Myself and a friend were staying in the village on a Saturday night and decided to source a meal from a local restaurant. We thought a curry would suit so went into Omars where we were immediately shown to the last available table in the house at that time which gives an indication of it's popularity. We were attended by a very well presented waiter who was able to put us at some ease and recommend both starters and main courses to us having little idea ourselves of the content or flavour of a very varied Indian cuisine on the menu. We ordered wine and leisurely ate the papadums and sauces whilst waiting for the starters. The garlic mushrooms were fine and very tasty, however my friend's samosas were rather overdone and so crisp as to be considerably resistant to the sharp knife supplied but on making a compalint a replacement dish was quickly served along with profuse apologies and the dish proved very enjoyable. The main courses as recommended were a Dhansak and a Jalfrezi served with mushroom rice and Naan bread. The mains were served from hot metal bowls and were absolutely delicious. I had some misgivings about a jalfrezi being too spicey for my taste but it was beautifully flavoured to just the right level and the dhansak was just as delicious as were the mushroom rice and naan bread which we shared. On settling our account we were offered a complimentary liquer and great interest was shown in our satisfaction on the evening's fayre. Saturday nights one expects a good restaurant to be busy and some waiting involved giving time to anticipate the pleasures of the dish ordered and in all we were more than pleased with the cuisine and service. Finally the price was perfectly acceptable given the surroundings, attention, service and concern in this establishment which offers a personal atmosphere with the tables set in different rooms not one noisy mass dining room. This restaurant is on the crossroads at the centre of Dunchurch and there are a number of parking areas nearby. Excellent location. This is one of the few restaurants I actually managed to find any reviews for on the web and the two I found were both excellent so my standards were high. When you enter the restaurant you immediately notice the very pleasant decorations, with a look of quality to it. This impressive look is continued throughout. There are several dining areas rather than one large room, which for me adds to the character of the restaurant. I really liked the layout of the restaurant. The toilets were excellent very clean, pleasant smelling and with everything working, so no complaints at all about them. And the toilets looked phenomenal, it was so clean and literally sparkling During the evening we were served by 3 different waiters. All of them excellent, none of them lacked the friendliness. Overall I would say Omars is THE place to visit if you want a bit of luxury as part of your evening judging by the amount of people in the restaurant it has certainly succeeded in marketing itself as a more 'up-market' establishment. I really enjoyed myself and so did my friends. We absolutely adore omars and try to go there as much as possible. And the price was a real shock, i thought it would be very expensive, but it was very quite low especially for this current time in the recession. Omar and his wife are lovely people very warm and jolly people, they look and show the fact that they really enjoy having customers and helping them too. They make you feel so welcomed as do all the staff and you just have to go back there. They treat you like royalty! I would recommend this to everyone, if you want a restaurant that you can go to regularly or go to as much as possible i would recommend it. I live Rugely and i manage to come to this restaurant at least once a month, that it how much this restaurant has impressed me, and it has really met my standards and beyond Seriously go to omars whether you want a one on one time, a great night out with the family or your friends go to omars It takes about an hour to get to omars from where i live, but it is so worth it, i am so dedicated to this restaurant if there was such thing as restaurant perfection, Omars would be it. read more

The Chicken Tikka at Omars is always very tasteless and anaemic. The Tandoori Chicken is OK but don't under any circumstances order it to take away. On two occasions I ordered Tandoori Chicken to take away from Omars and I was given one freshly cooked portion and a second which was very obviously a dry and tasteless microwaved leftover from the previous night Given how cheap the ingredients are, what an appalling way to treat a customer paying good money for a take away.. I hope they think that trying to pass off their leftovers was worth it I will never darken their doors again and I have several friends who also now avoid Omars having received poor food there. read more

Omars is a truly excellent Indian restaurant. I always try and eat there when in the Rugby area. The service is always outstanding and the food is of an exceptional standard. i have eaten in Bangalore at the finest restaurants and Omars is right up there with them. read more

went here once over the christmas period and was really impressed - very busy, lots of servers and good food, good service, got a 10quid voucher and a free baileys. but the second time i went the experience was a lot different - the food was really tasteless, the starters were poorly presented and with a less busy restaurant the service was less attentive and more pushy, i mean its nice to talk to customers but there is a limit, we just wanted to eat our food, i think i was blinded a bit by the service and all the people around me on my first visit. will not be going back, not the nicest place for indian in rugby at all. it's like theyre afraid to use spice! read more

I have eaten at Omars on 2 occasions, the first time we had the set menu which was great value for money and really nice! The second visit was last night, to celebrate my husband's birthday with our two sons! This time we went off the main menu, and it was a bit pricey, but worth every penny! Omar himself is always very attentive and so are all his staff! From the minute we walked in til we left we had brilliant service, and the food was impeccable! Would recommend this restaurant but would also suggest you book, as it is always very busy, particularly at weekends! read more

Omars is the best Indian Restaurant In Rugby. The staff are friendly and the food is fantastic. I have eaten in the restaurant many times having both the buffet and food off the menu and it has always been very good. I have also had takaways which are again very good. Highly recommended. read more
