Me and my 7 year old just left here, we have been there a few times before and always had a good experience looking around. I bought
something while my son was deciding what to choose. He found a toy that was new in a box, however the battery inside was dead (there was a "press here" button you can press through the packaging that didn't work) the owner changed the battery and then tried to charge my 7 year old the full price of the toy plus the replacement battery. Luckily I overheard him asking for additional money for the replacement battery and intervened. After I explained that the toy was new and the price on the box should be the price of the toy, including a working battery, he pretended not to understand and became defensive. At that point I wanted to return my previous purchase, out of principle, but he kept trying to cheat me and give me the incorrect money back. Fortunately there were other parents around listening so after a few minutes he finally gave me my money back, minus 50cents. He said the 50 cents should be a tip because of the "trouble we caused". After explaining a tip would be ridiculous because he just tried to steal from a 7 year old, he finally gave me the 50 cents back and we left, never to return. We always prefer to support the small businesses over large ones, but when they try and cheat a child out of his pocket money that crosses a line. If you still want to support this business, make sure you're the one paying, not your child, and make sure your change is correct. read more
