This place is hit or miss ... food off the bar is some what cold.. salad bar is bare . Food bar running out of food , lots of empty pan.. workers doing the best they can to keep up.. we had the beef tips and rice.. it used to taste homemade .. now it taste like it's out of a can .. :( read more

This place is under new management. The exterior looks rough, but they have spruced up the interior. It is clean with great servers. The value for the price is great. There is a daily plate lunch that looks great, but I am partial to the shrimp salad. I have had the shrimp salad and the fried fish as well as hamburgers. I must say that the shrimp salad is my go to. It is fresh and is loaded with seasoned boiled shrimp. At only $11.00 it is a steal. The fried fish comes with hush puppies and coleslaw. I like the mayo based coleslaw so this is great for me. My husband says that the chicken fried steak is the best that he has eaten. The waitstaff is friendly and helpful. This place has a seafood buffet on the weekends and even has soft serve ice cream. One of my favorite things is that the restaurant is quiet enough to be able to converse with the people at your table. read more

Last time I came here I had fried catfish it was good but today I messed up by ordering the fried round steak. Would you like country fried steak? you have to ask for the gravy? But the meat is so thin that it's hard to find it in all that breading. The chicken & dumplings should have just been called mushy dumplings, because there was only one strand of chicken that was like it is then as a piece of hair. The dumplings are totally on edible so they were just were just raw mush. The fried cornbread was like something out of from outer space. I couldn't even bite into it so I have the waitress read me just regular cornbread. Yes, I could bite into it, but it had no taste, bland!!!! The service is good and staff is friendly The food was inedible so I'm not stopping next time I'm just gonna keep my foot on the pedal pedal to the metal and keep on Truckin!!! Ordered food to go. They said it would be five minutes. I should have seen that as a red flag! Chicken strip dinner: cold, processed, flavorless chicken... the toast was good. Shrimp and Oyster dinner: no shrimp or hush puppies. Tiny, dried up oysters. French fries good. Both to go boxes looked like they had chili or something smeared on them. So, if you are hungry for toast and fries in a dirty container, this is the place to go! First and last time for me. read more

I have been eating here for roughly 30 years. The food is great and service is awesome. I have never had a bad experience or a messed up order. The owners are super nice and employees are hard working. Definitely a place to visit in Farmerville!! read more

Nice little jewel we lucked up on! The oyster poboy was great and the bread they used was phenomenal. Loved the jalapeño poppers as a starter! At first I was worried because they were so browned but THEY WERE GREAT! I also got the shrimp peel and eat. I told the waiter spicy as I find when I say that it's never enough but I must say these were a nice heat to them! Everything was good right down to the sweet tea. We got our plates in no time although it was the middle of the day so they were not so busy. Peanut butter cake was off the chain. Definitely a Place to start when on the road. read more

There are SO MANY things wrong with this place. For starters, it is extremely crowded with items when you first walk in. We seated ourselves and waited for twenty or so minutes before having a waitress come to us. When she asked for orders, we all ordered something different so each of us could try a bit of each meal. The staff were not wearing gloves, hair nets, shoes, or even full shirts and were instead dressed with shorts and tank tops. I understand it is hot, but that doesn't mean I want sweat in my food because you don't want to wear full clothing. As we waited an hour and a half for our food, we noticed they were reusing the same utensils, frying baskets, and oil for everything they cooked. When we finally received our food, it was bland and overcooked. We were charged over $40 for four small meals that only included one side each. This place is a health hazard. We will not be returning. read more

Wow! What an unexpected surprise from this Farmerville icon. If you're looking for fancy and white table cloths, not the place. If your looking for good food and a come as you are atmosphere, then this is your place. Honestly don't think the previous reviews were very accurate. There's a great nostalgic feeling when you walk in. The waitress was flying solo tonight but did a great job. Great menu with option for grilled if you're cutting back on fried food. We had the Shrimp and Fish platter. Boiled shrimp and catfish were great. Good size portion for two and actually had to get a small to go box. This place gets 5 stars because it checks all the boxes for a family owned restaurant in small town America. They are doing it right. They also do call ahead ordering for pick up. read more

For a country-bumpkin seafood restaurant, this place is alright. Their fried catfish and shrimp could easily be outdone if there were another restaurant in town that served it. We ate here Saturday evening at about 6pm. We ordered the buffet. The salad bar was skimpy. There was lettuce, shredded cheese, tomato, chopped boiled egg, pickles and an off brand of dressing. All of the food on the buffet was cold. The fried fish, boiled shrimp, okra, corn fritters, French fries....cold. I'd have to say the premade hush puppies and prebattered shrimp was the best thing there. The air conditioning didn't work well, and my husband literally had sweat pouring off him. The girls working in the front, had sweat rags, wiping sweat off their arms and forehead. We went to pay the bill, and got a view of the filthy kitchen. My worse experience ever. The service is horrible. The floors where sticky oh and it is carpet that is sticky. The food was just as bad my steak was soaked on salt the shrimp where rubbery like the were boiled then grilled. I have been there many times and never had a problem with the place. Have you ever been invited to someone else family reunion. Where everyone knows everyone else. The buffet is like going in the kitchen and fixing your plate. Absolutely love this restaurant and I've been a routine visitor for over 15yrs now! Prices are a little steep for my budget but at least once a month I treat myself to a seafood plate with all the trimmings from fish, shrimp, frog legs, gumbo, salad, and etc. The menu ranges in variety from hamburgers, po-boys, steak, all types of seafood, huge supply chain of meats, and plenty of sides and desserts to go with it. It's definitely worth the price!! I've never had one bad experience in my history of visits, at least none I can remember, that speaks volumes about their service and product because it's rare to find a restaurant in this area that I haven't witnessed firsthand or even heard second-hand of any negative input in reference to it at all. My wife and I ate dinner at this restaurant. The staff was friendly and the restraint was clean. We did not get the buffet which I assume does not happen often. It took us about 45 minutes to get our food. I had the grilled catfish which was good, but not great. My wife had the grilled chicken and it was awful. It looked like the chicken you would get from the frozen food section at a supermarket. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Do not waste your money and time. There were 13 people in there on a Thursday night. After our food still had not arrived after 63 minutes, the waitress said "sorry it taking so long. We are slammed!" 13 people is their definition of "slammed". Lol. Maybe their food is great but to my family of 6 it was not worth the wait. We counted only 4 cars plus ours in the parking lot. Really wish that we had just gone to the grocery store and cooked at home. Service was horrible and when checking out the woman taking the money was just down right rude. We normally go through the drive thru and take it home, there burgers are very good. We had company from out of town and thought it was be a change to go out and with our options being limited we chose Ol'hickory. Really wish we had got burgers to go. The food was room temp at best and the place was messy and the wait staff was not friendly. read more
