I've been here a couple of times now, and there's a reason I keep coming back…read more I first tried Shiso Crispy at a Yelp event a couple of years ago, and that was honestly the first time I'd ever heard of them. I couldn't stop thinking about the food afterward, so I immediately made a trip to the restaurant to try more. This time, we went to the location across from Ferg's because it was a little chilly and we wanted to sit inside and eat everything right away. We even drove from Tampa, even though there's a food truck closer, because we really wanted the full sit-down dining experience. We ordered the ahi tuna dirty rice, the bang bang shrimp (a special I saw online), and the pork belly buns. This was my first time trying the shrimp and the buns, and let me tell you... the buns did NOT disappoint. They were so fluffy, cooked perfectly, and absolutely delicious. And the bang bang shrimp? I loved it almost more than the ahi tuna. It had the most perfect crisp and crunch. You order outside and everything is made fresh. It didn't take too long at all, and the food came out warm and insanely good. I'm a huge dumpling girl, so I already know I need to go back ASAP to try the truffle gyoza and the wagyu gyoza. The lobster crab rangoons also sounded incredible. If you haven't been yet, this place is 100% worth the hype, and the repeat visits.

But seeing that it was scorching hot, there still wasn't too much shade to be found. I would suggest this be in the winter when it is cooler. I think it would be perfect in January/ February after all the holidays are over. I would also suggest there be areas for misting tents if it is going to be in the hot months of Florida. That would help people feel more refreshed, and more inclined to keep going through. It's hard for me to have an appetite if I can't refresh somewhere close by. I did get to try the Vietnamese coffee from the Pho truck. I loved it, but it was super small just because it was basically ice. I also has the lobster roll from Surf and Turf. It was okay, but I didn't love that it was mostly kale. My hubby had a burger from one of the trucks and loved it because he felt quite full from the fries and huge burger. I have now had my fair share of food truck fests, and I am glad I have checked this off my list twice. (I was also at the one in the Spring at the Florida State Fairgrounds.) This one definitely seemed to have more offerings. Some of my favorites that I also saw were Mmmbap, Mr. C'S Grilled Cheese, and Leanne's Cheesecakes. They also had bbq, Jamaican food, Filipino food, Portuguese, & German, just to name a few.

Too many choices and you couldn't try everything. Got food from Aloha to Go, Willy T's Crab Shack, and Jamaica Jamaica. And then we were too full to eat anymore lol. Wish there were sampler sized portions and prices available at the trucks so we could have tried more. Everything we had was delicious though! Will definitely have to visit Aloha to Go's restaurant soon. And that Jamaican patty/coconut bread..YUM. I believe they are based out of Orlando though. Event seemed very organized. We were able to get our passes quickly when we arrived (thanks Candy!). There were plenty of garbage bins along the road. Got to say hi to some fellow Yelpers while we were there and stopped by the Yelp tent of course lol. Couldn't stay for any of the performances unfortunately. Heard there will be another one sometime in spring of next year at this same location. Might have to check it out again.

Not sure what's up with Gerard leaving a bad review for a closed brick and mortar location…read more They're still open for catering and Saturday morning market when it's open. Love the bbq here! The best ribs I've ever had. I even got a slab for the 4th of July and all my friends loved them as well. The brick and mortar was never in a bad location not was anyone rude that worked there and it certainly wasn't a dive. The owner worked very hard to remodel the restaurant and made it very nice and a perfect atmosphere for food, music, trivia etc. Unfortunately covid forced the brick and mortar to close but I still stall their bbq. Don't overlook the smoked salmon either! It sells quickly cause it's sooooo good. I love that you have your choice of pita bread and not the basic garlic toast you get everywhere. Trust me, be a stalker too! It's the one time it's socially acceptable!

But now, having a one-year old, it's actually kind of nice to have something to do like drive to St. Pete for a meal because it's something to shake up the normal routine. And if I've learned anything about one-year old's, they do not like the same old, same old. MNM has the vibes of an old school bar that hasn't been renovated in decades. It's dark and smells of cheap beer. It was kind of charming in a way, because it's been so long since we've been to a place like that. My wife and I both ordered a two-meat + two-sides plate so that we could share a bunch of things. I'll rate each of those: Brisket: 3.5 stars. Ribs: 1.5 stars. Tendons all throughout every bite made them almost impossible to eat. Pulled Pork: 3.5 stars. Pulled Chicken: 5-stars. Easily the best meat we ordered, and normally I'm not really a fan of ordering chicken at a BBQ restaurant. Baked Beans: 4.5-stars. Definitely not just your standard baked beans. Potato Salad: 4-stars. Ditto to above. Twice Baked Potato: 5-stars. Possibly the most delicious overall item. My wife certainly thought so. Bacon Mac-n-Cheese: 5-stars. Also, a must-have. And we really liked the option of choosing garlic pita for our bread. That was definitely a unique touch. Overall, we enjoyed our experience. I'm glad to see the culinary scene of St. Pete expand a bit north of downtown.
