We showed up a few minutes before our tee time and from the moment we walked in to pay the two guys gave us total attitude and said we were 10 minutes late? I'm not going on tour boys, I come to play golf for FUN! Course Marshall was a great guy! Other golfers were super friendly! The maintenance guy was a beauty and was coincidentally following us around as he was cutting grass and even threw us balls he was finding which was awesome! This was helpful considering I only had time to get 3 balls for the two of us before our round because the guys inside made such a fuss. Course is well kept and very easy to play even if you aren't great at golf golf like us! If you think you're going to the show maybe you'd like the guys here otherwise I'd look elsewhere!

This is a nice course, generally flat, and with an interesting layout. The first hole poses an…read moreinteresting challenge with a stream running though the middle of the fairway about 200 yards out. Several holes border the airport, so stay focused while planes take off or land in your backswing. One hole was under repair during our visit, using a temporary green. There are some long challenging par 4's and par 3's and plenty of opportunities to roll into the trees, so pay attention.

We were excited to try it, especially after reading on the website that Hillview welcomes golfers of all skill levels. Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by an interaction with a staff member. As we were finishing the first hole, a young employee approached us and told us that we needed to be faster and that there was "no reason" for us to be spending that much time on one hole. We explained that we were beginners and genuinely didn't realize there was an expected pace of play. While he acknowledged that it was our first time, the way the message was delivered felt dismissive and unwelcoming rather than helpful. What made the situation more frustrating was that there was nobody behind us. We had booked the last tee time of the evening, so we weren't holding up other golfers. Additionally, at no point when we paid just under $200 were we informed that there was a time limit or that we were expected to complete each hole within a certain timeframe. That information would have been very helpful for first-time players like us. The interaction completely changed the atmosphere for us. It took the enjoyment out of the experience to the point that I stopped playing, and so did my uncle, as we were there as his guests. I don't blame the young employee personally, as I'm sure he was following instructions from management. However, there are much better ways to approach new golfers. A friendly reminder such as, "Just so you know, we try to keep groups moving at a certain pace. Since you're new, here are a few tips that might help. Enjoy your round!" would have been much more appropriate and welcoming. What disappointed me most is that Hillview's website specifically states that the course is for everyone and welcomes golfers of all skill levels. As beginners, we didn't feel that reflected in our experience. It's unfortunate because we were genuinely enjoying ourselves until that moment. New golfers should leave feeling encouraged to come back, not embarrassed or discouraged from continuing to play.

The course is absolutely stunning--elevated tee boxes, sweeping views of Kelowna and Okanagan Lake, and a layout that's both challenging and fun. Every hole felt unique and thoughtfully designed. The conditions were top-notch--lush fairways, fast and true greens, and well-maintained bunkers. It's definitely a course that rewards good shot placement, but still enjoyable for mid-handicappers like me. Staff were super friendly and even threw in a birthday wish, which made the day feel extra special. The clubhouse and patio were a great spot to grab a drink and soak in the views after the round. Tower Ranch is a must-play if you're in the Okanagan--especially for a special occasion. Couldn't have asked for a better birthday round!
