    Fried shrimp

This place is a Florida institution and a must visit if you're in the 30A area. It's large, they serve about 2,500 people per night with both indoor and outdoor seating. It's a well oiled machine and I'd recommend reservations, which we had, and were sat promptly after arriving. I ordered the special for the night which was a lobster shrimp and grits. Really, really tasty. Several big pieces of lobster and a few plump shrimp were on top of their take on grits. These grits were a bit different in that it had tomatoes in the grits as well as shaved Parmesan. Anyway, I was pleased with my order. My wife got the fried shrimp, also a good choice which was served with seasoned fries. Our server was attentive and really made sure we had an enjoyable evening.

Truly a classic, and a family favorite of ours to visit on our annual florida vacation. It has a lovely outdoor seating arrangement complete with a variety of ambient lighting, tropical plants, and a beautiful view of the water. Best time to go is around dinner time near sunset (6:00-8:00pm CDT). To ensure the best experience, look into booking in advance on their website, and definitely check out the gift shops while you're there. In my personal experiences, the staff has been very friendly and helpful. Shoutout especially to the sweetest brunette server with the silver industrial ear piercing, you were the best!!! In terms of the food, they offer a splendid menu that sticks with the all-time classics and favorites such as their fresh catch seafood and appetizers. Along with the occasional addition of a few new exciting dishes to try. I would definitely recommend trying the fresh catch seafood specials-- especially the cobia or mahi fish-- it's the perfect, tender whitefish that doesn't have an overly "fishy" taste but doesn't taste "chickeny" or bland either. Additionally, I did go out on a limb with sampling the citrus olive oil cake (I know, olive oil present in anything pastry wise sounds...rather odd, but it was INCREDIBLE). Aside from the great food, there are also many great places to get stunning, Christmas-card worthy photos. The moody ambient lighting and lovely landscape create the perfect atmosphere for pictures, not to mention they have A WHOLE DOCK overlooking the water!! Not only is this magnificent establishment a great place for a peaceful date-night dinner, it has a casual seating area with cornhole pits, and other enriching games for the little ones (don't be fooled, you're NEVER too old for beachy fun games!). If a sunset dinner or late lunch isn't your vibe, no worries!! Check out their conjoined establishment - The Beachy Bean, for some morning pick-me-up coffees, breakfast bites, and adorable souvineers. This adorable abode also has a beautiful beachy scenery, along with a built in bar station (to take the edge off from your teenage daughters demanding iced coffees and soft souvineer shirts... speaking from personal experience on this one.) When it comes to pricing, be aware, be mindful; this is no Long John Silver's. This is definitely a $$-$$$ on the price scale rating for a restaurant. You can definitely keep it simple and sweet on a budget, or go all out and go ham for your fam' and spend a pretty penny. All this to say, it really is worth it for the great food and atmosphere, especially with the live music present more than often. An important thing to also add is PARKING. They can only accommodate so many folks in a humble parking lot (this ain't no walmart or super target). I cannot stress this enough BE PREPARED FOR PARKING ESPECIALLY IF YOU GO DURING PEAK TIMES!! Allow yourself an extra 10-15 minutes minimum if you're attending during peak times in the summer vacation season (May-August). They do operate a valet service, FOR CARS- NOT GOLF CARTS!! KEEP THIS IN MIND!!! Also reminder: for any and all valet services regardless of business or location, take your valuables with you and keep them out of site (things like sunglasses, jewelry, radar detectors, ect...) not to say these specific valet drivers are untrustworthy-- if anything they're great and very efficient-- just a good general rule of thumb. Also, please tip these hardworking fellows!! Alas, I've had nothing but great things to say about this restaurant. There's some solid good reasons (as stated above) my family and I return every year. Please do give this place a try, even if it's just taking a look around or browsing the menu (or forking over $7 for your little girl to get a floofy fancy latte to soothe the caffeine cravings), you won't regret it!! I will say, there are some final things worth noting: 1. THE VALET BOYS NEED REFLECTIVE GEAR I LEGIT ALMOST WTINESSED ONE GET MURKED PAST SUNDOWN FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. 2. Please update the website -- THEY NO LONGER HAVE OYSTERS DUE TO SOME COMPLICATIONS AND RENOVATIONS. 3. I am sad to say, they were fresh out of cobia on the menu at the time I requested, I do hope this inspires you to try it as it's good enough to be fully out of stock. (please carry more cobia it's one of the best fish). Lastly, if you've made it this far, thank you, truly, for reading all of this. And if you're the management, please give the lovely waitress I mentioned earlier a raise, get your valet boys reflective jackets or at least reflective lettering, STOCK THE TOILET PAPER, bring back the oysters, update the website (yes big boss i'm looking at you), and keep that cobia supply nice and high. Have a GREAT and blessed day to all who have read so far I hope my tips and feedback are helpful to someone someday :)

A MUST VISIT if you are in the 30A area. Insane service from the jump. Valet, massive campus with multiple shops and restaurant areas. Epic views, food and service. Excellent place for families and for sitting outside

Was visiting 30A and had heard this place was a must visit. Started off rough where when the host brought us to our table there wasn't enough room between the table and the wall to even pull the chair out. Host walked off before addressing the situation, luckily another waiter stepped in to help. From there we had okay service- felt like we were being rushed out. Food was just okay.

Unique restaurant tucked in amongst boutiques and a coffee shop on 30A. Very popular and crowded. You must have a reservation or you likely won't get seated. You'll see all types of folks- from running shorts to Gucci. Many people come dressed up to take the beautiful sunset pics. As far as the service - impeccable. Our server was great. Highly attentive. We ordered sushi and Mardi Gras pasta. The fish was fresh. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, though we felt they were pretty overpriced for the size. Tip: if you sit outside on a summer night, you may want to spray your legs and ankles with mosquito repellent. Even with the fans, we had a few bites.

Great meal. Sat outside. Lots of people. Large. Venue. Delicious piece of fish, with crab and shrimp. Small crab claws very tasty. I'd skip the calamari -- small portion and just okay. Deserts tasty. Cocktails interesting. Excellent slightly dirty martini. Good service.

Tourist trap! Food was mediocre and expensive. The only food that's decent was the fried crab claws. Our party ordered a few of the fish and some was way overcooked and hard. The gumbo was too peppery. Service is quick and friendly. They also have valet service which helps. But for the amount of money they charge, you might as well go to a fancy restaurant that serves good food. They charged for entertainment fees and credit fees - on top of their highly priced menu. Ambience is nice, by the lake. They have live music but we could barely hear it from where we sit.

Getting to wait in line to leave after some mid overpriced food.

There was food, and outdoors, and music. That was nice. Then there was the food, which ranged from undercooked to overcooked but was consistent in overpriced, undersized(even for normal price) and unimpressive. The wait staff seem to actively dislike their patrons, with them cutting people off while walking or having a poor attitude. Edit with some more fun. You need to wait in line to get your car from valet afterwards. So fun! It is what it is. Tourist trap in 30A.

The extra fees were RIDICULOUS. Very frustrating to pay an extra $55 for no reason. Blackened Mahi (4/5): Small portion but the flavor was pretty good. I liked the Lemon Beurre Blanc sauce because it wasn't too lemon forward. Focaccia (4/5): I typically don't like goat cheese, but this spread was kinda nice. Very creamy. The bread was just ok though. Tuna Dip (3/5): Not super flavorful. I much prefer a smoked whitefish dip. Gumbo (3/5): Decent but I didn't like the okra in it. The ham also wasn't great. Flourless Chocolate Cake (4/5): I really wish this had a crust. The nuts were nice for texture. Maybe a bit too sweet. Key lime pie (4/5): Tasted pretty standard. Good whipped cream that was light and not overly sweet. RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Need to get this again) 4 - Good (Would get this again) 3 - Ok (Might give this another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)

After hearing so many great things about Old Florida Fish House, we finally dined there this past weekend--and it definitely didn't disappoint. Our party of eight chose to sit inside, though the outdoor seating looked just as inviting since the weather was perfect (not hot or humid at all). Our server was friendly and welcoming, taking the time to introduce herself, walk us through the menu, and mention some of the newer items before taking our drink orders. For appetizers, we ordered the Bang Bang Shrimp, Crab Rangoon Dip, and Calamari. Everything was delicious, but if I had to pick a favorite, the Crab Rangoon Dip was the standout. For dinner, I went with sushi--the Spicy Tuna Roll and the Miami Heat Roll. Both were very fresh and generously sized. Most of the rest of the table ordered the Grouper Fish House, which seemed to be a crowd favorite. Honestly, you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. To finish the night, I had the bread pudding for dessert. The combination of warm bread pudding with cold ice cream was the perfect ending to an amazing meal. Tip: Reservations are highly recommended, and they offer complimentary valet, which makes arriving even easier.

The service was fine, but unfortunately the food was very disappointing. Everything was extremely overpriced for the quality we received. Somehow our meals arrived both cold and overcooked, which made it hard to justify the cost. The restaurant itself was packed and felt overcrowded. They do have a small play area, which may be a nice feature for families, but it wasn't enough to make up for the food. Overall, there are much better dining options in the area for the same price point. I wouldn't return based on the food alone.

Heard about this place from a local and thought I'd give it a try. The view was so peaceful and amazing. Great place to visit with family and/or friends. The food was great as well. The hamburger was great, cooked perfectly. The fried shrimp with rice was 10/10, would definitely order again. They do have a lunch menu and a separate dinner menu. The service was standard, although the servicer was attentive he did mess up the order however was nice when corrected. Overall, if you're in the area, I would recommend!

It's a really short walk from where I was staying at, and because of limited parking it was really convenient. We went around 5pm, and it wasn't too busy especially since it was rainy and early into their night hours. We chose to sit outside on the deck. We ordered calarmi to start off, a TNT roll, and a fried shrimp basket. Service was good, and our server was very attentive and patient. They also have a "dock" where you can enjoy drinks and sit by. I would highly recommended coming here early into the night or late night since that's when they have live music. There's also an ice cream window next door, a coffee house, and a wine/beer place too. It's perfect if you want everything to be close by and enjoy your night.

Ask the Community - Old Florida Fish House

Is there a large amount of seating inside the restaurant if we made a prior reservation and now it's raining heavily the day of? (Don't want to pay the fee to cancel)?

It's pretty big on the inside so I would say so! But the outdoor areas also have big wedding like white tents too over all the tables and chairs.

Do you offer the Omokase experience? Is a reservation required? How long does the entire process take? What is the ~cost? Thx.

Yes, they offer five and seven piece Omakase. Really nice. From March through October, highly recommend a reservation.

    Do they take reservations?

They use an app called RESY, its the easiest way to make reservations here.

Do you still have cornhole boards set up?

Yes we do. We also have other outside games.

Is there a kid's menu? Can you order sandwiches at dinner time?

Yes kids menu has 5-6 items plus mocktails. Only sandwich at dinner is a wagyu burger. Additional sandwiches available on the lunch menu.

I see many people have said there is a Military discount including the owner, but we have asked the manager for it twice this year and they said it was not offered, is there a miss communication? We still really enjoy the restaurant!! It's great!

We do offer a military discount! We honor our veterans and active-duty personnel with a 10% discount. All that is needed is a valid military ID. Thanks for asking!

The atmosphere felt welcoming from the moment we arrived, and the staff made the evening special. We started with the Basmati's Pu-Pu Platter, which is a sampling of dumplings, spring rolls, and crab cake. The standout item was definitely the crab cake. It was full of seafood flavoured, while the dumplings and spring rolls were more standard. If you want to try something special, I would recommend ordering the crab cake on its own instead. Next, we had the Firecracker Grouper, a tempura-fried grouper served with a spicy sweet and sour sauce. The fish itself was fresh and nicely fried, but the sauce did not quite work for me. It lacked sweetness and did not enhance the flavor of the fish. Compared to the crab cake, this dish did not have a wow factor. The Chinese Barbecue Duck was a highlight. The duck breast was served on top of a scallion tempura pancake, which made the dish feel creative and innovative. Both the duck and the pancake tasted great. The plating of all the dishes was top notch, and our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu.
