Our Experience: Our 11 year old's head was itchy and we wanted to get her head checked. On our 1st visit to the lake Forest location- we were told it was a 'mild" case and after the $75 treatment were told they were all gone. On the follow up final check visit a few days later- she said they are still more and another $75 later a 2nd treatment was done and were once again told the lice were all gone. After checking ourselves today- we saw several huge louse still on the head. Unbelievable- they never got those out. This place in a money grab fraud and stay away. Not sure why all the 5 stars. After reading reviews on other lice treatment centers in OC- it appears a typical lice treatment lasts about an hour. On both occasions we were in/out in 30 minutes. ** Update** I am not the only person who has had problems with this company. It appears Shannon is quick to blame re-infestation for the lack of competence with her staff. Being "honorable" or having "pride" in your business is not hiding behind a waiver which does not offer refunds. I understand in this day and age of writing reviews the truth hurts sometimes. Maybe less monitoring Yelp and blaming re-infestation when you should spend more time training your staff... read more

a complete joke! my children were not readmitted to their school the next day, the nurse easily finding more than 15 nits in my daughters hair - that is after paying $300 the previous day for treatment and a scheduled $75 retouch on Saturday. The salesperson told me it was "human error" and did not offer any refund and the technician said the nits looked like product even though the licensed school nurse confirmed they were indeed nits. I had to take additional time off work, which was why I initially invested the 300, for convenience. Nothing convenient or guaranteed here, dont waste your money!! read more

im almost $500 indebt for me to not be Lice or nit free!!! They didnt properly remove everything as they promise after the first, second and thirday treatment !!!! I ended up having 4 employers do treatments on me and after the last treatment i went home to find out i still had nits in my hair, that was promised they would all be out! It was very disappointing i spent that much money for them to not do their job properly. I had put a review up for 5 stars before the end of my first treatment because the employer told me i would get a discount and if i knew what i know now i would have never of given this company that many stars. Lice? Peace of mind? Usually those two do not fit together...thankfully we came across Once in a Licetime. My daughter ended up having lice and I was a Google queen. I did everything I needed to do until my husband came home and I needed him to check my hair. That was when it went downhill. We went to the Lake Forest location and we are so happy that Megan was available on such short notice. Be prepared to spend a lot of money if your child has more than a few lice or nits. Glad we were able to take care of it so quickly on a Sunday. I am not happy with the way they do their pricing since the treatment is exactly the same for mild and severe cases. After reading up on treatment time per client I'm concerned since my family of four was completely done in 40 mins that included two kids being treated and two adults being checked. Spending $350 for this service in my opinion is extremely overpriced but they've got you in a desperate situation. read more

Olivia at 'Once in a lifetime' saved my bacon! I have finally conceded after two weeks of hair combing hell and am sitting in a professional lice removal salon with my whole family! Olivia bent over backwards to fit around my husband's crazy work schedule so that we have no 'missing links' in eliminating these lice. Olivia is a trained professional, clearly passionate about helping people with this pest and happy to educate me- I am learning the biology of these critters and realise I was fighting a losing battle due to lack of knowledge and poor technique. I didn't know this before: - only 30% of people itch when they have lice- itching is due to irritation from the lice saliva. Itching is the only symptom. - the eggs begin at a microscopic size so its impossible to see them- you have to retreat 4 days later to remove them. I have no doubt parents like me 'think' they have successfully treated their kids but don't realise a few days later the eggs they couldn't see are bigger and now visible. We bring our kids in for a check with our dedicated school nurse and hope for the "all clear" -perhaps there's nothing visible- but there may be microscopic eggs. A professional salon is an effective way to deal with this problem. Unless we get a re-infestation of course. So parents- come and get your family checked-these people are genuine and will charge next to nothing for a head check- they totally empathise and yes its a business-they deserve every cent. This place is amazing! We noticed my daughters had lice when we tried to get their hair trimmed, and we called Once In A Licetime, and they were able to take us that same day to start the removal process. They were quick and gave us great products and advice to help with preventing future lice outbreaks. I have tried in the past to remove lice myself but it's impossible to get it all out. I would highly recommend coming here for a head check and lice removal! Super friendly staff too!!! read more

Not impressed with this place. I know how to comb out lice, but I can't see the back of my head when I do a comb out on myself. You have to section the hair and really comb through it. On my first visit I was in and out within 30 minutes. 30 minutes! (I realize my hair is short and I had a mild case as I had already treated myself and was doing my own comb outs days prior to coming here.) They were not thorough at all. On my 2nd visit, it was the same way. In and out. Place looks clean, but the aprons they wrap around you smell horribly, like they were left wet for too long. Staff is super friendly, but once they have your money, they don't schedule you during operating hours...unless they have other clients before or after you. So even though my 3rd visit for a comb out was paid for (it's included in the price of the second visit), I couldn't get scheduled at a time I needed because they had no other clients around my requested time during their posted business hours. read more
