The only downsides to the stay are the limited availability of rooms due to long term residence by oil & gas workers in the area, the faint "smoky" smell, and the age/wear of the facility. But even though the place is in need of long overdue remodel, it's not dirty at all. So if you don't mind furniture from 1972, it's a bearable place for the price.

I visited Piatt Park over Memorial Day weekend and tent camped. The website provides details that I won't go over but I'll mention what stood out to me. We used #10 campsite that is perfect and best for tent camping. Not all the camp sites are ideal or good for tent camping so you will want to call ahead and reserve the site if you are tent camping. You could set up a large canopy or several tents in this site. Several folks had RVs or homes they pulled and hooked up. There are electric hookups. Each site has a fire ring. There is a shelter that likely fits 50 people and has electrical outlets and one grill. There is a nice playground and a few hiking trails. The nature trail is fairly steep for the first 100 yards and if you are short of breath you'll have to rest a few times. Folks brought their pets. I saw several families with kids. Everyone a pleasant.

After looking into the park turns out not Christians at all looks to be a way for land owner Jim Wagner to avoid paying tax on oil profits from wells located at park. Also talking to local land owners Jim has been know to bully land owners was fined by epa for destroying wet lands . Also oil traffic ruining roads and dust for nearby land owners is horrible . This place is not where gods word and people belong it's the perfect example of greed and sin . Using the name of the lord to get rich of the fruits of the land he stole . We had my nephew's graduation party at Zion, and even though it rained a good bit, we still had a…read morewonderful time. We were able to enjoy early morning kayaking (before the storms arrived) and had the lake to ourselves. It was beautiful and peaceful. The rain actually enhanced the stay, because the large porch provided a comfortable, dry place to watch the passing storms. And the views are just incredible. The cabins are lovely, and well worth the money. The beds are comfortable, sheets are soft and towels are high quality. The kitchen comes fully stocked with whatever you may need and they even provide lawn chairs so you can sit around the fire ring. There's a dish washer, and washer/dryer. All the comforts and conveniences of home! The only thing I would add is mini blinds or curtains on the bedroom windows, so one may darken their room if they'd like. We love coming here and can't wait to return. When I visit home from Texas, it's the first place I want to come. Zion is Mother Nature at its finest!
