Old West Cafe used to be my favorite breakfast spot, it has now become too popular to the point it's lost it's Old West flavor and become just like all the other breakfast/lunch spots everywhere you turn. Breakfast has become way too pricey and just seems to have shrunk in size. I don't mind if the portions have gotten smaller, just make the price smaller as well. Just my opinion on the matter. I'll go to Old West Cafe maybe once every 6 months now just because, but mainly i just eat at home for breakfast or just do brunch elsewhere. With that said, the staff is still great providing professional service and the food is still good, just lost the Old West flavor that added to its ambiance for me. read more

As I'm roadtripping back to Oklahoma, I am in desperate need of a good meal. Last nights dinner was beyond disappointing and my soul hungered. My passenger mate was researching and was blessed to stumble upon this restaurant, Oldwest Cafe. We drive up, and I am feeling iffy because the outside is boujee. The people were drawn here, and it was busy. We had faith and placed our names upon the list and waited 25 minutes to be seated. What I didn't know, was that 30 minutes later I would be sipping the best black coffee. The restaurant decor is homey, well decorated for the holidays with twinkle lights and a christmas tree. Even though the restaurant was poppin, I felt relaxed and at ease. My waitress was warm and cheerful - just what I needed after driving through the hell of Texas traffic. My passenger mate and I both ordered the Cowboy. She, 2 scrambled eggs, bacon, loaded grits, avocado and fresh squeezed OJ. I, 2 scrambled eggs, smoked sausage, biscuits & gravy, & hash browns. The food was incredible. This is the best breakfast place I have ever been to in my life. It felt like it came from my grandmas kitchen. If my grandma knew how to cook. The food is so yummy! It's busy and pretty loud, but the food is good. We have had good service every time we have gone.

So, I made a little mistake. I thought they served "lunch". And indeed there are some pretty decent items for lunch. Chicken Fried steak could have been run through the tenderizer one more time...but my real issue was when I asked for a dinner salad. NOPE..no salads in this place. You see...we expanded and decided we did not have room in the kitchen to make a salad. We are "really" a breakfast place. And I'm quite sure that they are. A breakfast place. The pancakes I saw were huge. But no salad? At all? Ok, my son loves corn..sorry, no corn. I do want to say.."fried green beans...the bomb!" What else can you say about Old West? it's everything you want in a breakfast place. A great variety of awesome food with an always on top of it staff. We have been eating at Old West for the last 14 years, mainly at the old Sanger location until it's closure. Now the Denton location is our breakfast go-to! Out of all those years we have never had 1 issue what so ever with the food or service, remarkable for as busy as they are from open-close. Well I did have 1 issue..when they took The Gambler omelet off the menu I'm happy so say it is back now and if ya don't know, get it! My go to items are The Vaquero Skillet, The Gambler omelet and the Stagecoach (Warning----do not order that unless you don't plan to eat for the rest of the day ) the wife loves the blueberry/lemon pancakes. Went to this breakfast place after recommendation from Yelp and found it to be all true! The ambiance was very cute with western inspired decor. Loved it and like what they did with everything there! The coffee was hot and always kept coming from the severs that are there. Our server was very attentive and our order was correct! My wife and I had the wrangler which was awesome! I have been to the Bedford location one a few times, and it was equally as good. It is very clean and very Texas atmosphere. All the waitresses and waiters wear plaid shirts with jeans. Their service is amazing ! My boyfriend and I came for brunch on a Thursday afternoon. I got the Migas and he got the chicken fried steak They were both very good and good portion. I love their salsa. Migas does not come with choice of side. It does come with a small bowl of refried beans so if you don't like that maybe you can ask to sub it. They do have free coffee refills I asked for a cup of coffee refill to-go and waitress brought me fresh hot coffee to take I definitely recommend Old West cafe which ever location you are at! read more

I love this restaurant. The food is always delicious and delivered hot. The menu has great breakfast and brunch selections for all appetites and tastes. HINT: If you go on Saturday or Sunday go early or late or be prepared for as much as a 45 minute wait. This place is packed in the weekend. This is truly a hometown favorite breakfast spot in this college town. We attended an early morning graduation and overheard several families talking about breakfast here. So, we too headed this way! After a 30 minute wait in the car we were seated quickly and waited on promptly. Our food came out very quickly which always make me a little suspicious in a busy restaurant. It was good. Felt a little rushed but not terrible. The sausage and gravy biscuit was excellent. The plastic skillet was a bit odd, made to look like cast iron but does not hold heat. I order a pretty traditional "two eggs, over medium, etc." My perfectly cooked breakfast came on an ice-cold plate and my eggs were cold. Good on the cooks. It don't make no sense how good this food is. There is always a wait but I never complain. 30 minutes is enough time to respond to some emails or catch up on a show. The servers are always a good vibe and patience because the menu is so big it's hard to choose one thing. The portion sizes are Texas BIG so come very hungry I promise you will not be disappointed. The first time I went to Od West apparently I didn't enjoy that much. My second visit was much more favorable. Went at about 9am on a Wednesday. I'd say it was half capacity so getting a booth was no problem. My wife and I were seated immediately and had a very nice young lady who took our orders. The menu is surprisingly big. I got the Six Shooter which is biscuits and sausage gravy topped with chicken fried steak (or chicken fried chicken) and eggs. For a side I got hash brown casserole. My wife got Eggs Benedict we also split an order of French toast. Very good. The container the syrup comes in is a big as the coffee pot they pour your coffee with. Food came out hot and fresh and was really really good. The service and the food were all fantastic. I'd avoid this location on weekends unless you are willing to wait. Often when passing by on weekends there is a line outside or people waiting to go in. There are however small two person booths as well. It's the larger groups that will end up waiting. But 1-4 people shouldn't have much of a wait. Will definitely go back. The food is that home cooking stuff that makes you happy. read more
