Ali's, wonderfully, doesn't feel cheap... there's nothing dingy or unclean about the place... everything is kept tidy and orgnanised and beautifully stacked. I was chatting to the owner and they make a trip up to London daily to get their stock and everything is always very fresh. The prices are comparable with the supermarket, but you may end up paying a little more if you use the greengrocer. Still, there is always a better quality of product here and you know it hasn't been sitting around in a supermarktet cold room for a couple of weeks before going onto the shop floor. They also sell a number of natural drinks like ginger beer and dandelion and burdock (one of my faves). I imagine that a number of the local restaurants would be using this place for their fruit and veg and this really can't be a bad thing. Rather than stop off at a newsagent for a chocolate bar, you wouldn't go wrong to pick up something from here instead.
