We were shopping in the area for Polish pottery (why else would you come to this city?) and were told that this place has great pierogi. Indeed, they were right! We had a great meal which included various types of pierogi, as well as beetroot soup and hunters stew. There are plenty of other hearty choices on the menu, all at reasonable prices. The decor is fascinating with lots of interesting stuff to look at in a cottage that is reminiscent of a log cabin. We would certainly eat here again. read more

A lovely Polish restaurant! Named "Firewood Cottage" in Polish, it is decorated inside and out in that theme. The menu has a huge selection of regional and national Polish dishes. We had the beer root and dumpling soup, as well as the sour dough and sausage soup. Both were absolutely delicious! I had high expectations of the pirogie variety plate and it didn't disappoint. All- need, cheese and sauerkraut/mushroom were fantastic! The cheese cake for dessert was excellent as well. Our bill for two soups, two entrees, four drinks and two desserts was only $40 US. We stopped at Opatkowa Chata while pottery shopping in town! SO happy we did--the adorable exterior immediately attracted our youngest companion (age 7) and we felt obliged to make him happy. Fortunately for all of us, we were all very happy by the time we left! Between all four of us, we had some mixed pierogies and a polish version of apple pancakes...which were incredible. The service was excellent, the decor was charming and adorable, the prices were exceedingly reasonable, and the food was scrumptious. I can't imagine a better option is available in town to complement a fun day of finding treasures! read more

This is one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at. I've been 4 times at different trips for pottery shopping and it never disappoints. This is my second time here. The first time I shared an amazing sampler platter with another person. It was so good. This time the menu was pared back quite a bit. We asked about what we got last time and I guess they are restricted in what they can make because of COVID so the menu is more limited. What I got was still tasty, but hopefully they can get back to their old menu soon. Bathrooms are always clean and easy parking. Seems to always have lots of locals which is a good sign. read more

We stopped here based on recommendations. The goulash soup was good, the lamb chops were good, but the spicy black goulash was bland, almost like a pot roast in gravy. I was a little disappointed. Otherwise, the atmosphere and wait staff was very nice. read more

They take Euro and credit cards. They speak English. Great variety of food and very delicious! I recommend the chicken and mushrooms, the Stuff cabbage or the pork chop with herb butter. Very kind and friendly to us Americans. The food was so close to the recipes made by my family in generations past. I had Galupsy (Russian for cabbage rolls). The pierogis were delicious, and the hot dark chocolate was a treat. Great place, comfortable and not stuffy. read more
