Ask anyone in 18 front Adams and they'll tell you. The staff on my first day made fun of my eating disorder. I was doing my intake and the bald man with earrings said "oh I know you don't drink that's too many calories for you!" And I got sick while there and the staff said "she's probably purging!" And started laughing. The lady with the blonde dreads yanked out someone's belly button piercing and it started BLEEDING. The care here is TERRIBLE. Ms.Shamica is the only nice on there, she's such a sweetheart and you can tell she loves her job. And the lady with the blonde dreads, she yelled at a girl who was using her coping skill and told her to sit down while the girl was actively trying not to crash out. There is atleast 2 fights a day there and isn't safe. read more

I had three crises converge and found myself seeking emergency assistance at OVB. Having no experience with mental health facilities, I had no idea what to expect. I am gratefully surprised at the level of care I received and recommend this facility to anyone needing emotional support. I checked myself in with nothing but defeated desperation and the clothes I was wearing. I was met with love and provided all necessities for my five days of inpatient care. During my inpatient stay, there was a lot of needed introspective down time. We had group therapy each afternoon and generous servings of three nutritious meals with snacks and drinks available anytime. Puzzles, cards, lots of coloring and movie time allowed space for connecting with each other or simply ourselves. The attending psychiatrist was great in providing helpful and necessary medication and the employees in the unit met me with compassion at each encounter. After inpatient discharge, I moved on to the outpatient program where I attended group therapy M-F from 9:30-3ish for three weeks. I am deeply enriched from my time in outpatient care and will carry these learned coping skills with me for a lifetime. Ms. Shenae and Ms. Pam are a Godsend. They are gifted in connection and illustration of crucial skills in relation to each of our unique needs. We practiced mindfulness and meditation in a way that everyone can learn and eventually master in their own unique way. My toolbox of coping skills is locked, loaded, and prepared for all of life's ups, downs, twists and turns. I am a better person because of my time at Old Vineyard and deeply thank my doctors, therapists and peers for this experience. read more

So like, don't go here. I went here about 6+months ago, stayed for a week and the staff did not give a single care in the world about you. Yes, there were a couple techs who I felt genuinely cared about us but didn't have the type of resources to care for you, but others did not. Multiple times if you acted out they would threaten you with a shot. Multiple times they did not prevent fights but stopped them (or tried to) after they happened. I remember one person who would come in and do group and she was genuinely the only person who had authority that helped and knew how to handle things. One kid was crying because she had to get a shot and the nurses mocked her, she was only 14. The doctor I saw was also very horrible and did not help, the therapist was nice but the doctor sounded like Mr. Big from zootopia and I could not understand her 99% of the time due to my auditory issues that come with adhd. My sister, a severe alcoholic for over 20 years, was involuntarily committed after making suicidal threats and registering a blood alcohol level of .348--more than five times the legal limit. This was not borderline, not ambiguous--this was a life-threatening emergency involving psychiatric instability and chronic addiction. Despite a long, well-documented history of chronic alcoholism and emotional abuse of our elderly mother (her primary caretaker and housemate), cognitive degradation, and severe addiction-related decline, Old Vineyard discharged her after just three days. THREE DAYS. Not to a structured program. Not with a safety plan. Just discharged, with some anxiety medicine, and with no contact with family, no comprehensive evaluation, and no regard for those most affected by her return. My mother is now suffering from acute anxiety at the prospect of dealing with my sister again, alone. This unconscionable decision was made by Dr. Halimena Creque, who, despite multiple calls and urgent messages from our family, made zero effort to speak with us or understand the full scope of my sister's condition and behavior. She ignored the context, the risk, and the truth. This is not only medical negligence, but it is also gross professional misconduct. Discharging a suicidal alcoholic, mid-crisis, back into an unchecked environment without addressing the clinical, psychological, or familial dynamics is more than poor judgment, it is dangerous, and potentially deadly. Old Vineyard's website claims to offer rehabilitation, long-term care, and support for co-occurring disorders. That is a cruel fiction. Everything about this process reeks of bed-clearing quotas and bottom-line decision-making, not care or ethics. There was no holistic treatment plan, no transparency, no accountability, and certainly no compassion. Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Services failed my sister. They failed my family. And they failed every ethical and medical obligation a psychiatric facility should uphold. If you're considering this place for someone in crisis, reconsider immediately. What happened here is not just appalling, it's actionable. And let me be unequivocally clear: if anything happens to my mother or anyone else as a result of this reckless discharge, I will hold both Old Vineyard and Dr. Creque personally accountable, in court and beyond. I fully agree with the review by "T.S." My elderly aunt was admitted involuntarily because she was depressed, caused by reaction to 2 meds prescribed for her chronic pain. She came home after only one week and was completely traumatized by her stay at OV. She cited abuse by staff and overt racism by others. One staffer called her a "Caucasian MF'er". One staff member kept entering her room at night, and would shine a bright flashlight into her eyes every 15 minutes! Talk about sleep deprivation! She complained and staff member said she "was required to do it to make sure she was still there". Every 15 minutes.. Aunt said she was going to report her and she (staff) pointed at her name tag and said go ahead, I don't give a F. It gets better. A male staffer would also come into her room unannounced, and even look at her when she was taking a shower! She ended up sleeping in the living room area because an unknown man would come into her room at night and frighten her. There were only 4 females there and men constantly roamed the halls and my aunt and other women felt very unsafe. I'm so glad we got her out of there after a brief stay. However, being elderly, this has affected her greatly, she hardly speaks any more and now is afraid of black people after their hateful racist treatment and also now is afraid to live alone. I have a friend who's son was there about 2 years ago and when I told him my aunt was going there, his faced dropped. He said he saw things there that he would not repeat. He even saw a man taking a crap in the hall. He said it was horrible. I think it is very sad that people who need help and go to a facility like OV get abused. WORST ABUSERS OF AN ALREADY BAD SYSTEM OF CARE! As an advocate for mental wellness, a supporter of friends and family with mental health challenges, trained in a specific area of mental healthcare & as a consumer of a broad spectrum of mental health services across many states and decades, I cannot stress enough to those with mental health struggles AND their friends, family and communities: seek help BEFORE an emergency hospitalization is required! If there is a diagnosis (or suspected issue with mental health exists) HAVE A PLAN. Know what the best resources are BEFORE a crisis strikes! ALL EMERGENCY "FLIGHT DECKS" are nothing more than heinous babysitters: heavy sedation is the hallmark of care. Drug the "babies" so little effort is required by staff, then turn them back into the same situations they left; with no effective treatment received nor new resources to improve wellness. In terms of non-pharmaceutictical, evidence-based treatments (such as "talk therapy") I have never witnessed nor heard of individual therapy offered and the sparse group therapy (typically less than 20% of a patient's weekday & often nothing on weekends & holidays) is laughable. THIS FACILITY IS NO DIFFERENT. That said, OLD VINEYARD IS BY FAR THE WORST ABUSERS OF AN ALREADY BAD SYSTEM OF MENTAL HEALTH CARE. *Insurance abuse: keeping clients based on ability to pay...and KEEP PAYING...if they are well-insured or have deep pockets. (And neglecting the needs of the uninsured or under-insured). *Taking advantage of those without the knowledge, ability to advocate for themselves, or those without personal advocates: this is done in two ways; (a) leading those with subpar or no housing to believe they will be transferred to supportive housing, when they're just being dumped where they started (b) not informing clients or their families that within 10 days of hospitalization in the state of NC, clients have the right to seek a hearing if they wish to be released...if they are strong payers. * Grossly understaffed by psychiatrists: Psychiatrists are the medication prescribers in this facility. For example, in one case, a single psychiatrist saw every patient in a unit (if not more than one) daily for close to 2 weeks (if not longer) with no time off. Patients were diagnosed and prescribed medications with no prior treatment history and without client charts being present ...even while working on the charts of multiple other clients. THIS IS A RECIPE FOR DISASTER IN ANY FIELD OF MEDICINE. I could continue, but this should be enough information for yout o RUN! from this dangerous facility! Due Diligence Required Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Services On Wednesday, November 12, 2025 our granddaughter (we have power of attorney) was admitted to Old Vineyard Behavioral Health (Old Vineyard) facility in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. As of Friday, November 14, no one from Old Vineyard contacted us regarding our granddaughter's diagnosis and plan of care. Yet, our thirteen year old granddaughter repeatedly call us seeking authorization to take the medication Atarax. We thought this was unusual and odd because a medical professional had not consulted with us since her arrival at Old Vineyard. Why is Old Vineyard discussing a drug treatment plan with minors. Prior to her admission date, we learned that visitation was limited to Sunday's between the hours of 2:00-3:00pm. We traveled two and a half hours to visit our granddaughter. Upon arrival, we were informed that only one visitor due to over crowding of visitors. Since Old Vineyard knowing that their inpatient capacity is eighteen girls, accommodations should be made to accommodate the two guests per patient (allegedly their policy). A special thanks to Mr. Chris (on duty Supervisor) that allowed my husband and I to jointly visit our granddaughter. On Monday, November 17, I received a telephone call from Langston, a clinician at Old Vineyard seeking authorization for a prescribed medication for our granddaughter. I inquired about her diagnosis and treatment plan. He stated that he could not provide me with that information because he didn't have her file with him. In a condescending tone, he attempted to get me to authorize the medication. Shockingly, this was my first interaction with a Old Vineyard medical professional and Langston called me in the presence of a fragile thirteen year old and in my opinion attempting to intimidate me into authorizing them to administer Atarax to our granddaughter. We received another call from Lisa M. Waye, the nurse practitioner. She explained her concerns about our granddaughter and she emphasized that she would like to write a prescription for 5mg of lexapro. Authorization was granted for lexapro, only! On November 21, granddaughter is discharged from Old Vineyard and we discovered that in addition to lexapro she has been taking Atarax without any authorization from her grandparents. If you are considering using this facility, please note the following: the telephones are rarely answered, you may get lucky with the main line other wise all calls go to google voice and no return calls. In my opinion, this facility appears to be aggressively pushing the use of controlled drugs. Since Atarax was administered without authorization, I am filing a complaint with the state of North Carolina and with the Office of Inspector General for the Department of Health and Human Services. read more

My granddaughter received excellent care at Old Vineyard for one week in February 2025. She says that it was a positive experience and helped her a lot. Both her mother and I visited her there and found the staff to be very helpful and caring. The Adams building was very clean. We are all very grateful for the counseling and care she received. I was very worried about her placement there after reading the very negative reviews, but our experience was completely positive. read more

They need to improve everything. My daughter was there for 8 days and it was the most unprofessional place I've ever seen. They didn't show any kind of care for the adolescents in the unit. They didn't contact me the parent for any kind updates on my child. They also increased medicine without my consent. I did not get to speak to any doctors or psychiatrist only a damn nurse. I am in contact with professionals to help me report the racism towards my child and the fact she came home with hickeys and head lice. This place needs to be closed. I had so many awful experiences. I received no treatment for the reason I was forced to be there. Most of the staff was lazy and rude. I had a package mailed there that was confirmed by Fed Ex. They still don't have it almost a year later. I asked to speak to the patient advocate while there but she was unavailable. If I could give 0 stars I would. If they took the time to find my package and actually acted like they care I might have come away in different perspective. Ownership has claimed to reach out but no attempt has been made. Fortunately they let me go after only a few days as it was evident I didn't belong there. I was told most people are the 10 days. My daughter left earlier this month. While she said it was boring a lot of the time, because the tvs did not work, and no phones or laptops were allowed, she has made a 180. They taught her coping skills, got her on the right meds, and improved her outlook. I have no doubt she'd be in a horrible mental place without being committed to the facility. read more

I have never been treated like less of a human. This is a facility for patients to stay short term and be prescribed medication. There is no therapy here. They only provide psychiatric services and group therapy, which isn't run by therapists but by psych techs. My PTSD was triggered massively on admission while waiting in rooms for my assessment. I never received comfort. You have to fight to be told anything. I was told I would be held for a minimum of 48 hours but I wasn't told why until hours later when I was finally told that it was state law. I was told I was lucky to meet with the psychiatrist on my second day as some people have to wait to meet her until their third day. I was offered a bed here to be transferred from the hospital because the hospital was full. I have an eating disorder and none of the staff was able to help me with it at all. I was expected to be there for three days without any help with my eating disorder, which I've been in treatment for for the past four months. Dr. Buttar, the psychiatrist, was incredibly unprofessional. She told me that I had to stay for 48 hours because it was hospital policy, not because it was the law. When this sent me into a panic attack, she offered me medication and treated me like I was hysterical, which I refused so she sent me on my way while I was barely able to breathe. read more

Do not send rite loved ones here. They will be drugged and get zero help. My husband went voluntarily and they drugged him, eventually making it so he couldn't get out of bed literally to eat or drink. He became unresponsive so they had to call the ambulance. At the hospital even they saw how bad he was because of this facility. He hasn't showered in four days and took away my husbands basic humanity. While all he needed all long was just a basic anxiety med handled in outpatient. Now he has ptsd from this place. Please avoid at all costs. read more

I just spent a week at OVBHS. It was a horrible experience. I'm not particularly proud of the fact that I've had to reach out for help five or six times. In those instances, as well as in my 35+ years of work in either human services or direct customer service, I have NEVER witnessed this kind of disrespect shown to patients/customers in my life... I repeat... NEVER. Don't get me wrong. I was treated well... partially because of a high level of functioning, and the fact that I never questioned anything or anyone. Other patients were not as fortunate. I don't know if previous military experience experience affected their behavior, but patients were treated disrespectfully at best, in some cases, cruelly. Not physically, but verbally and emotionally. I witnessed them make patients cry, literally. They ripped someone for not requesting a drink at mealtime in the appropriate time frame. Same treatment when they repeatedly asked the same question. I watched them, when becoming frustrated with an argument that was on the verge of escalating to a physical altercation, throw up their hands and say, "OK, have at it" (paraphrase). There were patients there suffering from PTSD, myself included. I had "clenched fists", stomach in knots the entire time. It was an awful week. The staff members seemed to relish in exercising control, usually in a very loud, often angry way. While these mistreatments occur with weekday regular staff members (techs), there were a few exceptions. Tim McFadden works on the second shift and was helpful, respectful, but still firm and in control at all times. Rikisha C. was brought over from another unit on my last day. She was kind yet thorough and the atmosphere on the unit was completely different. Bottom line: Unless your friend of family member is on the verge of suicide OR being on the street, DO NOT SEND THEM TO OVBHS. read more

This place needs to be closed down! Communication with family is horrible, my father in law went in for depression, they never picked up how confused he was. They never had him shower or wash for the week he was there. They told us, they would go over his discharge plan when we picked him up, he was sitting in a wheel chair with his bags packed. They also said someone would call with follow up care, he already had appointments made that he didn't know about and changes to his medications. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE OR SEND ANYONE HERE. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. The absolute worst mental health facility I've ever been to. I left in a worst mental health state than I came in with. It was the first facility that I've ever been to and it almost prevented me from ever seeking help again. Extremely traumatic, pretty much all of the staff do not care about you in the least. The only staff member that was supportive and helped us got into major trouble for allowing us to hug each other. The psychiatrists I saw should not even be practicing. They do not show the slightest bit of compassion or understanding. They are just trying to get through patients as quickly as they can while doing minimal work. Everyone spent ~2-5 minutes on average with their psychiatrist. The entire place felt like we were being punished and it was pretty clear that staff was just there for money--not to actually help people. One staff member in particular OPENLY humiliated, intimidated, and yelled at patients for simple mistakes or non-disruptive nervous habits. He also intimidated other patients into staying silent and compliant. Anything beside complete 100% compliance to all orders from staff members resulted in some sort of demeaning or humiliating treatment. The staff members created a completely emotionally unsafe environment that felt prison-like. It was suffocating and made every patient in the unit feel entirely powerless and helpless. From the start, patients wanted to get out as soon as possible due to the horrible facility. During my time there, one could focus on their treatment because of how bad the environment was and how unsafe and powerless we felt. I was told if I go in voluntarily, I could leave anytime I wanted, which was completely untrue and made me feel completely trapped in the h***hole. During my assessment, prior to deciding to enroll as a voluntary patient, the clinician told me "so you can choose to go in as a voluntary patient or just go back home to wanting to kill yourself." Going in as a voluntary patient was then thrown in my face when I was extremely depressed and angry at the state of the environment. Every single person I know that knows of this place--whether it be former patients, counselors, psychiatrists--agree that it's a horrible place. This place needs to be closed down. read more

This place is horrible. None of my issues, drug problems, major depression, anxiety, thoughts of suicide were even addressed. If you have a pre-existing condition and need meds, good luck on getting them! Myself and another inmate had seizures because we weren't given our meds. The other inmate that had a seizure hurt himself very badly and they wouldn't take him to a real hospital, but they took someone that had a mildly hurt arm. They didn't know what to do when we had these seizures. Others didn't get meds for mild pre-existing conditions either. They go by their schedule and let you sleep instead of going to groups. I stayed her last summer for about a week due to a severe mental health crisis. Worst experience of my life. After my release, I told my mother I would rather die than have to go back to a place like that. My father, who has also been here, did in fact die instead of going back. I was sent here involuntarily after a stay in an ER. I did not choose this place. The nurses were the most disrespectful and mean people I had ever met. I kind of understand the rules about jewelry, however, I was held down and my jewelry was ripped out of my ears as I had fake nails and could not remove it myself and my nurses could not figure it out either. As a result, they thought that ripping it forcefully from my ear and causing a large hole with lots of bleeding and pain would be a good idea. They also destroyed and threw away the jewelry instead of saving it like they were supposed to. We called to complain after my release, and they told us there was no proof that I had come in with that jewelry and that we could prove I was ever treated in that way. I had a panic attack while they removed the jewelry, and they were the most condescending, belittling people I had ever met. I have never in my life been talked down to in the way that I was that day. I find it interesting that they did this in a locked bathroom with no cameras to prove anything as well. And it was the nurse and the other woman's word against mine. So, I cannot prove any of this ever happened. Aside from the closed-up hole in my ear, of course. The staff was literally abusive. The staff made fun of me and bullied me. There was one nice nurse and one nice man. Most people, however, are in it for a paycheck. This was the worst experience of my life, and I would never recommend sending a loved one here. I was not given a single therapy session despite being told that it would be daily. We never followed the daily schedule given as most activities were cancelled. One poor girl was treated even worse than me. The nurses deemed her as a problem and treated her as such. One staff member, however, took a liking to me. She told me that as I was in college and well educated that I was "unlike the other patients". In that I was better. I do not think people in healthcare should be looking down on their patients and choosing who they think they should succeed. I was so stressed I could not remember a single phone number, so, I would ask the staff if they could look into my file and find one for me. I asked repeatedly for several days before anyone was kind enough to help me. Anyone who has been in a place like this understands how isolating it can be. It is even worse without the support of those that are on the outside. I was worried sick as I could not contact my mother. I think this place needs to be shut down. this place is absolue ASS. i was there for self harm. i was involantary and let me tell you, that place is NOT it. i was in adams 18 and every day there was a code white. the techs no dothing but sit around and talk to the kids like they're best friends. they're lazy, rude, and dumb. i got in trouble for eating a poptart too loud. on my LAST DAY THERE. there are 17 year olds in there that have been picking on the 12 year olds. ive seen it, im 14 (i was 13 in july, 14 in august) and the 17 year old bitch tori with blonde hair wanted to fight me for no reason. the care is absolute buns. they dont care about you at all. there was a girl who was throwing up with extreme diarrhea and they took 2 days to take her to the hospital. TWO DAYS. sometimes they dont even let you make your phonecall home and in order to leave you have to do personal worksheets. the worksheets barely help and the only good thing there was talking to the other kids. speaking of the others, they arent nice at all. yes we ina behavioral center but there is no excuse to have the front beefing with the back, people dating breaking up and fighting, people bein "gay for the stay".. its insane. they barely help you at all and if you have an episode (like i did) they just send you to your room. the soap, mouthwash, and lotion they give you doesnt work at all so you have to walk around musty in scrubs. if you change clothes and shower gaurantee that deodorant is givng you 3 minutes of clarity. they didnt allow me to have my hair care products, so my hair stunk. they dont really care about your gender identity and mrs china, SPECIFICALLY mrs china, didnt understand and kept saying how it was kindof weird. you cant express yourself in there period cause another person, or even a TECH would shoot you down. and mrs china has specifically pointed out to me with the term "molestation" in her own book. and said she wasnt cherrypicking. dr uma disrespects everyone who comes into her office, doesnt help period, and just gives you extra days for some bullshit. read more

As a tech at OVBHS, please don't send your loved ones to this facility. This place is severely understaffed and only one tech is placed on a unit of 20 or so people when there are supposed to be two techs. You or your family member will not be appropriately cared for under these conditions. This is not safe for patients or staff and upper management is aware of this. The units are supposed to be separated by diagnosis...they are not. You or your family member will be placed wherever there is space. If they have an overflow of patients (which they usually do because instead of denying a patient due to a lack of space, they will accept you or your loved one anyway because they literally only want your money) , you will sleep on a bare mattress w one blanket on the dirty floor that is barely ever cleaned in the cold common room or an office until someone on the unit discharges. You or your family member may be physically assaulted while you are here (by staff or other patients). The staff has a very minimal amount of control over the adolescent patients. There is a lot of drama and fighting on these adolescent units; this is not considered a therapeutic milieu for a patient seeking treatment. The people at this facility do not care about you or your family. It is alll about the money here, seriously. Seeing the other side, I wouldn't dare place my family member in this facility. I would drive 100,000 miles if that meant not placing them here. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this facility. read more

My comments are about a recent stay of a relative for whom I am the SS payee. First, I called multiple times with requests to speak with her attending physician, and with her patient advocate. NO calls were returned over the course of her stay. Second, she was apparently discharged without written discharge instructions. Those were provided by telephone call to me...and sure enough, my call back to request clarification was ignored. Third, she had a problem during a weekend nite...one that was being ignored. I was successful in a call to the floor supervisor, successful in conveying the need and urgency, succesful in getting the super to agree to a specific action. He must have forgotten the call the minute he hung up, for he failed to act. Weekends in an understaffed facility and demoralized staff are to be avoided. On the other hand.I did have a good "background" chat with her assigned (weekday) nurse, and she apparently took extra steps to delay some planned medical testing that had been previously scheduled. As there are no medical capabilities in the facililty, people who need both psychiatric care and medical care need to seek help eleswhere...OV simply does not allow it. read more

I stayed at Old Vineyard for a week and at no point did I receive any care from the staff. Almost all of them seem to enjoy being in charge of adults and get a kick out of provoking, belittling, and controlling them. I was given meds I am allergic to, without being told what I was being given and despite my allergies being printed on the front of my file. I was prescribed a heavy anti depressant by Lisa (who very clearly has no training or natural ability for providing care) because I was crying on my second day. I was also prescribed another antidepressant and an anti anxiety medication that reacted very badly together and gave me serotonin syndrome. It took about 24 hours for them to finally check in my clothes so I had to be in paper scrubs even though it was cold. When Chandra finally checked in my things, she did it as fast as she could and gave me the bare minimum, neglecting to give me my contact solution and pads and tampons so I had to ask a male staff member for tampons and didn't receive my contact solution (even after asking for it for days) until the day before I left. The whole time I was there we went outside twice and 16 of us were enclosed in what's essentially a pen. The only daily exercise you get is if you choose to take the stairs for meals or jog down the hall. The food was awful and there were people with allergies that weren't always able to get meals. Male staff would open doors to rooms without knocking while we were dressing. One morning after 5am, the tech doing the regular 15 minute checks came in and shone a flashlight in my and my roommates eyes because we kept our hygiene bins in our room that day and she had to take them back behind the desk even though I took morning showers at 6. The staff is overall lazy, unkind, and non compassionate. With the exception of MHT Dequoine and Rec Therapist Melanie, both of whom made us all comfortable and feel safe. The only help I got there was from the kindness and understanding of the incredible people I was locked up with. read more

Personally, from my experience as an MHT, I felt targeted by some staff members who could sense that I was ambitious, hard working, quiet (no drama), and diligent. They saw me as a threat because I was raising the bar too much and asking important questions and showing genuine concern for patients. They don't want hard working MHTs and nurses because they want to keep the bar low so they don't have to do too much work and can just F-around on the job. The place is toxic. Not everyone was. Some co-workers were genuinely good people. But they were few and far between. Too many were just plain bitter, passive aggressive, and petty. read more

Honestly its not that bad I was on the adolescent side it definitely didn't have individual care unless you were having like a meltdown but if I'm being honest the only person who wasn't good at their job is ms.Fran she got mad at us "for Laughing too loud" and other things and just wouldn't handle people who were having like a flashback correctly she would look at them like they were crazy and also if you didn't like it there I completely understand that you might have very bad anxiety and not like new things or it could be for other things I'm just saying from my personal experiences I didn't hate it there and Also it looks nothing like the pictures read more

Condescending. Rude. Borderline verbally abusive staff. Put me in the same room as someone in there because of violence when I was in there for depression. Came out worse than I went in. In a way helped because I got better because I never wanted to end up in there again. Pictures aren't accurate to adolescent only went outside once and very small area doctors are unforgiving. This place is a joke. In fact, all mental health facilities like this are a joke as well. The employees treated us patients horribly, they do not take into consideration our mental health status and are absolutely disrespectful. One employee called another patient "annoying" while continuing to yell at me. They DO NOT have personal therapy sessions but rather half-assed group sessions that do not provide any actual support whatsoever. Another patient, who suffered from schizophrenia, or some form of disorder, had PUNCHED two people and a nurse and was STILL allowed to hang around other patients even AFTER clearly revealing herself as a danger to others. She was hardly watched or looked over, so much so that she was able to push, hit, and spank another patient. After calling my mom and letting her know about couldthis awful situation, she tried calling the building multiple times, but the employees would sit and even walk AWAY, letting the phone go to voicemail. I know this because everyone was able to hear the multiple voicemails that my mom left because they were played out loud while being ignored. When entering this place, they give you a sheet of your rights as a patient and I have to say that an overwhelming majority of them were completely violated. read more

I was sent here after a suicide attempt through overdose. I was put in the Thruman section, which was mostly for drug addicts and alcoholics. All the "therapy groups" were about addiction. Needless to say, that didn't help me at all. The worst thing is when I got there, they doctor didn't change my meds!!! Can you believe it? A girl who is on an ANTIDEPRESSANT attempts suicide means the current drug IS NOT WORKING. And they didn't bother to change it. They basically locked up for 10 days, made me pay $1800 (with insurance) and I left even more depressed than before. Please avoid at all costs. read more

I went to my local hospital Behavioral Health facility for treatment for a severe bipolar crisis. That is where my insurance is with. I was completely voluntary. Awhile later I am told they have no beds available at their facility and I am being transferred to Old Vineyard. I declined, as OVBH is not part of my tier level 1 insurance. I was declared involuntary, and next thing I know, a cop has me handcuffed taking me to Old Vineyard. No one cared about my insurance problem. That and the cop made my bipolar episode worsen. The staff was rude, condescending, belittling, and at times just plain mean. I was not placed in a room for 12 hours, and didn't receive any of my medications until 2 days later. And this was supposed to help me receive treatment quicker than waiting for a discharge/ bed at my preferred facility. I still don't know how will pay for a 7 day stay, Doctor costs, lab costs, medicine costs Etc. Very unprofessional all the way around. read more

This place is a facility who's sole purpose is to help people, and while some of the staff were great at their jobs we only had two groups a day, the rest of the time being left to sit and doing nothing but watch TV and talk. And they were constantly understaffed. Food is terrible but I've never been to a place where I can say the food is good so that's pretty normal. But the Therapist on staff while seeming "emotionally intelligent" and competent has no personality and comes off as cold and uncaring...because she is. While I was there I was singled out in group and made to feel worse about my depression and the fact I wasn't getting better despite my numerous times seeking help. She reinforced my own bad thoughts about myself and pushed me back towards wanting to kill myself, bravo, you suck at your job. She constantly spoke to me in a condescending manner and every single interaction I had with her was unpleasant. I really am not sure what I did to piss her off. She also screwed up my follow up therapy appointment causing me to waste my entire morning and then my entire afternoon when I went back at the correct time...so not so competent if you can't handle writing down the correct time. She also screwed over multiple other patients who were there, again always appearing like she was there to help while running a group but had zero follow through on any of the help she offered. Well I'm glad I'm no longer in that place I hope they rectify the situation so the people who follow can get the help they need. read more

I went here about a two years ago now and ive noticed that my review has been takin down since then. I stayed at Old Vineyard for about 10 days and it was an experience i wont forget. Staff disrespected every single kid in there, I was lied to multiple times. My family was also lied to multiple times, I was involuntary so I had to wait til they released me. At one point in my stay here my parents discussed what they should do because this place was a dangerous enviornment, no one cared about the childrens actual health or keeping them safe. The only thing they seemed to care about was the paycheck. I was ignored on multiple occasions crying for my medication, and that particular staff member shut the door in my face and I sat there crying asking her to please give me my meds. Then when I got picked up she started telling my mom about how sweet I was and how ive made so much progress and how she talked to me everyday. But no it was nothing like that i felt worse when i got out they neglected my emotional wellness and acted like they had made a connection with me. When in reality I was alone, overwhelmed and dissapointed. read more

I was there a couple weeks ago and there was a girl there with lots of brain problems and needed diapers and they would change her every 3 days and she would smell like pee and poop and the did not shower her for days at a time and the staff where very verbalize abusive and would not pay attention to us and some staff laughed at me when I had a Panic attack read more

I went to old vineyard when I was suicidal,hearing voices, and high anxiety. John, Cheyenne, virigina, ej,nurse heather, and shana were AMAZING so was the dr. The groups were helpful whenever I was upset one of the workers were always there to talk to me. They printed me out a lot of word searches even printed some to take back to my group home. I would recommend this hospital to anyone who is going through a crisis. read more

This facility claims to offer specialized care for patients with various mental illnesses. The TRUTH is that patients all get the same care regardless of what led to their hospitalization. They purport to offer trauma informed care for patients with PTSD. There is no such program offered. Adolescents get workbooks with topics like "coping skills," or "anger management," which they work on independently, and a therapist initials when they're completed. This "therapy" could be done at home rather than paying for expensive inpatient hospitalization. There is no individualized care, even though generic treatment plans must be written for each patient. This "hospital" is not accredited by any agency, and taxpayers pay the majority of the cost for people admitted there. It provides a windfall, however, for Universal Health Service, which owns the facility. There are better options available for patients who are suffering from emotional illnesses. Read the reviews before deciding how you want to spend your money. The only people who benefit there are the Cs -- CEOs, CFOs, CNOs. read more
