O.J. Insulation just completed a sizable job at my personal residence that included installing foil radiant barrier in (4) separate attics between my house and guest house. I have a black composite roof, so the attic temperature was reaching over 130 degrees on hot days. Since the installation of the radiant barrier, I'm already experiencing a temperature reduction of just over 20 degrees. To confirm that, I have (5) window gables that aren't directly over living space and thus didn't require the installation of a radiant barrier to those sections. Now I can easily monitor the temperature difference with (2) quality digital thermometers and confirm the difference between the untreated gable areas and the treated primary attic spaces that are directly above my homes living area. This is a remarkable difference. My ceilings are no longer radiating heat into my home like they were before (even with the R19 ceiling insulation and gable vent fans that were originally installed). My air conditioning units and ducting, which are in the attic are no longer struggling to keep up due to extreme attic temperatures and now running less often to keep my home cool. Now let me talk about my experience with O.J. Insulation. First, I called (3) companies that stated online that they install radiant barriers. The other two companies both made appointments but didn't show-up or call to reschedule. O.J.'s estimator (Paul) made the appointment, confirmed the appointment the day before and showed-up on time. He was thorough with his inspection and suggested the best approach to achieve the attic cooling goal I was looking for. A week later a (3) man crew spent an entire 3-days working in my attics, which at the time reached temperatures of 120 degrees (I don't know how they were able to work in those conditions). The entire crew was polite, courteous, and extremely hard workers. My wife even made lunch for them every day because we were so appreciative of what they were doing for us. I highly recommend O.J. Came into my home for an in person estimate and said he'd email me the quote but never actually did.

We contracted with OJ Insulation to clean our attic and install new insulation. We were shocked at how much dirt and "material" came out of our attic. Roofing and air conditioning workmen from years past had left old shingles and discarded ducts up there, and we have had our fair share of rat residents, leaving what they leave (yuck). OJ's team cleaned out ALL OF IT, along with the old insulation. OJ technicians bagged the mess cleanly and almost dust free, which was important to us because the access to the attic was between 3 bedrooms. OJ's crew then vacuumed the entire attic and made it ready for the new R38 batt insulation. The result is a cooler house, fresher air in the house, and peace of mind that the attic is no longer a hot mess. Amazingly, It also seems quieter in the house! Edwardo was our onsite OJ Insulation customer experience manager, and he kept the job moving, maintained a clean workspace, and when finished left a clean job site. I cannot say enough good things about this company. I hired them to insulate our garage, which my wife uses as a photo studio. I met with Mark, who gave me the estimate, and Clark, who came by the day before the scheduled work to double check to make sure the crew could get to the ceiling, and then the crew, who came to do the labor. Each time they were on time. The two men who did the installation, Rene and Jose, set up their equipment and worked non-stop until lunch. After their lunch, they went right back to it and did not stop until they finished. They are very professional and did a fantastic job. We couldn't be happier with the results. We had them cover the insulation with a white covering, and the garage is so much brighter it doesn't even seem like our dark garage anymore. I recently contacted OJ Insulation to install insulation in our roof. A representative responded to my inquiry the same day and scheduled a time to come out to our property to advise us of our options. Mark arrived right on time and gave us an honest assessment and to discuss our options, which included a recommendation AGAINST moving forward with roof insulation due to the low pitch of our roof. He recommended waiting until we replace the roof to do insulation, since insulating the roof now would not give us the results we wanted for the cost. I truly appreciate his honesty, professionalism, and expertise. I expect that most companies would sell the job even if it wouldn't produce very good results, but not Mark. I was looking for an insulation company for my house. Probably, like everyone else yelp or google are starting points and then you go in blind calling companies. It's difficult to get the feel for a business without having someone come to your house, but you do get a sense of what a company is about from how they deal with customers. I don't like to assume, so all I can say is they were not responsive to my phone call, and not too helpful either in locating the right service rep. I scheduled an appt anyways to give them the benefit of the doubt, and lo and behold they disappointed. No follow up or confirmation call to verify if they were coming and then when I did get a hold of someone he had not even left the office. My wife and I have owned this home for 20 years and never had a problem. Then our fireplace had an issue and wouldn't light. we called ANOTHER contractor and they put in a part at the end of the winter early spring. Several months later we tried to light the fireplace and it would not light. We called them and they said they couldn't help us. I had OJ Insulation out at my parents' home today to performed a much needed wall insulation because their bedrooms were an iced cold box in the winter and an oven during the summer. With the gas company rebate, the project was extremely affordable. Had I known the service was this affordable, I would have done it much earlier! Both Hector and Alex arrived early in the morning and got the work done by mid afternoon. They were both professional and meticulous throughout the whole process making sure no additional damages were done to the walls. wow what a great company. I had hired another company, inner city skyline, to insulate my home but they never showed up and the situation was a mess. I called OJ immediately. I was told Mark would call me right back and he did. He gave me a quote and I waited for 2 other companies to call me regarding quotes and they did not. So I hired OJ and set a date. The only problem I had was in paying them. My hours and those in their accounting dept did not meet but I was finally able to contact them to put down the required 10%, The day the work was to be done they showed up EARLY. This company is terrible, we contracted them to complete a 1100 sq ft residential new construction insulation installation. I am not a contractor, this is my own house. The job was not handled promptly, they were repeatedly delayed in or project, sending wrong materials, swapping them back and forth and constantly delaying the job. We found at least 5 beer cans behind our insulation when we were doing last minute electrical, who knows how many are left in there or what else they did to my house. Against title 24 recommendation, insulation was installed incorrectly blocking attic vents, rather than cutting the insulation batts to fit in the triangular spaces they rammed the square end into the corners blocking all attic ventilation. We asked them to install the baffles thinking they would complete it correctly but they still jammed it in pushing the baffles up to the plywood and blocking the vents which we had to correct when installing attic screen mesh. Additionally when it came to subfloor insulation, we have support and batts hanging below the joists, insulation debris all over the crawlspace floor. We want them to come back and finish the job so that we may remit payment but they are convinced this is completed work, we have still not seen one supervisor in our house to oversee any of the work. Our repeated follow ups and emails are not responded to promptly, now they are attempting to hammer us with mails to pay the remaining balance up. I have had a great experience with OJ Insulation/Fireplaces. I dealt with Ramiro Serrano who went over and above my expectations. Initially our contractor ordered a fireplace from Ramiro which we did not like. Ramiro was very patient and helpful and guided us on what was available. When I finally figured out which fireplace I wanted, it was one that you guys did not carry yet, but the company that did carry it was the same campany as OJ Insulation through a recent merger. Ramiro was able to help me order the right fireplace and had it installed very efficiently. When I had any questions, Ramiro answered them quickly and always called me back in a timely manner. Almost a year later, I called Ramiro to ask him why my fireplace did not come with a screen, Ramiro arranged for his foreman to personally come to my house to figure out the size and serial number of my fireplace so I can order it for free from their website. These guys are absolutely among the worst companies that I have ever attempted to work with. I was referred to them by a contractor that I work with for my new home that I am building. They came out to give me a bid and disappeared. We called them on multiple times was assured that we would get a bid within the next day or two. No reply. I even tried calling the general manager of this place and yet again no reply. I understand if you are busy and do not have time for a project, but for the sales rep and manager to just ignore you is a complete waste of time and effort a more importantly shows their character. Hate to see the quality of their work if they can't even give you a simple bid to start. read more

We hired OJ to install floor insulation for a customer in the Inland Empire. Nobody showed up on the originally scheduled date. They rescheduled for the following week and showed up with the wrong size material. The third time they showed up and reported that they completed the job as scheduled. Several days later the customer ended up opening up her bathroom floor as part of their remodel and was horrified to discover there was no insulation under that floor, which was included in the square footage she had paid for. When we inquired OJ admitted they were unable to reach that area and there was several hundred square feet that were skipped. Only then did they agree to discount the price. The customer also complained that nearly half of the area for which they DID supposedly do the batts had apparently fallen down because they were lying on the ground. OJ was called out a FOURTH time to reinstall the batts properly only to have the customer complain to us that, upon checking, there were still numerous batts lying on the ground. We apologized repeatedly and agreed not to charge the customer for the floor insulation. When we reported the situation back to Mark Teagle at OJ and reported that their incompetent handling of the project had cost us several hundred dollars in profit his response, rather than apologize, was to insist that we reimburse them for their cost of material and take a loss on the job they had cost us. We said we were open to that but felt it didn't seem fair, as they were the sole reason we had to lose the job and his response was to say "well, this is coming out of MY pocket so fine, but we're not going to work with you anymore." Steer clear of these guys. Especially if you're a contractor. I know several contractors who have reported bait-and-switch tactics when OJ's guys made mistakes on measurements rather than do the right thing and absorb the difference. And at least one of the reps was someone other than Mark Teagle so I know it's not isolated to one bad rep. They don't always make mistakes but when they do they don't want to take responsibility for them. The buck only stops with OJ when it doesn't hurt their bottom line. read more

My electrician, Mike from West Coast Electric in Covina recommended me to call Bill Patton at OJ Installation to get a estimate. I contacted Bill and requested a quote for my 1850 sq ft home and told him I wanted the insulation rolled on and not sprayed. Bill gave me the quote for both to give me an option, but I still elected to go with the insulation rolled in. The quote was reasonable much less than a couple of other quotes I had got from other companies. Because of the pandemic OJ Installation in Azusa emailed me the contract, I signed and scanned the contract and shot it back to them and my job was scheduled. Todd Riffey's installers Eduardo Fregoso (Lead Installer), and Josias Estrada arrived early in the morning on the date scheduled. They politely introduced themselves, respectful both wearing masks, and came ready to start the job. They were both professional and meticulous throughout the whole process making sure no damages were done inside my house as they were working.
