This tour was really fun to go thru. I couldn't believe some of what I was seeing like items from a hundred years ago. Things have changed drastically since then. I loved the old time irons and kitchen utensils. The tour guide was very knowledgeable of that time period and even got into character. There were thousands of items to look at. He did a thorough job of explaining. The tickets are $14. 99 per person. The hours are daily from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. This tour was well worth visiting! read more

Amazing tour of large General Store with many items that may have been sold around the beginning of the last century. Our tur guide Molly was great in acting as a worker in the store trying to sell us various products and showing us all of the items` features with live demonstrations of several of them. Much more fun & enjoyable than you might think. And the Old Jail is next door so you can do both without a significant walk to enjoy both. Would do again. read more

We spent a week on tours and museums in Saint Augustine, but the most fun we had was in the Oldest Store Museum with Orville, the shop keeper. We had eight people in our group. What struck us the most was how Orville centered the tour around a young girl who had Downes Syndrome. He had her helping with the gadgets. He continually called her by name and had her helping to rock a baby to sleep in a cradle that made butter. My husband and I, as well as others in our group smiled at each other seeing how Orville brought the tour down to this little girl's level, while making it fun and educational for everyone. We had many tour guides this week, but Orville was unique. read more

I love nostalgia and this museum is full of it! The Mr and I, along with another couple found the Oldest Store Museum to be full of interesting items from yester-year. Through no fault of their own, the tour guide's presentations were a little cheesy for me (I'm a tour purest), but I understand their delivery appeals to families and most people. Having seen dozens of role-playing actors at amusement parks and historical sites, seldom have I felt the actor was truly ensconced in their role. But Orville, the shop keeper was so invested in his part that we really believed that he worked at the store in the early 1900's. The store museum itself was a fascinating collection turn-of-the-century items, some functional, some kinda crazy, but most in working order, as demonstrated by Orville. While $10 seem steep for basically a one hour tour, the store through in a couple of small freebies so the fee wasn't so painful. If you couple this museum with the jail and the trolley, the fee would likely be defrayed a bit. Regardless, the store tour alone is worthwhile if you're time-limited. read more

If you are a history buff and have a fascination as to how life was back over a hundred years ago, this place is not to be missed! This is more or less an interactive living museum, where the workers are dressed in period clothing and do not break character as they try and "sell" their wares. You will literally feel as though you have taken a step over a hundred years back in time. The store has the appearance of being back from that era and the products on the shelf are in packages dated to that time as well, some I believe being the actual packaging. You also get a chance to learn about the origins of some modern day inventions, such as the bicycle and how milkshakes as well as coffee were processed back then. Our host was very lively and enthusiastic as she discussed the products, and I felt really added to the overall experience. read more

If you are vacationing in St. Augustine and doing the trolley tour, take the time out of you schedule and do this site. We absolutely enjoyed the tour of this museum. The tour guides are excellent and able to connect with all ages. My grandson and parents enjoyed the tour. Both guides were excellent and helped us understand the importance of the general store circa 1908. They demonstrated some of the machinery of the time and the different products which were sold. Definitely a different era but one could see how the general store was where everything happened back then. The tour last about one hour or just a shade over but it is long enough for you to get a better appreciation for the time period. Lastly, if nothing else the tour will get you out of the sun and in some AC for a while. A must see while at St. Augustine. Two thumbs up!! read more

I could spend hours in this place! Then again, I'm a silly history buff who loves authentic artifacts and the awesome way they tour you through here. Our tour guide "Leo" (maybe because he was Leonardo DiCaprio's dopple-ganger?), did an amazing job convincing us he was a real store clerk in 1908! He took us through the whole "store" that consists of 4 or 5 rooms full of everything you could imagine; corn shuckers, shoes, appliances, bicycles, washing machines, a recreated butcher shop, a bread delivery wagon, I could go on forever. We learned so much about how people came up with all sorts of innovations in that era. Absolutely amazing! This is well worth the visit! read more

During our trip to St. Augustine last week, my wife and I visited the Oldest Store Museum (Monday March 29). Molly was our guide and she was awesome! The items "for sale" were fascinating as I pictured myself in the appropriate time period. It did get a little crowded between getting too close to other "customers" and being careful not to break anything. However, if you're not as concerned about getting COVID (as more people are getting vaccinated and/or the whole herd immunity thing), you'll enjoy your time here. read more

The tour guides (3 of them) were nice and knowledgeable and I give them four stars for those factors. I was more fascinated by the antiques and apothecary jars. I liked that the tour guides wore costumes and got into their acting parts. Sometimes they sounded corny with a funny voice but they got into their parts. I liked that they gave you a piece of candy in the store. Would I go on this tour again. Not really. I am just super picky. read more

Hokey hokey! I don't think this is the original building of the oldest store in the country, but rather a re-creation of what a 100 year old general store would look like. Well that name wouldn't quite roll off the tongue as easily I suppose. A bit expensive given how small the building is. Gives you an idea of the experience of shopping back in the day, but the name gives a false impression. It's turn of the century style and not a reflection of the "oldest store" in the real sense of the word. You can take some nice pictures outside and that might be enough. read more
