Absolutely exceptional. We have had 2 beautiful fences built by Olson's and have been beyond happy with the work they do. From the free estimate all the way up until the beautifully finished product, Olson's has been responsive, professional and have a very hard-working crew that are pleasant to work with. Their quotes are incredibly reasonable and their warranty is unbeatable. Oh, and I'd like to mention that the 7 year warranty was passed on to the owners of the home, after we sold it. Fence was built around my neighbors yard to keep their new puppy in. There are huge gaps under the fence up to 8 inches high. The puppy can literally walk under these gaps-- Unbelievable that a business can do such an ineffective job and still be in business. I do not recommend this business. read more

Suspended license and bond have estimate and bid took huge deposit while suspension which per law RCW 18.27 is not allowed failed to perform work we cancelled all contract voided for above no cancel fees in contract and they didn't do a single minute of work. Weeks of unanswered emails and a full VM unanswered calls then a flurry of bizarre texts and emails like this was an episode of the Sopranos. He does not understand the legal system nor avenues of recourse available. He cannot just keep money on a exercised voidable contract. He was suspended. He sounded ​almost impaired, and ​harassing we filed Sheriff report and are out quite a bit of money and have to pursue other means to recover. We lost our fence in bomb cyclone. Kept ALL our money performed ZERO work and had audacity to issue an additional invoice for full bill of job after he knew it was cancelled due to bond and license issues. WTF? Insane. We are concerned for ourselves at this point. How awful praying on senior citizens in natural disasters. Not sure how my zero star review next day ​was 3 star will be watching this. Expensive but did a decent job putting the fence up in a timely manner. Materials they use seem to fall apart after 1 year (posts and lattice). I have 2 posts cracked deeply across the entire height and they refuse to honor replacing poor quality materials. They are good at taking your money but customer service lacks a lot to be desired. I originally contacted Olson's in January to receive a quote for a fruit tree removal/stump grind and branches trimmed from our neighbors fruit tree. Their bid came in a bit too high so we decided to wait a few weeks to get more. Then I received a call from the owner stating that they had a job cancellation and would be open to come out and complete the entire job for a nice discount! Who doesn't like a discount? I confirmed that the tree would be removed, stump would be grounded and the branches would be removed. Well, here is what happened: 1) Jan 2020: The guys came and removed the tree. They started packing up and we reminded them that they had to trim the branches. They did that. I went out later and saw that the tree stump was still pretty prominent. I called up the owner to pay and mentioned the stump. "We will get back out there and take care of it." 2) Feb 24, 2020: D.J. Me: I am writing to inquire about this tree stump we still have out here. Your guy came two weeks ago, couldn't get the machine into our yard, and said we would hear from the office. We haven't heard a word. I'm disappointed that it's taking so long. Can you please provide some type of update? Olson: We do apologize that it is taking so long for us to get back out to do this work for you. We had rented a stump grinder to try to compete the work for you as ours was in the shop for repairs. Unfortunately, our grinder is still in the shop at this time. We will call or email you with updates and try to get this done as soon as possible, we may be able to sub-contract this out as well to get it taken care of. 3) March - COVID-19 hit and we all know what happened. Crickets from Olson's. 4) May 2020 - I called and asked if they were working. I really want this stump grounded. I received a return call and they said they could come and I would be CHARGED! Um, no. I reminded them I have already paid. I was told someone would be out the next week. It has been TWO weeks. I'm over it. I am angry and disappointed. Was really excited to work with these guys, everyone I talked to seemed nice. Unfortunately, our estimate appointments always seemed to get moved around. We were supposed to get a deck estimate today at 1:00 but never received a call or anything to inform us that he wasn't coming. We called the business number and were told by the lady on the phone that she didn't know where he was. Kind of disappointed. UPDATE: Please don't lie on your responses to a customers review. Take a bad review in stride. If you run a business sometimes you will have unhappy customers. Various other contractors informed us that our deck would need to be totally demolished and rebuilt, but Brian took it as a challenge and a service to utilize the existing deck and bring it to code - for half what the others were bidding, not including the demolition! Update 7/12: The front gate post twisted and the hardware was installed badly. The rear gate pushes against closing and requires a good push to get the hardware to latch/unlatch. Some of the hardware is rusting. It took several weeks and multiple requests for Brian to have a worker come out. He offered a reasonable refund and I should have taken it because the worker that came out was rude and tried to pass off the problems as non-issues. It's a shame because he set a very bad example for a new trainee. Because pavers were now in place and the post could not be removed, they sawed off the gate to make it fit and fiddled with but failed to fix the latch. They did a great job chopping down our trees in our back yard, initially we couldn't have our stumps grinded (due to location of our rock wall & fence) but after the wind storm the fence came down so we were able to schedule a time for them to come back out to grind the stumps. We had set a time and date for stump grinding and for them to fix up the fence all in one day. I guess he outsourced another company to grind the stumps, not complaining bc Ted was an awesome guy who did a great job, but Brian's team never showed up afterwards to fix the fence. We were communicating over Facebook messenger throughout the whole process and I never got a message abt him not coming out or anything. I even spoke with him the morning of to see what time they would be around and he had mentioned "mid day." It was unfortunate that we weren't able to get our fence fixed by them. Services requested: take down a huge unsafe tree in my backyard and replace old broken fence with chain-link. They did a good job on the tree but never showed up to do the fence. I've emailed and called Brian but never got a response. I really don't understand companies that do not response back to calls/emails. Communication was great in the beginning but it seemed like he didn't want to do the fence anymore or something. We even talked about putting a payment down on supplies but that fell thru too! I'm glad it did because could you imagine paying thousands of money on a supply and never get it done?! Anyways, it would have been nice to get some type of response. From the concrete pouring to the lining up and nailing of the boards these two were go go go. Extremely professional and an awesome job. My wife and I could not be happier. Brian and his crew were great! We contacted them to get an estimate on repairing or replacing our very large deck a few months before a big event we had planned at our home. Brian impressed us right away by sending the bid when he said he would. He noted that the deck had some structural problems and recommended replacement. We had received a few other bids, but felt the best about working with Brian, so decided to move forward with him. He agreed that he could finish the deck before our party. We knew this was a very tight timeline, but he guaranteed that he would finish it and said that we shouldn't worry. This was a BIG project (3200 Sq feet of new composite decking in our backyard on a steep slope with a pool in the middle,) but they pulled it off! Several unexpected issues came up, but they were dealt with professionally and within the agreed upon time frame. Our deck was completed in time for our event and we couldn't be happier. Beyond looking amazing, the new deck is now much safer because of the work they did on the support structure. We are really glad we trusted Brian and his crew with our project! read more

We recently moved to the Maple Valley area and needed to find a fence company to fully fence our backyard (to keep our dogs in). It was very difficult to find someone who would answer their phone or come out to provide an estimate. Thankfully, I contacted Olson's Outdoor Improvements and they immediately answered and scheduled a time for an estimate. The estimate process was super quick and we had the price the same day someone came out to look at the area. The price seemed fair and we booked a time for the work to be done. We ended up having a wood fence and a black chain link fence installed. DO NOT USE!! I had a HUGE cedar fence project that they did (almost $20,000 worth of work). Their crew did fine the first few days but once the "supervisor" was gone- it went WAY down hill. The crew got sloppy with how they were installing the fence, started leaving HUGE gaps at the bottom ( I had to call in to get it fixed) and was sloppy with materials and missed boards with nailing. I fixed 3 that wwre on the bottom but due to the fence being 8ft tall, I had to have them out to nail one where the top was missed.They were supposed to measure the total fence for final "cost"- the crew tried to leave with out measuring and when I made them,they did, but they used a cloth measuring tape and didnt even measure straight.( imagine 140 degree angles instead of straight 180) Whatever..it wasnt more than the estimate and wasnt worth the fight. After all that I asked the crew if they were going to pick up the trash. They claimed there wasnt any, so I had to force them to walk with me picking up nails, wood pieces and parts of concrete bags. I thought this was FINALLY over when I got a very upset call from my neighbor a few days later. The crew had thrown wood scraps/post piececs, garbage- EVEN a FULL ROLL OF NAILS in her yard over the fence!! When I brought this to their attention, they claimed to want to come over to discuss this. I informed them, they would have to call due to my schedule being full that week... Olsens said theyd call the next day. INSTEAD I got 2 men showing up to my house asking to give a BID for a fence project that didnt even exists!! (after I said 1-I didnt have time to be bothereds by anyone that day and 2- NO PHONE CALL!!) I again VERY UPSET, emailed them only to be told I wasthe one confused.. SERIOUSLY?? ! Ive got emails and pics for anyone who wants them and am HAPPY to speak with any potential customers to showthem all this! Just txt me- my cell is 425-466-8348. (yes- Im sharing my cell phone number-thats how serious I am about this!) If after I spent ALL THAT $$ on this project ,if this is how they treat custromers and their homes, I can't even imagine how little respect they will have for lesser jobs. BE WARNED! I had a relatively good experience with this contractor building a fence. While Brian, the owners, communication abilities are lacking, his work was good, materials better and price competitive. I therefore trusted him to install a roof for me. I paid for the materials (8K) direct to the supplier as Brian instructed and gave him $3000.00 to "put the job on his schedule". When the supplier couldn't reach him, and kept calling me about details they needed, I tried to reach him as well. This went on for 10 days. He didn't respond to many emails, text and voice messages, and only called me back to assure me "all was fine, and he would be at my home on Monday morning". At 8:23 am Monday he sent me an email that he was cancelling the job! (Not postponing because of Covid). I had to ask him many times to contact me, and pay me back, with no response. Thankfully the supplier credited back all my money, which they were not obligated to do. He caused me a lot of stress and now I have to start all over again to get the roof done. I was paid the 3K after a week. Brain, if you refute this, I may reply with email support from the supplier. I turned down a worthy bid from an honest contractor as you harm your own peers by this behavior. If you are having organizational problems, simply don't accept the job and/or respond promptly to resolve the problems you create. read more

(and they (Olson's) were boasted about on the Maple Valley Facebook page) They never showed up and never called on the day of the appointment. Then a few days and also a few weeks later they are calling and wanting to reschedule the appointment.... Brian and his team did an incredible job removing 9 very large and dangerous Cottonwood trees that threatened our home. This was a difficult job, one that most other companies no-bid or gave very high quotes to complete. Brian coordinated work that involved a crane, a logging truck, two climbers, and a ground crew. They safely brought these trees down, and removed a majority of the wood without big disposal fees. He worked with our budget and found ways to dispose of the logs without charging to do it. I'm very happy with the outcome and the price of the work. 4 stars here rather than 5 simply because scheduling of the work left a little to be desired. We started the job fall of 2015 and finished it Spring of 2016. At the time of doing this work, Brian was coordinating as well as actively working as part of the crew. Other companies might have a more professional office support staff to support scheduling, but that comes with overhead costs... Bottom line - Brian brought a professional crew that completed the work safely and did it at an affordable price. He's earned my trust and I'd be happy to use his team again for other tree work on our property. read more

Brian sent out 2 great guys to take down 2 trees for me. One was little, but growing out of a stump, so it was cut by one of the guys while we waited for the other logger to arrive. The other tree was a rotten alder that was really dangerous. It was amazing to watch these 2 men work together on this dangerous tree. The tree climber tied himself off to another tree for safety. The man on the ground tied off a rope to the top part of the hazard tree to keep it off of my fence. Impressive tree work. They did a wonderful job and everyone was quite safe. I have hired them to remove trees before, and I will hire them again, when needed. read more

We are so happy we chose Olson's Outdoor Improvements to install a fence in our backyard. They were amazing! Our backyard was a bit of a challenge, with some height differences, and a tree we wanted to save, and they worked around it all. Brian, the owner, came out right on time on the scheduled assessment date, walked the yard and went over all the options for us. We immediately liked his friendly and professional manner. His bid was right in the middle of two other companies we'd looked at, but we went with Olson's because they seemed competent and experienced. They were! The crew who came out to do the job were total professionals. And hard working! They also were right on time, and had our fence up in two days. One to go over the project with us, demo an old fence, and set the posts. Then a second to connect the posts and put in the slats and caps. Throughout the process they checked with us, and made some great suggestions that really improved the original plan! I was so happy. During our recent snowstorm, an apple tree in my backyard decided that life was too heavy to bear so with the help of that heavy, wet snow, it's life was ended & it fell!! Fortunately it didn't hit the house but it was leaning precariously on an apple tree as well as the neighbor's fence & the root of the tree caused damage to a small part of that fence! Also a huge branch from a very old Madrona along with several smaller ones, fell upon the sidewalk in the front of my house creating a huge mess & inconvenience! On Tuesday I contacted several tree services requesting bids & the following day, Wednesday, those companies came over to see the damages & to give me their estimates!
