I was honestly having a really rough day today. I wasn't even halfway done with work and I felt like I needed some food for a pick-me-up. Ever since moving to AZ I've been craving Hawaiian but haven't been happy with where I've gone. I took a chance ordered from one Hawaiian on Uber. I ordered a teriyaki beef bowl, a spam musubi , and a Dr. Pepper. I included specific directions about cutlery, napkins, and sauce. The timer went down quicker than I thought, and the food arrived early! As I grabbed the bag I immediately noticed the smell. Delicious. I opened the bag and it smelled even better. They included everything I asked for in my directions. The drink was ice cold and the food was nice and hot. As soon as I opened the beef bowl I knew this was going to be fantastic. Hands down the best teriyaki beef bowl I've ever had. The veggies were clearly cooked in with the sauce which made them extra yummy. The spam musubi was great, only thing it could've used was more sauce inside. The rice was perfectly cooked and the meat was tender. Extremely pleased with my experience here. Their sauce is lighter than I'm used to but still delicious. One Hawaiian BBQ made my day today and I'll definitely be coming back. read more

It's a comfortable place, a nice change from regular quick service, and the food tastes good. For about $13 you can get two main dishes (pork, chicken, beef, katsu, etc.) and everything comes with rice and a salad. It's too much to eat at one sitting, for mine they couldn't even get the lid closed all the way it was so packed. The katsu is good, it's probably the closest I've had to Japanese katsu in Arizona. The sauce is spot on. I usually get the fire chicken, spicy, but will probably try another meat next time. You get free refills, it's a clean place, and I've always found parking in front despite being next to Target. In fact I ate there first, then walked over to Target after with my car right in front which is a nice little bonus since it's close to the Target entrance. Something they can do better: They put the soda machine right next to the area for condiments and utensils, and it's a small corner. It really is like "1 person at a time" and they are making a lot of choices so sometimes you have to just stand there and wait. The restaurant has plenty of space so I'm not sure why they don't make it a bigger area. The staff really never seem engaged, but they're nice. I haven't had any food mistakes. I stopped by yesterday evening for the 1st time because they sent a mailer for a free Fresh Young Coconut. They cut this medium-sized fresh fruit all-around and cut open the top where the stem was where you could drink out of with a straw. I ordered to-go... I waited only a few minutes after placing the order inside at the counter. When my order was called, they handed me the coconut inside a thin plastic bag, which was not sufficient enough to contain a spill nor a straw at the same time. I had to especially request for another (shopping-type) bag to protect against spills. They accompanied me but should know beforehand to handle this time of order. Coworker and I decided to go to lunch and felt in mood for Hawaiian bbq. I've had Ono in the past at the location in Goodyear so knew what they have. I got the Hawaiian bbq chicken which came with good amount of chicken, scoop or rice and macaroni salad. Cabbage and couple of broccoli florets included. My coworker had the mixed meats combo. Chicken, beef and katsu chicken. It was her first time here and she enjoyed it. Overall staff friendly, all wore masks and place looked cleaned. My fiance & I found this spot one day as we were driving around. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the friendly staff. We told them we had never been here and they were so kind to help us look through the menu & they explained things we had questions about. My fiance got the terriyaki chicken & I got the seafood one with shrimp & fish. Both came with good size portions of rice & a hawaiian macaroni. I've been told from Hawaiian natives that you'll know if a Hawaiian bbq place is good if their mac salad is good....and Ono's was pretty solid. I moved from Hawaii to northern AZ 6 years ago and missed the food. One of my kids decided to move to Phoenix and as I was helping him move, I knew there was some Hawaiian restaurants in the area. I found a Ono Hawaiian BBQ near by and decided to give them a try. The 1st day I went there, I had the chicken katsu/ BBQ plate and that was ok. The 2nd day I went back and had Kalua pig and the chicken katsu plate and was very disappointed. They took a almost a half hour to get my food out to me and the Kalua pig was bland and one of the pieces of the chicken was ether very soggy or the breading was under cooked. I will assume it was soggy being that the rest of it was cooked properly. But will never eat here again! read more

Finally I get an ONO close by to me!! Super excited when I heard they were opening this location up in the Christown Mall Area. First off, yes there is a drive thru which is not right away noticeable if you're not familiar with the area. It wraps around the building/plaza it shares with other businesses. I was very pleased with the convenience, given I stopped after work and was just way too exhausted to have to get out the car. I ordered the chicken combo number 3. The girl working the drive thru almost messed that up because she re-iterated my order and called it the mixed plate? Or whatever the #4 was lol But it's the chicken combo (katsu & Hawaiian bbq). It come with a bed of veggies (cabbage & a lil bit of broccoli? A scoop of macaroni and 2 scoops of rice. (No drink.) just FYI. The price is a lil steep to not come with at least something to wash it down,in my opinion, but all in all the food tasted good. Not as good as I remembered, but good. I'd go back if I was in the mood for a lil Hawaiian bbq. I must say tho given the price it's a decent amount of food. I'd say enough to feed 2 with one combo. Of course only if you are a light eater. I didn't finish my plate. My one main complaint, I asked about sauce and the girl at the register said yeah there's teriyaki in the bag without offering the sauce for the katsu. Unfortunately I have to give this place 1star and that's just cause the food is good. Starts off with a cashier who doesn't great me as I stand there for a couple of min in front of her. Then She has attitude when asking if she can take my order. Like I'm bothering her. Unbelievable. Then they call my number and the guy who hands me my food puts it on the counter and walks away. So I stand there so I can ask for sauce and when I do he gives me an attitude. I ask for 6 katsu sauce and he hands me 3 and says you only ordered 3 katsu plates. I said we use 2 per plate and he told me no and walked away. Not offering any of the other sauces behind the counter either. It's completely obvious that based upon their customer service that they will shut down soon. Don't get me wrong here, the food is delicious. However, the service is horrible. Someone needs to be in here directly the late teenagers, early 20's kids on proper customer service. We literally just got home and something was left out of the bag for the second time in as many visits. From the last visit, they don't have any kind of log that takes complaints, so therefore, today I couldn't pick up what was left out last time. So I was told today to keep my receipt for what was left out. So I will see how this works next time if I visit. Please place a manager in the store that can deal with issues as these. read more

So good, nice fast casual Hawaiian. Is this super authentic? No! But is it yummy? Absolutely. All plates come with two generous scoops of white rice and some Mac salad. Def a carb heavy meal but so so so worth it. Pulled pork is tender and salty served over cabbage. My partner got the shrimp and chicken teriyaki and enjoyed every minute of it. I loved Ono Hawaiian but the service is terrible!! We pull up in the drive thru and no one is taking our order no matter how many times we say hello. So we pull up to the window and everyone is just sitting around chatting one worker sees us but ignores us. What is the purpose on ordering online or calling over the phone for an order. It has happens pretty much every time so far. I go there, and still had to wait another half hour! I hear them yelling out there order saying, order for blah blah is here! Oh hell no! I told them, I called and they said it will be ready in 15mins! I had high expectations for this place coming to the area. We finally made the trip over because we had a coupon we had received in the menu. The flavors were good. The staff was a little scattered but they were efficient they had to ask a manager to come over to answer one of my questions .The food only took a few minutes until it was ready. Hawaiian barbeque. The restaurant is not open for dine in. I ordered food for pick up and still had to wait 10 minutes. There was plenty of safeguards for employees and customers. The portions are large .. food was fresh . Pieces were cut large and is difficult to eat with plastic utensils. Ribs were fatty and delicious probably not good for me . We stopped to try this place after several times my husband said I need to go in there to see if it's any good! As he is from Hawaii and has been a little home sick and missing some of their local foods. Not exactly the same but This was pretty close. We were greeted with a wonderful Aloha from the cashier, Bernice. We weren't rushed to place our order, they have a large selection (I wish I would have been a little more patient to notice all the options that they had).
