My wife and I visit Savannah a few times a year, and finding this place was a wonderful new highlight of our trips. Old Savannah Distillery is an impressively large, southern-style restaurant and bar with a very cool interior design, a gift shop, and a distillery sampling room. We stopped in for lunch and had what was easily our best meal in Savannah. We sampled several menu items--yummy deviled eggs, the quiche was great, and the cornbread was so darn good. Our lunch entrees were cooked perfectly and were incredibly tasty. Afterward, we enjoyed some excellent afternoon cocktails at the bar. The service was top-notch; our server, "Tara," was very attentive, and the chef, "Diamond," even came out to talk to us. Food, service, and atmosphere are all the best in Savannah. I'm going to start with my only complaint. We got here at 9:30 and wanted to do our tasting before we got on the trolley. The tastings didn't start until 10, which is fine since that gave me time to look through the gift shop. I bought a t-shirt and eight jars of honey (for souvenirs). It wasn't until AFTER the tasting that I received a coupon for 25% one item in the gift shop. The man who informed us about the tasting time, checked me out, and gave me the punch card (for the tasting, with the coupon) were all the same man. I feel like at some point something could have been said about the coupon. It would have only saved me $4, but still! ANYWAYS...the rest of my review is nothing but good things. I LOVE my t-shirt and all of my friends have loved their honey btw. We got Randy for our tasting. Randy was awesome. He was very informative and interesting without being boring. I had a taste of the Savannah Mule, the CAP, and the Sweet Tea Vodka. I bought some of the Mule Mix and the Sweet Tea Vodka to take home too. DELICIOUS. The CAP was probably my least favorite but we did try another restaurant's version of it in our travels later that day and OSD's was far superior. The Mule mix was $20 and needs to be used within two weeks so I think I'll save it for my next vacation so I can share and make sure that it gets used in a timely manner. It says that you can pair it with the Sweet Tea Vodka ($30 for a fifth) so I'm debating on saving that or just going ahead and drinking it with some La Croix Limoncello....decisions! I would definitely check this place out especially if you are taking the trolley tour. My mom and little cousin didn't drink and were provided mocktails so it was fun for everyone! Ps. The vibe of this place is hopping! Super cool, steam punk artful interior. The atmosphere gives this place super potential! The food was just ok, edible. I ordered their signature WHISKEY BURGER which comes with a whiskey jam on the burger. Patty reminded me of a frozen patty from grocery store. Ingredients and bun were not overly flavorful. The beer selection limited, but great prices! I recommend their HOUSE LAGER ON DRAFT at its affordable price point (or two). Ironically the liquors were not featured, which was a big disappointment for a place called a distillery. Menu didn't include spirits. I asked waitress about what bourbons they have and she had to go check and came back to list off a few national brands such as Buffalo Trace. I asked if they they had any of their own, and she said, oh yeah! Then she listed a few such as Mint Julip, and Pecan. I was confused and asked if those were cocktails or whiskeys. She wasn't sure and had to go check...wait, what? I finally figured they only offer flavored whiskeys of their own making. Weird for a distillery. They offer tasting and pairing experiences. I am not convinced they are knowledgeable after this one experience. I will likely not go back any time soon. I feel they are close to something successful and management could find a win by improving food quality and training the staff. read more

The Distillery in Savannah is a good American dining experience. The menu is varied and the service at the bar was attentive and efficient. I had the tomato pie and Caesar salad from the pick two menu. It was delicious and small portions, but adequate. A wide variety of options made this choice perfect for me. First and most important, parking directly at the building is $15. Great if you're also doing the Hop on/off Trolley. Otherwise, park across the street at the public lot. Check in for the class was right when you walk in at the register. They call up to make sure they're ready for your to go up. Then they walk you up and introduce you to your instructor. It's a perfect setting for whiskey drinks. A little dark and moody. Our instructor was Rashee. He was EXCELLENT! He even taught my husband a few things he didn't know. He made the 1st drink while explaining the ingredients and the "tools" needed to make it properly. He answered questions that we had as well. It was made with their Peach Whiskey. I'm not a whiskey person by any means (the class was a side quest for my husband) and I liked the whiskey by itself AND in the drink. The second drink we made while following his direction. It was made with their Brambleberry Whiskey. OH MY! That was S T R O N G. Definitely not for me LOL. However, the drink it was used to make was fantastic!!!! Finished the class with some history about Savannah, how the building came about and a lil ghost story! 12/10 recommend the craft class!! Went into their store where they sell their whiskey, vodka and mixers. Jasmine was super helpful. We were undecided on the 3rd bottle. It was buy 2 get the 3rd free, have to use a deal when it's a good one! She asked what flavors he likes. Since he was still undecided, she sent him to the bar to buy a shot of the pecan flavor. This restaurant is new--like in the last couple of weeks. It is beautifully decorated with all things distilled. The business offers cocktail-making classes and tastings as well. They are adding pairings classes also. Our service was ok. We did have a large group of 8 people and I would say the speed and attentiveness was average. Our server, Deasia, eh... I'm thinking she was having a bad day, and that is the only reason for my 4-star vs. 5-star rating. It was a late lunch for us, and most of us had sandwiches. My wife and I stumbled upon this walking the street and went in for brunch. The inside is decorated nicely. The ladies we dealt with there were super nice and efficient. The place is very clean and we liked the decor. The burger I got was great. Decent size patty with a little grill taste on it -I loved it. My wife ordered a quiche and that's where it went wrong. It came in a tinfoil dish like you'd get with a frozen pot pie from a grocery store, but smaller. I know it's not a fancy restaurant or little bistro, but make a little effort. The taste was decent but it was too small. For that size, it should have been a side item. Charge more, but make it bigger. If you go, just bypass the quiche unless you only want a snack. The staff were all hustling so it looked liked management did a good job hiring good people. We would go back maybe, but no quiche. read more

Cornbread. Do not miss that hot piece of cast-iron baked lusciousness with honey butter! The whiskey bacon burger was tasty and my hubby loved the juicy Southern fried chicken!! Fun ambiance too in a historical building. The done-right food and location are so popular that before concerts they can run out of favorites (we snagged the last cornbread and the country fried steak and French dip were g-o-n-e so get there early if going to the Johnny Mercer theater!). This was a big surprise for us since we came here as part of the trolly tour. We thought we would be handed one tiny little taste but this was legit! You get three tastings and each is set up at a cool little station inside the bar area. They tell you about each taste and you get to pick if you want your taste to be as is, mixed in a cocktail, or virgin. Each taste was so good that we ended up staying here for a while and ordering drinks from the bar. The bartenders are all wonderful and there is a gift store and bottle shop. read more

The people were great - bartender, server, tasting host. The food was fantastic - especially the catfish. My only issue is with the t-shirt sizes. I wear a 3x, and none of the shirt sizes went over 2x. The spirits were great, and I am taking a few bottles home. Other than the shirt sizes, it was a wonderful experience. read more

We did the cocktail class with Ethan and it was wonderful. Ethan was very informative from explaining the history of the tools used by bartenders to the history of sweet tea and GA peaches. He taught us how to make an Old Fashion using the original recipe with only liquids. And we had the opportunity to make a tea time cocktail. read more

My husband and I were on our way down I-95 for a long distance trip, and stopped in Savannah for dinner. After reading lots of great reviews, we decided on this place. It certainly lived up to the hype! The space is so gorgeous, lots of attention to detail. So much love went into it and it shows. Our server, Z, was incredibly attentive. She was a joy to talk with, and made some great recommendations; she was a gem of a server. Our food was fantastic. That blackberry cobbler was something else! We enjoyed shopping at the little gift shop after dinner. Bathrooms were nice and clean. My only small complaint is that, if you are stopping by before five, parking is expensive (we paid $15), as the lot is shared with the old trolley tours. If it is after five, it is free, so something to keep in mind. But overall it was a wonderful experience, and we look forward to being back again in the future! read more

Whoa, can't recommend this enough. While visiting Savannah for work, I stopped in at this restaurant as they advertised "southern-cooking". It did not disappoint. I ordered the Low Country Boil, and Old Fashioned and a Peach Cobbler. The Low Country Boil was perfect, giant shrimp, sausage, corn and some potato in some good spices. Loved it. The Old Fashioned was expertly crafted, and the Peach Cobbler is as good as my Grandma used to make, and that's a compliment. The place it self is incredibly well themed. It's a large space that serves multiple functions, with a gift shop attached on the other side from the main entrance. I ate at the bar and had great service, but found later there is another very cool themed bar on the other side. I love southern food, this place is a hidden gem. read more

I've walked past Old Savannah Distillery Restaurant several times, and it definitely has a different vibe from most Savannah spots--open, airy, and visually appealing. Tonight I wanted something a little different, so I finally gave it a try. Big mistake. I ordered one of their signature cocktails--can't remember the name--and while drinks in Savannah are usually pricey, they're also generous and well‑made. Not here. What I got was an 8‑ounce tumbler packed with ice and maybe two ounces of actual drink. Not exactly the Savannah standard. For dinner, I ordered the fried shrimp with a Caesar salad and mac & cheese. The waiter enthusiastically told me it was a "great choice" because their chefs are "classically trained." All the food arrived at once, which wasn't a big deal, but the quality was. The Caesar salad wasn't dressed--it was drenched. I like a lot of dressing, but this was swimming. The shrimp were rubbery, which is impressive in the worst way because fried shrimp is usually the easiest win in Savannah. The mac and cheese was the best thing on the plate, and even that was just... meh. I couldn't make myself finish the meal. It was that bad. Savannah has fantastic restaurants on every corner. We had 4pm reservations. We arrived 15 minutes early. Before I told the hostess we had reservations she was ready to seat us but because we had reservations we had to wait until 4. The place was empty in the dining area.. Makes no sense. Waiter Tim was great. Very attentive. Presentation of food was nice. I ordered the French dip. Looked great. The meat was hard to bite in to and had a weird taste. Had to ask for a steak knife. Sweet potato fries were good but needed seasoning. Over priced. While we were eating they were holding a staff meeting behind us in the bar area. We probably won't be back. read more

We arrived a few minutes early for our 7:30 reservation on a Thursday night and we were promptly informed that it might be an ADDITIONAL 30 minute wait AFTER our reservation time before we were sat because they had "no clean tables". They asked us to sit at a table by the entrance to wait. We did. From where we sat, I could see at least 5 to 6 tables that were unbussed. The place did not even seem busy. I watched as assorted staff slowly and halfheartedly cleared tables, or in some cases didn't even seem to bother. The only visible manager was working the window expediting food. Five minutes after our assigned time there finally was another manager who came out to help clear a table. Still, there was no sense of urgency, no sense of any desire to have our business. I had really been looking forward to this dinner since learned about the restaurant last September and seen their menu once they opened. TO top it all off, the bar area was unattended so my wife and I could not even get a drink, had we wanted (Hint: WE DID. IT'S A DISTILLERY). We decided we're going to give them ten minutes after our reservation before walking out. At 7:40 I had had enough and we left. I had planned to buy a couple of bottles of their spirits, but that's not happening now. I am so disappointed. Walking around the building to go find another restaurant I could see at least eight empty booths and more than a dozen empty tables, half of them uncleared. Huge disappointment, especially since the reviews prior to my visit were really good. We had a party of 7 on a Friday night, and surprisingly the restaurant wasn't busy at all. However the rest of our meal was a big disappointment. We were first notified that they were out of all of the appetizers except for the cornbread and the pimento cheese. It took 30+ minutes, and repeated requests, for me to receive a glass of wine. Then we ordered our dinner, but later our server returned to our table to let us know that they were out of more menu items that we'd just ordered. They were out of fruit, so the child in my party couldn't get his fruit cup, the soup that another of my guests ordered was also not available. We received our food in a reasonable amount of time, and the quality/taste was just ok. I was really disappointed and would not recommend. read more

I asked how could that be and was told there were a lot of other reservations and they had quite a few walk-ins. It is located at one of the Trolly Stops so plenty of foot traffic. Our trolly driver informed us the restaurant would be opening soon so this doesn't include that review. The inside is amazing. Very nice design. The staff is very helpful. As for the product. Not for me. It's very much flavored whiskey. My biggest complain is sadly the layout of the bottle shop. You can't enter from the bar. You have to exit and reenter. It might be a permit and license thing but I enjoy tasting and walking around the bottle shop at the same time. Food, drink, ambiance, and service is excellent. Last evening 4 of us had the Turkey ham club with fries, cheeseburger with salad, corn bread and drinks. It was so good we went back this evening, did the free tastings that came with the Hop On/off tour, and stayed for dinner. Staff did not change gloves after touching kitchen door then touched our food. When we asked for new fries restaurant manager was really help. Bar manager was rude and nasty.
