don't care, as a customer I need not know that. I work in a service area that we are short staffed and I WOULD NEVER tell my customers that. So unprofessional.
