It is generally wide enough to accommodate the runners and occasional bikers that share the space. I prefer the NC state forest for a wilder experience or the botanical garden for a more manicured setting, but the greenway is an asset to its immediate surroundings.

North Carolina does it right with beautiful greenways that are clearly marked, well paved, and lush with nature. They have tons of information about things you'd never have guessed even existed (come here if you're bored with the local food scene and want to find something new) in an easy-to-find format. The staff isn't always the most friendly though... Sometimes they come off as kind of distant, not exactly the most welcoming.

At a time when it was difficult for Blacks to own businesses, homes or pay for services and good. Several of North Carolinas citizens including two African-American entrepreneurs: John Merrick and Charles Spaulding worked toward the goal of generational wealth. These innovative Black citizens used their resources from their smaller businesses such as a barber shop to create North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance and others. Although this initiative received support from the wealthy Duke family (tobacco) with its growing success in the community it soon faced opposition. Several businesses and buildings were vandalized. On March 2, 1902, a group of whites burned down an office owned by North Carolina Mutual. Black Wall Street Historic Parrish Street had several businesses throughout out four blocks. I am not sure if they played previews or not but I don't think they did. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was that it was HOT! Like, wow. It was a fairly nice day. It seemed hotter in the actual theater. The prices of popcorn wasn't bad at all. My brother and I both got an XL popcorn for $6 each. To be honest, it's like a large at other places. We both got a large drink that was $5. My son wanted a water, so I got him a bottled water, which was $2. They ran out of butter, so I could t get any. The popcorn was okay. It definitely wasn't fresh, lol. But I can't expect much from a vintage movie theater. This establishment only has one theater room. There is an entrance on both sides of the concession stand and an emergency exit to the left of the screen. We ended up having to sit in the 3-4th row from the front as everything else was pretty much taken. It seemed that most of the crowd were students from UNC-CH. we enjoyed the movie! Besides the lack of temperature control, it wasn't a bad experience. I would return again if I was in the area. I only came here because it was cheap halfway spot between where I live in Greensboro and where my brother lives in Clayton.

There are only two screens, but they fill them well. If you're not ready to go out into the COVID world yet, get a small group of friends together and reserve a birthday party. I came here for an FSU-Duke game and the stadium isn't huge but it was renovated fairly recently…read moreand has some nice amenities. Most of the seats are individual seats as opposed to backless metal bleachers. They have lots of concession stands and while I'm not a Duke fan it was pretty cool they had an area where Duke fans could ring the victory bell to celebrate their win over UNC. They also have a ton of restrooms so there's not much of a wait. The stadium is mostly outside so it works well on a clear day but I imagine it could be a mess in a heavy rain. I didn't sit there but for an extra charge you can sit on the party deck where I think you get some free food and a cash bar and a side of an awful DJ. Be prepared to wait for an Uber after the game. There's not really a designated place as far as I could tell so we just walked a ways away on campus and ordered from there. They should think about fixing that. The stadium works for what is, a smaller ACC venue and I'd come back here if FSU plays here again sometime.

The American Tobacco Campus was established in 1890 as an industrial center. When the tobacco…read moreindustry left, the campus had to change. The Durham Bulls Athletic Park and the Durham Center for Performing Arts brought new life to the campus. The Old Bull Building is where Lucky Strike was made. Tobacco was a large employer in Durham so when it shut down in 1987 the property started to fall apart and people moved away. Capitol Broadcasting decided in 2004 to purchase the campus and turn these historic buildings into something unique and special. The ATC has offices, apartments, shops and restaurants. There is a courtyard, water features, outside seating and even a train car. It is an easy place to visit with three parking garages nearby and street parking. Then it is fun to walk around and see the remnants of what used to be there.

The limited number of shops and restaurants might not be a bad thing considering how commercial and…read moregeneric many of them felt. Rather than showcasing Durham's unique personality, much of the campus seemed geared toward being a polished mixed-use development that could exist almost anywhere. The bright spots were the nearby home of the Durham Bulls and the iconic Lucky Strike smokestack and water tower, both of which provide a strong sense of place and serve as reminders of the site's history. They were far more memorable than anything I found inside the campus itself. Overall, I found the American Tobacco Campus more interesting as a piece of architecture and historic preservation than as a destination. It's worth a brief stroll to admire the buildings and snap a few photos, but I wouldn't go out of my way to spend much time here.

Short version: Hatcher Creek Greenway is nice resource for the citizens of the Town of Morrisville…read moreto use. Nicely maintained, adequately outfitted with trash cans, pet waste stations, signage, etc., the greenway offers an alternative to driving short distances along Morrisville-Carpenter Rd. by providing a pathway for non-motorized transportation/exercise. The Deets: Hatcher Creek Greenway (HCG) is an almost mile and half pedestrian walkway provided/maintained by the Town of Morrisville. No motorized vehicles are allowed on the greenway. This paved path runs parallel to Morrisville-Carpenter Road and along Hatcher Creek, and linked up with the Crabtree Greenway that provides access all the way to Lake Crabtree with the newly placed extension undercrossing running under Hwy 54/Chapel Hill Rd (however at the time of this writing, the path extension to Town Hall and to the one running under Hwy 54 to Lake Crabtree is not open to any traffic at all). This pathway is great for those wanting to exercise in a more scenic environment, get to Morrisville Community Park by foot, or even walk to the adjacent shopping center near the end of the west side of it. It is pretty well maintained, with benches, trash cans, pet waste stations, and good signage provided. There are also some good linkup connections with the housing complexes along the greenway for access. Use of the greenway is limited to daylight hours only, and there are rules/guidelines to follow (see the pic I nabbed of the greenway map and rules). I think HCG is a very nice way for the Town of Morrisville to provide for the community with good resources, and I enjoy using it.
