I'm now a big believer in both acupuncture as well as Samantha as a practitioner. I'm honestly amazed at how much the treatments helped. My theory is that a lifetime of sitting in a chair for long hours at work, and various other postural issues just caught up to me and acupuncture helped reprogram a number of small muscles in a way that I wasn't able to achieve through PT, stretching, rest, etc. I'd highly recommend giving it a try. I don't find the needles painful, if that is a concern. The one in the wrist is the most sensitive for me, but it's not on the pain scale. Finally, I appreciate that Samantha's goal is to get you healthy and back to your normal life, not signed up for a lifetime of sessions.

I started seeing Amanda over a year ago when my migraines became frequent, sometimes lasting days at a time. First I went in weekly, then bi-weekly and before I knew it voila! I couldn't remember the last time I'd had a bad migraine! It seememd months had gone by. Once I had things under control she recommended I could just come back for a "tune-up" as needed. The doctors in the emergency room were hopeful that it would clear up in a few months, but said it might not ever go back to normal. I came to Dr. Kim immediately after I was diagnosed and we got to work on treating the Bell's palsy. First, her office is immaculate--welcoming, clean, professional. She takes infection control/covid very seriously so she wore a mask the entire time she was treating me. I had never gotten acupuncture before and was pretty nervous when we began. She modified the treatment to my situation and my symptoms (I was a weenie when it came to the regular needles, so she used smaller ones on me). She always treated me with kindness and professionalism. Even though I'm not a big fan of needles, I looked forward to my treatments with Dr. Kim. It took some time to see improvements, but Dr. Kim did a great job at setting realistic expectations right off the bat. She said it might not happen right away, but I should see some improvement in the coming months. Within about a month, I was seeing significant improvement. In about ten weeks, I was 100% healed. It was absolutely remarkable. I was actually sad when I had my last treatment with her a few weeks back. My face loved the care and rejuvenation (noticeable benefits!), and I felt more resilient and healthier all around. Calming music, well-placed needles, the most relaxing face light (I just wanted to curl up in there and drift off on a fluffy relaxing cloud). Ahhhh. Sooo calming. In our first meeting and thereafter, Kim thoroughly evaluated my health and I could see her assessing how various parts of my health picture were connected. I liked that she has an advanced degree and that she spent time in China studying acupuncture and incorporates other healing modalities like acupressure. She took my details and then checked my coverage with the insurance company and let me know ahead of time what was and wasn't covered (so lovely!), then made an appointment for the next day. The office (Jang Acupuncture) is a lovely little oasis in the middle of the financial district and once she'd checked my pulse and my tongue (don't eat purple lollipops before you go), lay me down on a massage-like table and...well half an hour later she woke me up. Yes, I know, one would never think laying on the table with needles stuck in your hands and feet would be relaxing but she also hits some kind of relaxation meridian so it's inevitable! Two treatments later, and my foot is completely back to normal! I even cancelled my third appointment as I really felt great. As for Ms. Taylor, she has a gentle touch, a reassuring grace, and is warm and friendly. If (I should say when, really) I am in pain again, I will see her again - I have her number on speed dial!

I originally went to Kristen with upper back/shoulder/neck pain, and she was able to give me significant relief after just one session. After several sessions, I felt like the problem was completely under control. Later, I wound up having a severe and seemingly unrelated lower back issue, and came to her barely able to walk. By the time I left her office, I felt immensely better. Kristen is extremely thorough and diligent, and she's also very personable.
