Either way you leave satisfied, and this visit was no exception. I started with the chicken and gnocchi soup, a creamy, rich bowl with Italian dumplings, spinach, and enough comfort in every spoonful to justify the trip on its own. Then came the Calabrian steak and shrimp bucatini, part of their seasonal Calabrian Summer menu. Sirloin steak tips and shrimp over bucatini in a spicy pepper cream sauce with spinach and tomatoes. Bold, flavorful, and generous enough that I took some home after feeding two of us at lunch for $39. The steak was cooked medium rare as intended, which is perfectly correct but just not my personal preference. I would have traded some of the meat for more shrimp, but that is a preference, not a flaw. The staff was attentive, the environment comfortable, and the prices are exactly what you expect from a national chain, with the Calabrian pasta sitting at the higher end of the menu but earning it with the portion size. This is not fine dining and it does not pretend to be. It is a dependable, well executed Italian comfort food experience that hits the mark when the craving strikes. Yes, they are a chain. But most chains started out as a successful mom and pop. Regardless, Olive Garden does it right and does it right every time for my wife and me. She--without fail--gets the salmon. This time I got the lasagna. I like the Tour, cheese ravioli, chicken or egg plant parmigiana. Of course, the salad. So refreshing. Service is always good. This location is designed to look like an Italian villa. Olive Garden--always a go to. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Good food, atmosphere and service. I love how the meals come with unlimited soup or salad and you can't go wrong either. The salad is good with the best dressing. The soups are delicious. My favorite soup is the chicken & gnocchi. My 2 favorite meals are the fettuccine alfredo and I also love the eggplant parmesan. My only complaint is I don't like how none of their pastas come with meat. You have to add on meat for an extra charge and it's not a couple of bucks. It's like 5 bucks. read more

The food was actually not the problem. Though the chicken in the fettuccine Alfredo was sad and the appearance of the dish was awful. There was just such chaotic service. I think our waiter was very new to the job and seemed confused and overwhelmed the whole time. Even though I don't usually go to Olive Garden I have fun memories of it feeling like a generous and warm experience. It was so chaotic that it didn't feel like that at all. I don't know if I just have had more restaurant exposure since the last time I've been here, or if Olive Garden is just going downhill. I'm sad and disappointed to be writing this review as I used to love coming here. We arrived and were seated within 5 minutes or so which lead me to believe it wasn't busy. Lots of empty tables. But the service did not flow as if it was not busy. Our appetizer arrived promptly along with 3 breadsticks, and our respective soup and salad. The salad was super lackluster, very watery and huge abundant pieces of purple onion, which usually I'm a fan of, but this was overkill. It took quite a while for our main entrees to arrive. And maybe it's my personal opinion, but I think the main course should be accompanied by another round of breadsticks. Ours was not. To be honest my food didn't taste fresh to me. I was let down. When we arrived and told them we were celebrating our anniversary the waitress told us she would put in an order for a special occasion dessert, for one reason or another that never arrived. We didn't want to stay more time there so we just left instead of asking about it. We were also out of our drinks for a large part of the meal and I feel like that isn't good service. Other than when we asked for something we saw our waitress twice. It's hard to be attentive to your table's needs when you don't pay attention to your table. We probably won't be back. The consistency of preparation and taste at this location keeps me coming back. Food was served hot and at the same time for our party of six, while drinks and bread sticks were stocked regularly before we even hit the final one. The restaurant was packed yet clean. With arguably the most demanding order on the menu (unlimited salad and soup), Jada handled the constant back and forth deliveries with aplomb and a smile on her face. Very much on top of our status at the table at all times, she was pleasant, helpful, and accurate. Will ask for her again. Olive Garden, just a note: live up to your namesake and find a way to put more than two measly olives in a huge salad bowl. It wouldn't kill anyone's bottom line to get four or five. Yes, we get many Olive Garden gift cards from family and friends, but we do love patronizing our local Olive Garden, regardless. It's always good food, and always excellent service. This time was no different. We went there again late last June for an early dinner...and were waited on by Karson. We always love the Italian salad and breadsticks...but those damn yellow pepperoncini (which generally I adore) are just waaaay too salty! Yuck. But I digress. The salad and breadsticks were de-lish, and my wife ordered cheese ravioli while I did the create-your-own pasta...with angel hair, the creamy mushroom sauce (think mushroom alfredo), and a side of two Italian sausages. My wife loved hers, and I only like mine. I love the concept of angel hair and mushroom Alfredo...but this came to me as something that was verrrrrrry heavy, thick, and well, did I say heavy? It tasted good, but as it cooled the pasta hardened up like edible concrete and the whole dish became extra tough. I ate about half of it and one sausage...and saved the rest as leftovers. A few days later I finished it but I put a good amount of fresh Alfredo on it to loosen things up. It was better the second time honestly. For dessert, we enjoyed the Italian Doughnuts with raspberry sauce. They came out smoking hot...but was awesome. Karson did a fantastic job taking care of our needs and refills...and was awarded with a nice tip. Again, FOUR Stars for good food and excellent service. Yesterday my friend and I ate at the Sugarhouse location . Service was good however, my food was with chicken and couldn't eat a piece without some kind of gristle and had to put it in a paper napkin. The fettuccine was delicious. Imagine having a 20 minute wait for a table, after waiting, and starving, your little buzzer goes off, and you're on your way to your table...way in the back of the restaurant. As you pass by large tables filled with large families you hear people singing Happy Birthday, kids screaming, babies crying, and the acoustic are really good in here because everyone was talking so LOUD. We had a really good waitress despite it being crazy busy. After looking at the new menu, I really didn't see anything that looked appetizing. I just ordered the soup. I had intentions of ordering something to go, so I could eat it for lunch tomorrow, but I didn't. The bread stick were cooked perfect, and were even warm right out of the oven. The soup not so much. If you're seated at the bar, don't count on getting your food in a timely manner. Nor in a logical manner. We sat down and ordered our food right away. We didn't need time to think. One person ordered a meal with soup and salad, one person ordered just the soup and salad, then 2 kids meals, and sodas. A few minutes later the meal was brought out (but none of the soups, salad, breadsticks nor drinks). 10 minutes later, the soups and waters were brought. I reminded a different server about our missing soda and breadsticks. So a few minutes later she brought those to us. 5 breadsticks for our party of 6 people. So we requested more breadsticks. They took 10 minutes. We requested more breadsticks and a soda refill, it took another 10 minutes. The next time we requested more breadsticks, after 8 minutes I got up and asked at the desk for online orders if I could get some more breadsticks because our server was being so slow. They gave me some right away. When our server brought us breadsticks, he claimed they were in the oven. But the sticks he brought us were not hot like they just came out of the oven. I got there when they said to be there and I still have to wait 10 minutes for them to bring the order out, and that was because I called to find out what's going on. This isn't the first time the service has been this sad at this location. In the end the breadsticks were cold and hard and the salad was filled half as much as it used to be. This is our first time at this location. The location is beautiful inside and this is the largest location I've seen in Utah. Our waitress was very kind, attentive, and had some great recommendations. The food came quickly and was delicious. I am excited that their iced teas and lemonades are never ending. Another January 20th, another trip to Olive Garden (see my first review below). Same story this year. Raspberry lemonade (per tradition) and now we're sticking to the soup-salad-breadstick lunch. To be honest, I don't have any complaints about that deal. It all hinges on prompt service, and most of the Olive Garden serving folk are nothing if not prompt and bubbly. So we got several bowls of soup, a little salad, and mopped up with the 'sticks. That's the plan from here on out on the 20th.
