Sleep-over and wine/liqueur tasting.
We did not spring for the luxurys of the villas but rather the simplicity of the "aittamajoitus". The provided accommodations are basic but functional an at a very low price point. The description given on their site was fair and photos where representative.
We had the tasting meny of wines, liquers, liquor and a small bottle of the white currant dry sparkling wine. Non of us being particulary fond of sweet desert wines found the Puntun Paavo (a sweet wine made from birchwood sap and lingonberries) with it's sweet yet astringent taste to be a wonderful pairig with cheese (in this case a gingerbread cookie topped with a sweet espuuma of some description and a slice of mild blue cheese). The appel liquer was a real dark horse that clearly stood out against the other liquers. It had a real crisp refreshing taste, really delightful. The saimaa snapsi and marja pontikka where also enjoyable. My friend also had the terva-omena cider, a somewhat nishe product, but if you like the tar flavour it's a smashing hit.
Pricing for the tasting is affordable and well worth a visit. As a whole experience, with accommodation and beverages 8,5/10. read more
