It was 4:30pm, so I called to see how late they were open and if they would be able to fix a tire so close to the time they closed. Luckily it was only a 2 mile walk to the bike shop, and they immediately took us in. We needed a new tire and tube and the man who helped us was amazing. He was incredibly nice, walked us through everything he was doing with the bike and why we got a flat on our back tire. We asked him if we should get the front tire replaced as well since the bikes are 10 years old. This would have been a good opportunity for him to upsell us, but he said we would be fine and didn't need it. I really appreciated this. We were in and out in less than 20 minutes - he was so fast! The store: - You can rent bikes and kayaks from here hourly or for the day. - They sell helmets here for kids and adults. The brand they currently have is Giro, around $60 for an adult. My husband and I have rented bikes for decades in multiple states here in America as well as in cities throughout Europe. Orleans Cycle is definitely number 1! This past August we visited Cape Cod and rented bikes for the day at this bike shop that is owned by a gentleman named Barry. The following statements will explain why it is the best: Barry took the time to bring out a special bike for me that allowed for the perfect seat height. This is very important in case something along the trail might cause one to have to quickly stop their bike. He offers advice to ensure that you are safe and informed. He doesn't just want to rent bikes to make money. He wants everyone to have an enjoyable, safe experience. My husband and I rented bikes for the day. The rates were extremely reasonable. The rates for hourly rentals were also excellent. Helmets, locks, and baskets are automatically included. All of his bikes are in pristine condition. Then to top it off, you just walk a few steps; and you are right on the Cape Cod Rail Trail which is literally adjacent to the bike shop. Perfection!

They also offered kid trailers for rentals which our little one loved. Note if you have your own bike and planning to only rent the kid trailer, their trailers aren't recommended for most bikes with disc brakes due to how they connect to the side frame of the bike. The rental rates for the day were reasonable too. If you need bike equipment, they had a nice assortment of bike gear inside. Parking and easy access to the rail trail were a plus.

I immediately called Palm City on Route 28 in South Yarmouth, and the guy was super-pleasant, gave me prices and said they could look at it right away. The tune-up is cheaper also. There are other bike shops right on the bike path in nicer, shadier and more scenic sections in Brewster & Orleans. The Dennis section where Barb's is located is hot, dry & sunny with no scenery. They just get customers due to location, not prices or attitude. One review said they were too lazy to dig out the proper-sized bike for them, and another reviewer said they were rented bikes with no helmets because they "ran out". How reckless & irresponsible is that?? So I'm not the only disgruntled customer. I'd say Barb's needs to hire nicer employees & get their act together or they will keep getting bad reviews and losing business to the nicer shops in better locations..
