Imagine the horror: you go to check your phone which has been plugged in all night, and it hasn't…read morerecharged at all. Not one bit. After trying a few different cables (and I'm not sure exactly how I managed to acquire them), I was forced to accept the inevitable. My phone had turned into an expensive brick. I checked into MKC in Melbourne's city centre after finding them online. My iPhone had stopped recognising when it was connected to recharge, so I took it in and was told it'd probably be either the battery itself or the dock that accommodates the cable. The conversation went like this: Me: Hello. My iPhone is a brick. MKC: What's wrong with it? Me: (Explained what was wrong with it). MKC: Oh. That'll probably be the battery or the cable dock. Me: Can you fix it? MKC: Probably. Give us an hour and $79. 60 minutes later, I was handed back a fully operational, functioning phone. Brilliant. Staff were friendly and straight-talking. I was happy with the price. I hope I don't have to visit again, but if things go sideways, MKC will be my first port of call.

I bought a charger cable and portable power bank from this chain of stores around three weeks ago…read more Both failed very quickly under normal everyday use. The cable frayed and stopped working, and the power bank only charged my phone to about 70% despite being sold as capable of multiple full charges. Trying to resolve it was far worse than the faulty products themselves. The staff member argued with me about the product specifications, repeatedly demanded a receipt (which I provided), then shifted to blaming me for not using a cable protector -- something I was never told I needed, and which the store doesn't even sell. When I tried to de-escalate the situation and simply requested a refund, I was told she refused to serve me. That refusal also prevented me from accessing a separate screen protection guarantee I had paid for through the store, including replacement entitlements I'm supposedly covered for. Head office has ignored emails, and the listed phone number just redirects to an automated bot telling you to email again. There appears to be no practical way to contact an actual person. Faulty products happen. Refusing service to a customer who is calmly trying to resolve the issue is the part that crossed the line for me. I would avoid this store if you expect basic consumer rights or after-sales support to be handled professionally.
