Let me start by acknowledging that bbq is not my go to meal. Beef isn't my go to protein. That being said, I totally enjoyed my meal at Ohgane! The service was great and ordering on the tablet (which shows helpful pictures of everything) let us take our time and not feel pressured ordering. Staff also replaced our grill multiple times throughout our meal so we wouldn't get smoked out :) The food is good. It's not the best (go to san ho won for that) but it's satisfying and there's good variety. I had shrimp, baby octopus, grilled veggies, in addition to all the other meats my dinner mates ordered. I was impressed with the brisket but my mates both liked the "finger meat" best. The banchan was alright. They missed a few of our side orders but no biggie cause you can just re order them later (though there is a timer for each section of the menu. e.g.. you're blocked from ordering sides until ~10 min has passed since you last placed an order for sides. read more

We always order the corn cheese and steamed egg, and I also love the soondoobu tofu stew, fresh salad, dipping sauces, and all the other banchan that keep coming out. My favorite way to eat here is wrapping the grilled meat in pickled radish slices and adding whole garlic cloves for the perfect bite. As for the meats, we always load up on the pork belly, bulgogi, and beef brisket. The staff does a great job keeping up with refills and replacing the grill grate. Horrible experience tonight. We were seated and patiently waited for our order to be taken. However, we waited quite a long time and no one came to take drink or food order. So.much.fun We've been to Ohgane years ago, but I feel with kiddos, everything feels different. A friend called ahead to make a reservation for a special birthday, and we were seated upon arrival. With a big group we split up our tables so each group could have access to a tabletop mesquite grill. We chose the "all you can eat" option and honestly, went ham! We chose a variety of meats, chicken, shrimp, veggies, and ordered corn cheese, potstickers, the veggie pancake, seaweed salad, and honestly, such a variety of items. The staff was patient and helped to guide us on how to cook the meats and what sauces to pair nicely with each protein. We had quite the spread. It was fun to try something different and enjoy a foodie experience with others who had never done ayce Korean bbq before. We ordered beers, the staff brought a shot for the birthday special guest, and an ice cream sandwich with candle at the end of the meal. All such nice touches. We would definitely come back again soon with a group. I enjoyed the small ice cream freezer by the exit you can leave cash for, and the street parking outside of restaurant (we came on a weekend so not sure how weekdays are). The security helped guide us in the parking spaces. It is quite tight. We put our name down for the waitlist and it was only a 5-10 mins wait (we came on a Tuesday night). You get to choose between regular or premium choices at different price points and then place your order on the tablet at the table and meats start rolling out fairly quickly thereafter. There are constant grill changes, which is appreciated. The 2010s music could be lowered a tad bit but it's still a chill environment. Our favorites were definitely the spicy pork belly, the bulgogi, and the beef short ribs for the meats. The marinate on all meats were on point! We also really enjoyed the corn cheese and jhap chae from the small plates menu. Overall, I definitely enjoyed the AYCE Korean BBQ options here since they have a good variety across the board for meat, seafood, and vegetables. Once seated, our servers regularly checked in to see if we needed anything and even went out of their way to change our grill multiple times once it became charred, without us having to ask. Food also came out quickly after ordering, so there wasn't much wait time between rounds. I also liked the table call button, which made it easy to get a server's attention when needed. The grill heat was consistent and didn't need constant adjusting or randomly die down, unlike at other Korean BBQ spots. As for the food, your experience will likely depend on what you order. I only tried a few meats, but the bulgogi was great. The garlic pork belly was quite salty so my table couldn't finish it, though the other pork options were enjoyable. Came in for Mother's Day lunch and easily found parking in their little parking lot. It wasn't busy when my party of 10 arrived we were seated maybe 15 minutes after arrival. Our server was semi friendly but not as attentive but I get it maybe it was short staffed due to the holiday. Ordering the meats was easy, we order off of the tablet on the table and there is sauces on the table already which you can refill like sesame oil, chili sauce, & salt. There is additional sauces you can order on the tablet. The meats came out fairly quick upon ordering however our sides often came out missing each time our order was sent out. It almost felt like a bother asking them about our side orders, but we just kept ordering on the tablet till we eventually got them. First, a restaurant with an actual parking lot? Love that. The inside is slick and spacious with tables to seat 2-6. Two all you can eat menus and separate lunch offerings ala carte. The all you can eat looked great but I opted for the Lunch Box with the beef ribs. Lunch items came with a bowl of soup that was spicy good. The box came with so many different bites with seemingly obligitory salad (not sure why). The service was good and attentive but not intrusive. Ohgane is literally the OG All you can eat Korean BBQ place. They really know what they are doing. Over the years, they have honestly their menu and setup for maximum efficiency. The place is clean and their servers are fast and on it!! They proactively offer to replace the grill and they are quick to bring out things as requested. This time around, I love that they have added pads at the table to place orders. Stuff comes out within minutes of submitting order. Side quest recognition: my husband accidentally dropped his wallet last night. We came back at opening and they had it ready to hand over. They are used to this and know how to keep things safe. TLDR: all you can eat but the quality of the meats isn't that great. We haven't been to Ohgane in about 7 years, during the Before Times. But we were excited since the last time we ate, it was a good meal at a fair price. This time we were disappointed. It was a middling meal at a high price. I'll start with the positive. The wait staff were amazingly friendly and prompt. They were stellar. The ambience has gone downhill. The place desperately needs a make over. The floors are sticky. The tables are sticky. The menus are sticky. The music is too loud. The ventilation system isn't coping. It feels a bit tired and dated. By far the worst was the food. The ban chan was small and did not evoke joy. The meats were plentiful but lower quality of cuts. The provided dipping sauces were really disappointing. The selection of sauces was just meh and they individually were meh. For just meh, the cost per person was a bit eye blistering. I think you could do much better ordering a la carte elsewhere In summary, AYCE but I didn't eat until I was stuffed to the gills because it just didn't taste that great. Instead went to Piedmont to get some ice cream. That should say it all. read more

Food is good, but the reason my rating changed from a possible 5 to 3 is because of the service. The place closes at 10pm. Me and my partner around at 8:30pm thinking we having plenty of time. The ordering is limited which is completely fine and understandable, but they took 15 minutes to bring our first order out. All of a sudden around 9:16pm, the tablets turn red and a worker comes to our table and says "last call." We did the Plan B option, which includes AYCE + more, so they wanted us to think of everything on their menu and take a guess at what we would like for the rest of the time we expected to be there. I'm sorry, but when I go to AYCE, I order based off of 1. What I like & 2. How full I am. So we ordered, what we thought would be a decent amount for the rest of the nice. At 9:30pm, I asked if it was okay to squeeze in ONE corn cheese and the guy said "absolutely not, we've already put everything away" if you don't know what corn cheese is .... It has corn and cheese in a foil. Not only that but the service use to be really good here. We had to ask for napkins 5x to three different people before it came, we had to re order items that they forgot about, and nobody came to refill water. Everybody was so focused on getting everybody out before 10pm that they completely ruined my experience. To top it off, they placed the check on the table and said they needed us to pay right then and there, mid riceful in my mouth. Typically if I notice there aren't any staffing, I give companies a break, but they had 4-6 servers walking around one section & half the tables had people in them. I haven't wrote a review in a long time and I decided to write this one because how disappointed I was. I paid about $48 per person just to get rushed out and if they would've told us last call would come at a short period of time after coming in, we would've not paid that price and left. If they want to be all cleaned up and leave at 10pm, then for the manager please set your closing time to 9pm because again, that ONE experience ruined this place that I once spoke so highly of. Moving forward, I don't & won't recommend this place if you're going to dinner between 8-9:16pm I guess. Food is good but not worth it because of the service, other places will have the same food and better service in the Bay. read more
