This place is 5 stars all the way! Very unassuming from the outside but I heard of it through a friend who knew that I might be in Lyon while I was touring France. I was told that you have to make a reservation which I did. No walk-ins. It is run by a husband (chef) and wife (server) team. I love places that have a chef's menu which this did. It narrows down ones decision-making so much, plus it means not too many items on the menu which is good. The server started us out by giving us an appetizer (on the house) of cuttlefish tar tar which was delicious. My starter was the marinated veal, eggplant hummus/smoked herring/mint and mustard, fried Barbadian paste, caper sorbet/coriander. So many interesting and complimentary flavors combined to form a culinary masterpiece! Next was the Pollack fish in crispy biscuit, artichoke, parsley/curry pesto and citrus zest broth. For dessert, one of the choices was some special cheeses made by the chef, but since I had been eating so much cheese since coming to France, I chose the red fruits in marmalade, blancmange with tumult pepper, tarragon juice and hibiscus sorbet. Everything was amazing! I don't think I've ever tasted so many flavors in once setting. All of them were complimentary to each other and the whole experience was amazing. Our server was wonderful and patient with us. She wanted to make sure we enjoyed everything. I would definitely come back here if I was in France again, and if I were not staying in Lyon, it's worth a train ride there just to sample this wonderful food again. read more
