If you're looking for a true seaside heirloom, not just a cheap souvenir, you definitely need to stop by the Old Corolla Trading Company. This wonderful shop, located in the Corolla Historic Village, features gorgeous art, whimsical metal toys, brass telescopes and sextons, beautiful tin signs and fabulous furniture. On the first floor, you'll find a 1918 Ford Deluxe Surf Wagon! The second floor is an airy, dreamy room lined with bamboo - you'll want to stay for a cocktail at the bar made from a hot-air balloon basket! Everything is wonderful here but the prices are very steep - a few hundred to a few thousand for handcrafted artwork. The Surf Wagon is priced at $29,000. But even if that's out of your price range, it's still fun to browse - like touring an art museum of the great travels of yesteryear! read more
