This is challenging because of the small size and limited sites. I try at least six months in advance for a water site. The water sites are hard to get. I will stay at any of them they are all wonderful. The lake is very refreshing and the beach is fun. There is a huge rock in the middle of the lake that my family takes pictures at. It is quit a wonderful view. I love coming here to camp. All the campers are always friendly and polite. I have talked with many and they all think this campground is a hidden gem.

There are 2 lifeguards here. The lifeguards sat playing with their phones on benches near the bathhouses until noon while families waited to get into the water. The no lifeguard on duty/no swimming sign was up that entire time. Every family here, including me, paid $10 to enter. For what? If you can't staff the park, close it entirely or don't charge and make it at your own risk. Secondly, there are No Smoking signs all over the place. I don't smoke, but apparently the staff member charging to park does as he has been smoking while riding his cart around collecting $10.

Nothing but helpful. I do know they offer services other than renting. They will drop you and your kayak off down the road as well as to pick you up. The first time we rented paddle boards to go on Moose River (the ramp to get into the water is right in back of the store). I wouldn't recommended paddle boarding on Moose River though. The water isn't the cleanest, and if you fall in it would be a nightmare lol. $8 and hour to paddleboard on the river, $20 something if you rent a kayak. The second time we rented the paddle boards for the day and went to Nicks Lake (which is a 5 minute drive from Tickners). they drop your paddle boards/ kayaks off at Nicks beach, you just have to sign some quick paperwork and grab life jackets + paddles. It's a $10 admission to get into Nicks Lake but it's pretty much a private beach area with picnic tables, camping, a jungle gym, clean bathrooms, beach area and a life guard. The actual lake was gorgeous. We paddle boarded for 4 ish hours and made it around the entire lake! And the water is clean enough to swim in (it's $28 for the entire day to go on Nicks Lake). I can't wait to come back!

What's more is, I was "that lady" who brought a waterproof phone protector with a neck strap to take pictures with my family and friends. I was also "that lady" who took the neck strap off to avoid tan lines...needless to say, my phone went into the Hudson River without me realizing it! Ethan and his crew were so kind during my personal meltdown, mostly due to me kicking myself for being so careless. They had a group of 80 after us, but assured me they would all look out for it as they had an idea where I dropped it. We called every half hour in the hopes one of the other crews may have discovered the phone, and at 4:50, my husband's phone rang with the amazing news that the phone was found safely! All 3 of our guides looked and I cannot express how grateful I am to them all!! Personal tragedy aside, our entire group said the lazy river was the best part of our trip, and we have already recommended AAC to friends who are traveling to Lake George in the coming weeks! If you're looking for a fun and relaxing way to spend a morning or afternoon, this is a definite must to check for your list!

I'm torn between 2 or 3 stars. I think what it comes down to is what type of camping you are…read moreinterested in. If you are into tenting it and no power, water, etc... This is your place. The sites are huge and well spaced out. They are pretty level and more of a sandy/dirt surface. Perfect and plenty of space for a camper. There are a sufficient amount of bathrooms spaced out. There is only one building with 4 showers for women and 4 for men. They had great water pressure. They were HOT as can be! There is a timer button in the outer area that you push that turns on the water. You can't control the temp or on/off. You can run generators from 9-11am and 4-7pm. It is very shady in there. Mid-day at our site, you almost felt like it was getting dark out already. There is a beach that the lifeguard chair clearly had not been moved this year. There is nothing to occupy the kids, such as a playground, rec center, etc... The mosquitos were insane! Maybe it was because there was very little meat - there were only 2 other campers on our huge loop. If there was power, I think we would be more likely to return. Without the power and activities for the kids, if in the area again, we would seek someplace else out.

I stayed here for one night in early July while hiking in the region. $20 per night (plus a $9 reservation fee) might be a little steep compared to other states, but it gets you clean restrooms, free showers, and a large site with a picnic table, fire pit, and bear locker. Yes, I said bear locker. They make you sign a form saying you won't leave food out for the bears when you check in. When I say the site was big, I mean it. Easily space for 2 cars, a decent-sized trailer, and 2 tents on the site and you'd still have room to walk around. My 2-person tent and small car made the place feel empty. Potable water was on the other side of the access road and toilets a short walk away. A wooded buffer space of 20 or so feet separated adjacent campsites, so it didn't feel like anybody was encroaching on my space. No cell service, so I could truly disconnect. The missing star is for a few things. One, the slightly-high price, which admittedly is far cheaper than most other lodging in the region. Two, the only thing sold at the campground is ice, so make sure to buy your firewood and other supplies before you arrive. I don't care about this myself, but if you want utility hookups for a trailer, they don't exist here.

Unbelievable Gem of a park. Like many of the long-forgotten NYS Parks that have remained…read moreunderfunded and understaffed, visitors can immediately tell this park used to be a prime tourist destination once-upon a time. A walk around the park revealed that it once had a multitude of well-maintained campsites complete with running water to each site and a bathhouse within walking distance. All campsites appear to be ready to re-open if money would be provided for proper maintenance. Maybe cabins could be built on the dozens of once used camping lots... why not? This park is still very well maintained. Very clean facilities with all lawn areas / shrubs / trees well kept. Very interesting park to walk around. Incredible forest growth, very old trees providing plenty of shade while walking around the park. There appears to be two very nice hiking trails to explore. One on the South-end of the park that winds through the long-forgotten campsites of yesteryear. Another trail to the West of the swim area leads down to a secluded beach area. Park has excellent well-maintained pavilions with very large BBQ pits and plenty of seating. Admittedly the #1 problem with these pavilions appears to be the number of mosquitoes within the vicinity. Would it be too expensive / cost prohibitive to add mosquito netting around the perimeter of the pavilions?? Seems an easy fix to attract more visitors to use and pay for the use of facilities. Even a small pavilion with some netting over a few of the picnic tables would go a long way toward attracting visitors. This is a beautiful park in a beautiful and historic neighborhood. This was a delight to check out while I was visiting the town of Remsen across the lake. Well-worth the trip and I will be returning.

The boat has a fish finder and other navigation but you bring your poles and other fishing stuff. The lake is so calm and beautiful. All your stress will melt away immediately... The guy Gavin, I will give him a Viking name, Gavin the Strong, he was great. Gavin the Strong actually jumped into the water and *PUSHED the boat* down to the end of the dock entrance since one of our party was having problems getting out of the boat onto the dock. This a really nice outing to take if you want to do something different and fun. If the water is rough or you can't get back for any reason, they will come get you.
