I read reviews of many in the area, Spangler BJJ was very close to my place and reviews were great so I went to check it out. I walked in and was really impressed with the welcome I received, how comfortable it felt and how clean the academy was. Those 3 things are very important to me. I am very glad I walked in those doors that day. Professor Spangler is very detailed and extremely patient. He has opened my eyes and mind so much. He has shown me that there is so much more than self defense BJJ. I am a bigger guy so learning things like spider guard and being comfortable with it is a huge for me. Professor Spangler goes out of his way to help tune a technique so that it suits either your body type or your flexibility limitations. Top notch. The class format is wonderful and class length is perfect. Just the right amount of technique drilling and rolling. Professor Spangler is a huge part in what makes this place wonderful but he is not it. The folks I train with are just amazing. Everyone has been wonderful from day one, I just can't thank them enough for the support in helping my Jiu-Jitsu game. Thank you everyone. Coach Spangler has been there for the children and adult for support, advice and coaching in tournaments. Classes are spread out in the day for adult before or after work; especially the afternoon class that's at the same time as the kids class so parents can take a class too. We couldn't ask for a better place for us to learn Jiu Jitsu. If you are ever interested, don't hesitate to stop by and ask for a trial; even if you question if this is the right fit for you or your child.

I was invited to a Birthday Party at Apex Yong- In Martial Arts and I was so excited to see how the…read moreparty would be structured and to my surprise it was absolutely amazing. When we first walked in we were greeted at the door we were asked to take our shoes off and given a cape + mask (the theme of the birthday party was superhero) we were running a little behind, so when we arrived the Yong -In students were performing they did an amazing show for the kids. They broke boards, dance to a popular song that small children would like and performed some their moves this kept the kids attention. When the performance was over they allowed the children from the Birthday party to come on the floor. They taught them moves and taught them about Martial Arts. I was very impressed with the staff. One guy in particular that stood out was a young man who ran the activities for the kids. He was so attentive and very good with small children. The birthday flowed well and the entire family that worked there was involved. The place was clean and the bathroom was too. One of my favorite things was when they left the kids break a board and then they cut the cake with an actual sword. So cool. Overall this place is amazing and I think it would be the perfect place to host a party and attend class here if you can. Great staff + awesome atmosphere. The parking is great too as the martial art studio is inside of a shopping center.

Master Chang's is unprofessional at handling any issues. I was told I could change my membership at…read moreanytime, and believed it. However, upon trying to place my classes on hold, I was made aware of a "cancellation fee." This was the first I'd heard of such a thing, so I asked for clarification. I would have to pay 25% of a "12 month commitment." I was only cancelling because they had made a drastic change to the time of the class, and I had chosen this location specifically because of that time. When I explained this, I was told that this was "neither here nor their because" the gym "reserved the right to change any and all class times." I cannot imagine who in the world can commit to 12 months for a 4-year-old when the school can bait and switch you with times whenever they would like. Now, they are refusing to speak to me, but they continue to take my money and bill my credit card even though they claimed we could at least hold. They are forcing me into a position where my only recourse is a legal one. Looking into other reviews now, I see that I am not the only person who has had this experience, and I wish I had known that they are so unscrupulous in advance of attending. The classes are very expensive. They like to hide this informationYou should expect to pay at least $164 per month, plus a joining fee, plus a minimum of an extra $30 every other month for belt testing for a disorganized and overly loud 30ish minutes of class. Also, the space is very hot in the summer, so you should expect to shell out more money so your child can wear a t-shirt in class during the warm weather. They only allow Master Chang's branded t-shirts in class. The children are also not adequately distanced. The location is right beside a toy store that always has toys on display outside, so you know, enjoy saying "No, I'm not buying you a toy" every time you enter and exit.  I have much more I can say, but I have a small child to attend to. I don't know how I could possibly  take my child here after finding out they have such aggressive policies. I wish I had known this before signing up, and I feel terribly guilty for convincing others to join. I hate to write long reviews, but I feel now that I need to make up for getting a friend locked into this situation by sharing my personal experience.
