Quality/Quantity - What a great discovery!!! And only on a Sunday or weekend...? So happy to have…read morecome. I love hanging out with the locals. Both my wife and I supported and bought a few items, etc. So many food options. Fresh produce, meats, flowers, etc. Wineries here representing their vineyards also. All different kinds of merchandise for sale - Thrift items, to "dollar" store items, to custom made jewelry and leather pieces, etc. Ambiance - See all my pictures. This market is HUGE!! Way bigger than I expected. Maybe the biggest market we have been to since arriving in France. Public toilets nearby, my first discovery. I felt like a kid trying to figure it out. FYI - The toilet cleans itself after each use, so be patient. Oh, and I can NOT recommend the urinal... Service - Good. They are here to sell. Price - From inexpensive to expensive. Depends on what you buy, eat, or drink. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success.

Came to the Bastille Market to try one of the rotisserie chickens from here. I don't remember the…read morename of the exact place, but it was the last bird I consumed in France. My swan song from a disappointing trip in the bird department. Off the eye test, it doesn't get much better. The beautiful sight of tissi's rotating in front of a fire breathing oven, potatoes in the tray below collecting the chicken juices as they fell, had me ready to run around the Bastille plaza yelling "LE MOUVEMENT!!". I thought this was going to be my first high level bird in the City of Light. Much to my chagrin, the one I got was just lukewarm. I was ready for my fingerprints to be fully burned off. There was so much potential here, but as always, I have to judge what's in front of me. If I don't have my integrity I have nothing. It landed at an 8.1/10 on the restaurant scale which is good, but if it was hot it could have been up there with the greats in the rare 9 territory. Unrealized potential is one of the most depressing things in the world. IG @johnny.novo Tiktok @jnov__ Substack @johnnynovo

I am being generous with this review…read more Quality/Quantity - The better of the two markets we visited today. It was our first day here, so I needed to stock up on supplies - Water, fruits, snacks, and of course beer and wine, lol. I think I was spoiled by the huge upscale market that we went to every day in Nice. You know the one I am talking about, because you are following. Ambiance - Decent size, but an irregular shaped market. Has the minimum of everything we need. But it would be nice to have a full service deli, bakery, etc. Service - This is where it all failed... They/she had the hardest time getting our loyalty card. She struggled entering our phone #. Then the cashier started helping someone else with a complaint when it was finally our turn to check out. The cashier just could not figure it out, so she started going through her garbage to dig out all the previous receipts. The person behind me got impatient and started complaining. The customer that cut in line started complaining. I almost just left... Price - I did not even look; I just wanted to get OUT of there. Oh, everything we bought did not have prices, so all your labels need to be updated... What a mess! Owner Comment - Not sure what you need to do, but you need to hire better employees. Two for two FAIL!!

A very busy market, and our first visit into a grocery store while overseas. The bakery items…read more(bread, croissants, lots more) were fresh and ready to grab and go. There was plenty of beer and wine to choose from (inexpensively) and along with meats, and cheeses all the usual items you'd find in most grocery stores here in the States. The produce looked fresh, there was good selection of frozen foods and though the store was busy, the line moved fairly quickly. You bag it yourself here, so it doesn't hurt to carry a bag of your own while visiting, or grab one of their reusables cheaply to bring back to the US with you as a souvenier of your overseas adventure.
