Went to Ollie's last night. It's your basic run down diner. The food was not that good to me. I got steak tips which were over cooked. I have gotten burgers here before and they were subpar. You could tell the beef wasn't fresh. Not sure if their cooks have gotten worse but I used to love Ollie's Gyros. The food hasn't been as good as it was a couple years ago. Used to get take out from Ollies on a pretty regular basis. I go less frequently now because their customer service isn't what it used to be. My most recent experience was an attempt at using their online ordering system. I found what I wanted, and submitted my order. They had an offer for 10% off if you register your account. I went through the registration process and entered the coupon code, but when I finished checking out, I noticed that I did not receive my 10% discount. Not a huge deal, it would have been something like $1.70. The system states that food will be 20-30 mins, and the page acts as though it will give you order status updates, but in reality just starts a timer telling you how long it has been since your order went through. Based on my more recent experiences there, I opted to give them about the full half hour. I arrived, went to the counter to pick up my food, and the young lady that started to help me, got my signature on the credit card slip, before going into the kitchen to get my food. She told me she'd be right back, but got pulled into a conversation with a coworker while leaving me standing at the counter. A few minutes later she went into the kitchen, came out, dumped a bag of food in front of me on the counter, told me to have a great night and walked away without reviewing my order with me. I looked in the bag, something seemed amiss, so I opened the food packaging in the bag to discover this was in fact, not my order. It took another few minutes of my standing there for someone to ask me if something was wrong, because the entire wait staff was busy in personal conversation, and general grabassery. I'm all for having fun at work, but it all had a very unprofessional air, especially when a customer is standing at the counter, clearly not being properly attended to. About 7 minutes after alerting someone to the issue, they figured out that my food had been given to another customer, and it would be another 20 mins or so before my food would be ready. In the mean time the other customer, an elderly gentleman, called to inquire about his correct order and they told him to come back to the restaurant. I cannot be 100% sure, because they took the food into the kitchen, but I'm pretty sure they gave him the food that they had already handed to me, based on both the crinkled up bag from being handled by myself and the staff, and the fact that not enough time elapsed to remake his food. They offered neither that gentleman, nor myself any compensation for the inconvenience they caused, which struck me as a failure on their end to show any kind of concern for customer satisfaction. Then to top it all off, I got my chicken tenders home roughly an hour after placing my order that "would be ready in 20-30 mins", and they had a rather fishy flavor to them. I frequented this place regularly for many years, though it's been a while since I was here (year or so). We sat in the back right section and was not happy. The fact that the bar was packed should have been a red flag. It was clear that the AC was operating in the back room and there were multiple flies that were not pleasant to watch. Went on the recommendation of our in-laws. Wanted to really like it but could not. Service was very good but the food not so much. The four of us had lamb burger which was so so, cheese burger which was so, so, BBQ ribs that my father-in- law finished but he always finishes his food. And, I had the chicken fingers which were decent. Fingers were compared in other reviews as like the Backroom. They were smaller and had lots of breading, so not so much. Mother-in-law asked for an egg on her burger but they didn't have any. Really! How do they make so many dishes without eggs?!?! I think it's because the food is prepared and frozen. They don't even have eggs on site.... Disclaimer: My parents love this place. So, we wanted to try it with them. Went on a Friday around lunch time. It was not crowded. We were seated at a table in a room towards the back. Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy dolls were encased on the wall in a mirror-box. It was.... different. I like Laurel and Hardy from my kid days, but it felt a little weird seeing them up high on the wall. So I was still looking forward to the food. My mom had recently had a burger with an egg on top (normally a Texas Burger or aka Hangover Burger. So I told her she should try to get a burgher with a fried egg on top. She thought that was a capital idea and so ordered. The waitress looked at her as if she had two heads, and replied, "Oh, We don't have any eggs." WHAT?? No eggs at a restaurant? WTH? The waitress said she had never heard of an egg on a burger. I said that yes, it was pretty routine and that it was usually called a Texas Burger or a Hangover Burger. She said that the Texas Burger at Ollie's had a slice of raw onion on it. Well, I thought to myself, that's just fine, but its not REALLY a Texas Burger then is it? A restaurant without eggs, means that basically nothing is made in house, including any of the fried foods that would require egg dip. and is mostly frozen and comes in boxes from suppliers. That did not do much to make me think the food would be as good as I had hoped. And, they didn't disavow me of that opinion. We started with Mozzarella sticks that were obviously right out of the freezer from Hannaford's (or maybe Market Basket, or maybe worse). Clearly not fresh. My wife had chicken tenders, which she had rad were supposed to be similar to those at The Puritan Backroom. She didn't mind them, but they cam with a small plastic tub of Asian dipping sauce, mashed potatoes with an obviously canned brown gravy. Singularly unimpressive. I had the Lamb Burger. It came with a bit of feta cheese, an uninspired lamb burger, a thin slice of unripe tomato, and spinach on it. Ugh. Mom had a burger which she liked. Dad had a half rack of ribs that he ate completely but they were obviously over cooked and skimpy on the meat. All the meat fell off the bone in one bite. A no-no for anyone who likes decent ribs. Meaty? Try skeletal. I'm happy my parents have a good place they like to eat at, but my wife and I shall not be stepping anywhere hear the doors of this place again. You could get better food out of a middle school cafeteria. read more

Whether eating in or takeout Ollies is a very good option. Not big on decor and not fancy,but the food is always good to exceptional. Generous selection of menu choices. Drinks are good, some of our family favorites include: fried clams,scallops,fried or baked stuffed haddock , baked seafood casserole, chicken parmesan, antipasto salad and grilled sirloin tips. French onion soup and crabmeat stuffed mushrooms are nice accompaniments. read more

The menu is bland, nothing great, typical diner food, appeals to the older crowd. Worst dinner salad I've ever had, riddled with chopped white onions, bland iceberg lettuce, one pale cherry tomato and a huge green pepper ring. Not my favorite place by far. I have been going here with my family for years and never had a bad meal. My husband and I went last night specifically for the haddock. I had haddock Florentine which was good ( not great - piece of fish over spinach nothing else)My husband had baked stuffed haddock when it came out it had an ammonia smell . I encouraged him to send it back and order the same thing as that is what we came for. He did order it and it came back again with same odor. The server was great about it and offered to get him something else which he ordered chicken tenders which were fine. I did however notice the cook peering out at our table probably not happy that we had sent two meals back. You can definitely tell that things have changed as well as owners/ cooks. Ollies was great. I had a custom made Mushroom Melt Burger and fries and it was great. I work at Verizon arena as a video-camera op for the Monarchs and was coming up from North of Boston. I told them I wanted it ready by 4:45, it was 4:15 when I left Burlington on route 3, but they suggested 5:10. Sure enough I get into Manchester and walk in the door at exactly 5:10 and my food is waiting for me cooked to perfection. Ollie's truly has great customer service. It was packed with locals and seems like the place to be. Just across the bridge on Mast Road Rte 114, across Bridge St. in The Rimmon Neighborhood it is a hop skip and stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle of Downtown Manchester. read more

I tried this based on the 4 stars averaged by Yelp reviewers, but was terribly disappointed. The lackluster decor and strong stench of fish immediately brought "Weathervane meets Bickfords" into mind. The paper place mats (bulletins for local advertising) and the plastic cups didn't help either. The menu was way too lengthy and showed just how confused this restaurant is... The daily specials were mostly seafood choices but the menu showed: pizza, subs and sandwiches, salads, seafood, Italian, Greek, chicken, steak, burgers, wings, soup, etc. The waitress recommended the Baked Stuffed Haddock (a top seller), so we tried that. The haddock was cooked just fine but smothered in an overload of butter. The "seafood" stuffing atop the haddock was slightly burnt and tasted only like crackers and butter -not seafood. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant mashed potatoes, without a doubt, and came with gravy. Gravy with haddock? ...a faux paux in my opinion. The salad consisted of yellow iceberg lettuce, a couple of cucumbers and green peppers, topped with a lot of white onion. The dinner roll brought me back to lunch time in public schools. The french fries were good... I wish that's all I ordered for dinner. read more

One of the best restaurants in the area, and it has been for a long time. We love the baked stuff haddock, pizza and calzones. In my opinion, Ollie's is much better than the Back Room and there are so many options on the menu that even the pickiest eater can find something they like. We aren' t local anymore, but always like to go to Ollie's when we are in the area. read more

This is a great place to eat. I'd like to answer one reviewer though - we ate at Ollie's the other day and asked for separate checks and they obliged with no problem. I haven't had a bad meal here since I have been frequenting this place. Yesterday I had a cup of chicken rice soup and a small plain cheese pizza, diet coke and a kahlua cheesecake for dessert. Desserts are expensive at this place, though, averaging $4.25 a piece. Restaurants should have a dessert price with a meal and a price if you are just getting dessert. read more

Food is always very good and always consistent. On a Friday and Saturday night usually there is a wait but never more than 10 minutes. My favorite is the hot veggie sub in a syrian. The steak fires are the best in town. Would love if they offered coupons or a frequent diner card/club. read more

I used to frequent this place quite often, However I refuse to set foot in this establishment ever again. This evening my friend asked about an up charge on his bill and the manager was very rude in his response. The owner called him a "Fu@)in A&@hole and to get out of my restaurant". Threatened to call police even. This over a dollar up charge that was not stated on menu. There is never any reason to treat any customer the way he was treated. read more

I have a lot of friend that go to Ollies all the time. So with that said I went. I ordered the baked lamb special w/ mashed potatoes. my guest ordered Fishermans platter and Hawaiian chicken. The baked Lamb was flavorless and dry, the sauce had a burnt taste. Which is to bad because both my guest loved thier meals. Service was quick and our server as polite made sure we were all set. I will go back but maybe I'll tried the lamb again if not the special. read more

I met a friend with obvious mobility issues and not only did she lead us to the far back of an empty restaurant, she seated us at a tiny booth that would have been tight for a super model. Just came back from Ollie's. This was our second time there and the food is outstanding. You're going to find this funny, but for a good sized restaurant, I've seen bigger restrooms on train cars. The two urinals are right to the left as you open the door. So if someone is using the first one, when you open the door you not only get a free show, you will probably cripple the guy for life. When I opened the door a guy was washing his hands and the door almost drove him through the wall mirror. Come on folks, for a restaurant this size, you can afford to make the restrooms larger. Terrible food! I've been there twice, thought the first time was just a bad day there, went again and it was just as bad. I ordered chicken cordon bleu and got chicken kiev, when I said something to the waitress, she said, "the look a like.". Which means......they are serving you frozen food! My husband picked up a take out order today, they put no dressing with the salad he ordered and there were no mashed potatoes with my dinner as requested, I called to speak to someone and all she could offer was a credit for potato's and salad , to use on our next visit. I asked to speak to the manager Chuck the waitress told me after she put me on hold for a longtime that chuck was too busy to come to the phone, that it wasn't her fault, she said he's also the owner!! What a poor way to run a business chuck!!!! My family and I have been coming to Ollies for many years. It's a family style, non-pretentious, comfortable place so don't be looking for high end ambience and a gourmet menu. The service is always friendly and prompt and the waitresses are very attentive throughout the meal. The Ollie burgers and chicken fingers are great, subs and pizza very good, but our favorite is the seafood. We often order the fried haddock and clam dinner, which until recently, was a very generous portion. On the last visit, the piece of haddock was very small and there were fewer clams - a very noticeable difference from past visits. The price was close to $20. Maybe there was a new cook on or maybe they are feeling the economic pinch and cutting portions. We will try again, but may end up going to a similar restaurant in Derry where the haddock and clam portions continue to be generous and the price about the same. read more
