After thinking I had a great bank, I was in error. My debit card has been hacked 4 times in the last year and today OnPoint suspended my use of my debit card for 6 months, as if I were to blame. I'm always very careful when using my debit card and I don't have any control over my card being hacked. So I'm being punished because ? I will not go without a debit card for 6 months and I will be opening a new bank account which will be closer to where I live and will not prevent me from spending my money. I have been a member with OnPoint community credit union for several years now. Over the last 2 years I have been working hard trying to build and establish my credit. I went into my branch needing an automotive loan and talked with Stephanie Bradshaw about my options. I explained to her that my credit still had some "negatives" but was assured that we could work something out. Although still hesitant to take a "hard pull" on my credit score I went ahead an submitted the application. While the application was processed I was told my student loans were showing up as "default". I explained to her that all of my student loans were restructured and taken care of a year ago. She told me to send her proof of that and we could make something work. I eagerly went home and sent her an email showing all student loans current and out of default. The next day I received a call from her telling me my application had been denied and there was nothing else she could do for me in an extremely disrespectful and rude manner. (I even recorded the conversation to prove it) I understand the reason I was denied was because of MY credit. But I expect to be treated as a human being and not another mark for your monthly loan quota. High pressure sales tactics at a "credit union" make me sick. Stay away from these guys when it comes to any sort of loan! Dealing with Stephanie was worse than dealing with a HWY 99 lemon lot car salesman. read more

We've been members of OnPoint for decades, from when is was Portland Teacher's Credit Union. They are a great banking option for the little guy, I always feel they are looking out for our best financial interest and are not there to skim money off of us with sneaky banking fees. They have great options that have saved us lots of money over the years and we have even carried car loans and a mortgage with them. It's not very often that I feel compelled to write a review, but after our disastrous experience at OnPoint recently, I feel it is warranted. We originally became members in 2008 when we took out a home equity loan. We were so pleased that in 2010 we financed the purchase of a vacation home with OnPoint. A few weeks ago, with mortgage rates at all-time lows, we decided to refinance. Being loyal customers and members, we called them and began the process. I don't know what has changed internally with this organization in the last couple of years, but it is drastic and disastrous. Our loan officer was difficult to work with from the beginning. He was uncommunicative, sloppy, lazy and painfully incompetent. He talked incessantly about how busy he was and made us feel as if we were a nuisance in his day. We filled out the application online, gathered our documents and waited. After several days we finally got ahold of him and asked to make an appointment to bring in our docs, lock in the rate, etc. We made it clear we were ready to go and that we could come in at any time. He said any time was fine and suggested 3:00pm. During the appointment, he said it was too late in the day to lock in our rate. Fully aware that rates change constantly, we were not pleased and were confused why he would schedule us too late in the day to do this. He was unapologetic and we were forced to take our chances the following week. The next business day, we left several messages with him to do the rate lock. No return call. By the next day, rates had climbed and I was furious. If he had done his job, we would have been able to lock in the previous week and things would have been fine. But we decided to continue with the loan at the higher rate, even though it was going to cost us an additional $390 in closing costs, and we told him to lock in the rate. Our $970 deposit check was cashed and we waited for the call from the appraiser. A week went by and out of the blue we received a form letter from the processing department in Portland requesting more documentation. Unable to reach our loan officer - again - I called Portland and asked for clarification. Through the course of the conversation we discovered that we were NOT locked into our quoted rate and that our application had not been fully processed. I drove straight to our branch and waited to speak to him. I asked him point-blank if he had locked in our rate. He typed away on his keyboard and assured me that yes, everything was fine and that the people in Portland didn't have their stuff together. I asked for a printout confirmation of the rate lock and he said that he didn't have access to it, but would email it to me as soon as he got it. I was instantly suspicious. After another call to Portland and a conversation with his boss, it became clear that we had been manipulated and worse - he had lied to my face and cashed our check. Where was our $970 deposit if it hadn't gone to lock in our rate?? That alone must be a violation of banking laws. I wish I could say that this had been our only problem with him, but the list is long. But being lied to was a deal-breaker. Portland offered to set us up with a loan officer up there, but how can we trust a company that operates like this? It's apparent that their in-house communication and training is a mess. After another call to Portland, we demanded our account be refunded our $970. In the meantime, we've closed our account and are refinancing with another, trusted, local bank. We will never go back to OnPoint. read more

I've been meaning to do this for some time now, considering that the only 2 reviews for this branch are pretty negative. I started out with OP in Portland, but have been with the Eugene branch since 2011. I have no idea why more people don't rave about their experiences here. Mine (as well as my Husband's) are always positive and we've had just a super working relationship with them on several different matters. Some of the friendliest banking staff ever. I've recommended this branch now to LOTS of people and everyone that I know who uses it, loves it. Sorry that it didn't work out better for a couple of folks, but my recommendation stands. read more

I have accounts at a number of Eugene/Springfield banks and credit unions, and I have slowly merged them into Onpoint for their good service. I am a landlord, and I visit the Coburg branch frequently( the rent checks never come at the same time), and what they have done for me is terrific. What happened is I got the dreaded IRS audit letter. I didn't save all my statements over the course of 7 years and I HAD to have every one for this audit. When I made my plight known, and gave them a list of almost 40-50 statements needed RIGHT NOW, they worked overtime to generate them in Portland(thank you Stephanie) and had them in my hands within 48 hours. To say the least they saved my bacon big time. Their good service saved me thousands. So I want to say thank you to Sherry, Ann, Lindsey and Stephanie, all of whom work at the Coburg branch and are very pleasant to deal with. I also have a loan with these folks, and I feel that Sherry's depth of knowledge in this area is impressive. For me I am very happy. read more
