This place is not worth the heartburn, despite the "original character" of the building - the…read moreoverall experience leaves little to be desired. I recently moved out of Commonwealth, managed by Leftfield Properties under duress; the management company, Left Field Properties violated the tenants right in not being able to provide me heat beyond a certain temperature and there was lack of compassion from management, Casey Hill. For starters, ALL tenants pay their own heat, air and water. That being said, a tenant has a right to have his/heat as cool or as warm as they desire. During the hot September month, I had no air and had to submit tickets and was provided fans. My vents blew out heat instead of air. In the winter, I had no heat and eventually, was provided electric space heaters as a temporary fix- the vents blew out cold air. After several technicians attempted to fix the problem, I was told my heat will most likely only go to 75 degrees, even on nights when the weather is a low of 20 and 30 degrees. Casey Hill, insensitively insisted that this was well within comfort and did nothing more than suggest more space heaters. Not only is this insensitive to a tenant who would need accommodations beyond that, but this is not a heat- controlled property, therefore, he is not at liberty to determine what is well within comfort for me or anyone else. As you can see from his feedback to the situation, customer service is not a top priority of Left Field Property. I was also told that the heating system could not be fixed and that for a year and at this point, space heaters were the best they could do to keep my place warm and I was offered two more space heaters. I declined having two additional space heaters as sleeping with 4 electric space heaters across a$1,779.00 a month apartment is completely unacceptable and not safe; and I am sure both the management and the development company are not doing the same in their own homes. In addition, it is not justified to pay a significantly high utility bill due to 4 space heaters running in order to keep my unit warm because the landlord could not do so. In the attached pictures, you can see from the thermostat and the space heaters that my unit, on different days from 66-73 degrees although I've had it set to 77 and even one time, 80 degrees. I have not been the only one and I have spoken with others in the building who also faced issues of heat going in and out. According to tenant's laws, if a landlord does not FIX problems such as heat, I have a right to withhold my rent, however, I continued to pay my full rent, on time. When I expressed my concern of passing an alley from the parking garage to the building (resident parking is NOT attached to the building) which contained a porta-potty line-up, it was ignored. It wasn't until I sent an email about a random man coming out of a porta-potty one night while walking from the garage that they were removed. The management seems to be reactive vs. proactive. Because of the things I faced, I was allowed to get out my lease and receive my full deposit, however, because I would not sign a document stating that I would not take legal action, Casey Hill is still charging me rent, although I no longer live there. The law states that any time a tenant has had to vacate a property due to the landlord's inability to FIX or REPAIR the dwelling, a lease agreement is null and void. Casey has had my access to the garage and building turned off, yet is still emailing me about rent being due and saying I abandoned the property. He was made aware I was leaving as he agreed on me leaving since my living situation was less than subpar, but because I did not sign his document to keep my mouth closed and to not take legal action, I am being penalized.

Such a great rehab of an early 1900 building . Super think concrete floors guaranteed to buffer the…read moresound of footsteps above you . They would need a sledge hammer to to get you attention . The doors are sturdy and elevators are fast. The streets surrounding this establishment is not busy and the views to downtown fireworks are going to be magnificent ! Looking forward to see what the common areas will look like .
