My family has been coming to this location since they opened. The place is organized even though it's very high energy. Also, it's very noteworthy to mention, in relation to the real food and health scare recently the Cyclosporiasis (parasite) found in a lot of fruits and vegetables that we frequently eat that causes very serious harm especially to people with weakened immune system or weakened fighting ability to diseases. As concerned parents , my husband and I have been very careful in choosing places to get ready made food. So far Ono Hawaiian appears clean. The entrees are neatly assembled. We don't see ants or cockroaches on the floor. We don't smell foul odor anywhere especially in their outdoor trash receptacles. The staff are dressed properly and not look disheveled. We don't observe staff handling trash and subsequently handling food without washing hands and or not using proper protective equipment like disposable gloves. I'm not kidding. We have seen cooks in the restroom not wash their hands after use and went straight to preparing food. I've seen a restaurant staff handle the trash without gloves then prepared my sandwich in front of me without washing hands. Very unsafe practices that put all of us in danger. So far, we never see those unsafe behaviors in Ono Hawaiian. The Staff are also polite and greet us with a smile when we show up Which is definitely a plus. The food is hot when we order out and not cold or lukewarm. Very tasty and not greasy. The portion is great. The price is comparable. Ambiance is great. A decent spot for Hawaiian BBQ. Better than most franchises around Sacramento. I think this place comes down to preference more than anything. Ordered the Trio BBQ plate and the spicy chicken plate. Both lacked that Hawaiian flavor overall and the BBQ char, but it was decent. The beef was the star for me, while my partner did not like the spicy chicken at all, hardly touched it, but really enjoyed the Spam Musubi and the macaroni salad (which she normally hates from these spots). The spicy chicken just tasted like pure spices, almost like Indian food, but if it wasnt cooked down enough. Which is fine if thats your style, I am sure some people love it. Ono Hawaiian barbecue has been very reliable for fresh, tasty and reasonably priced food. I really enjoyed their Lava shrimp when it was offered and hope it comes back! Their Chicken Katsu continues to be a favorite of ours. The Island Fire Chicken is delicious with a medium spice level. The salad that comes with the Aloha plates is quite heavy on the red onions, and since I'm not a huge fan of red onions, I picked them out and enjoyed the salad much more without them. The portions are generous. There is self serve teriyaki and katsu sauce available too. There is ample parking and the seating indoors is clean and bright. I returned to One Hawaiian BBQ after receiving some coupons in the mail. I was very pleasantly surprised how friendly the staff were and what an excellent value it is. Next time I'm gonna get two entrées. Each entrée is very filling and a large portion size. I didn't mind the 10 minute wait as I was enjoying the Hawaiian music and felt like I was visiting the islands. I substituted yummy macaroni salad for the white rice. As a Hawaiian, I can appreciate the flavors and textures of their beef and chicken offerings. I typically hit them up and get a bbq mix plate and an extra scoop of Mac salad. Had it several times over the years at many different locations and the consistency is there. One and only draw back is the wait time to get the food. Not really their fault though because if it's cooked to order ya can't have stuff just sitting. Also wish their crab Rangoons were more crispy on the bottom once we get home. With dozens of locations in the greater Sacramento area, Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Phoenix metropolitan area, they've been the spot for some delicious, authentic Hawaiian food on the west coast ever since 2002. The location I am focusing on is in Rancho Cordova, CA. Located in a busy strip mall at 10841 Olson Dr., this Ono Hawaiian BBQ has been in operation dating back to the summer of 2019. Since I work in the Rancho Cordova area, I came here during my lunch on the afternoon of Tuesday 5/23/2023 at around 12:15pm. Parking can be busy during lunch time since this has always been known to be a crowded area most of the time. Upon entering, many tables were occupied with patrons dining in. There are several tables that seat up to 4 guests as well as a long communal table that can comfortably seat about 8. Furthermore, they offer a self-serve fountain drink area as well as a cooler that sells Hawaiian Sun canned beverages and bottled waters. Since I was in the mood for a filling lunch, I went with their "Hawaiian BBQ Chicken" plate lunch (for $11.79). This consisted of two very generous pieces of boneless/skinless chicken that is coated and sautéed in their signature teriyaki sauce complete with two heaping scoops of steamed white rice, macaroni salad, and a bed of veggies. Total time it took for my order to go through to when I got my food was roughly 10 minutes. Keep in mind that it was quite busy so if you're a limited lunch break, I would suggest calling in your order ahead of time. After making the quick 5-minute drive back to my office, I opened up the packaging and loved how generous the portions were. The chicken was seasoned well while the rice was fairly moist. Since I have been to other locations, I kind of had an idea of how their food tastes. I also enjoyed dipping the chicken into the included sauces; teriyaki and katsu. And for the price you pay, you're getting a large enough portion that can almost cover two meals. Overall, this location has above average customer service, spacious interior, and quick ready-to-eat food. With that said and done, I am giving the Rancho Cordova "Ono Hawaiian BBQ" an above average four stars. read more

It's made true to the typical Hawaiian mac salads that I've eaten in my lifetime. For the folks that need more flavor, just doctor it up with the condiments provided which included siracha. I also bought a can of Hawaiian Sun soda. Luv that stuff. The sodas are made using sugar and not HFCS. They come in a bunch of different flavors such as mango, passion fruit, and kiwi strawberry. They even had young coconuts. I was told that they don't always have those and when they do, they tend to sell out quickly. The cashier was terrific, I can't remember his name... I think it was Ashton. He had a great attitude, knowledgeable about the menu, and expedited orders out to customers quickly. Restaurants like Ono Hawaiian BBQ are places we get excited to try because it brings us back to our experience in Hawaii. From the food and drinks to the island music played in the background , it never gets old. We ordered the White Fish & Island Fire Chicken combo, 2 Spam Masubi's, and Chicken Katsu. It was about 4 pm on a Saturday with only one person before us and our meal still took a while to be served. These plates took about 20 minutes but guess we can confidently say our food is made fresh to order. We also got two Hawaiian Sun drinks which we can never find!! Strawberry Guava Nectar and Lilikoi Lychee, both delicious! My boyfriend enjoyed the White Fish but the Fire Chicken wasn't his favorite. He felt there was more spiciness than actual island or Hawaiian flavor. And for those wondering the spice was more of a back heat. Spam Masubi's had a drizzle of what may have been a teriyaki/soy sauce on the rice then stacked with the spam and seaweed. YUM! Wanted to try a new Hawaiian place since we were in the Rancho area and saw Ono's in the plaza next to KP market, so figured we would go try it! It was a bit of a wait, but they seemed a little busy. They have the sauces on the side for you to grab yourself, and other condiments if needed. I got the chicken combo mix as a meal, so it came with a rather large drink and a side, which I opted for the crab rangoons! The BBQ chicken was GREAT, tasted great, was not dry at all. On the other hand, the Chicken Katsu was eh, it was super dry, more breading then chicken, and honestly there wasn't even a lot of it. I had only took a bite of one piece when I took the photo before I forgot. The crab rangoons were also eh, they could have been a bit better. My husband got the Hawaiian BBQ mix plate. The size was okay, usually other places offers a lot when you buy plates. But my husband did say his plate was pretty good! We both liked the Mac salad a lot, which I'm glad since some places do not taste the same. I really was happy about that! On Thursday my boyfriend and I ordered takeout from this location for the first time. We were greeted by their sweet cashier Katelyne whom placed our order. We ordered the Ono Family Meal with Kalbi Short Ribs, Kalua Pork and Island Fire Chicken. The meal says it feeds 4 but it lasted us 7 meals, definitely a good bang for your buck!! Kalbi Short Ribs~ These ribs were meaty and marinated to perfection, our mouths are watering just thinking about these! My boyfriend wished we had more ha ha! Kalua Pork~ Roasted pig has been a favorite of mine since visiting Kauai as a child and it brought back some delicious memories! I enjoyed every mouthful! Island Fire Chicken~ Saucy, spicy and flavorful would be the best way to describe this delicious chicken! Macaroni Salad~ This was hands down the best Mac Salad I've ever had, sauced just right and incredibly flavorful! I went in for seconds! I've come here multiple times in the last few months, and every time it was on point! I always get the kalua pork rice plate, which is what I usually order at every Hawaiian bbq place I go to. My favorite kalua pork rice plate has always been at this location! It's always served hot, great portions, and I like that they include broccoli with it in addition to the cabbage that typically comes with it. Their Mac salad is good too.
