Conducted First Episcopal Service in Shreveport March 24, 1839. St. Paul's Church Formed 1845. Renamed Grace Church 1851. Renamed St. Mark's 1859. St. Mark's Relocated 1954. Holy Cross Organized 1954." Unfortunately, the church was closed at this time but I did have the opportunity to appreciate it from the outside. It's quite lovely. As the downtown area continued to decline in population and commerce, the Episcopal Church has responded to a call to minister to those people who have made their homes in the neighborhood: homeless people, people living on the edge of poverty and indigent people with HIV-AIDS. Today their primary ministry is to our homeless neighbors, serving them in Holy Cross' day shelter, Hope House. They continue to partner with other churches and individuals to serve the poorest of the poor in Shreveport and Bossier City.

This is a really nice, unconventional, non traditional small church that is really nice. They do…read morehowever need a lot of help with updating their bathrooms and the interior but for those who are not worried about that, will love their service. They're not worried about the time they spend with each other. They're more concerned about learning about God. It was really enlightening to have a pastor stop and answer a question in the middle of his preaching. Never saw that before. Sunday school was special too. It went on till everyone had a good understanding of the lesson. Then the preaching went on to pick up from there. Again, something new! It's a church that doesn't worry about the time, they're concerned that you got something out of the service. And it relates to what we go thru throughout the week! Imagine, a sermon that relates to what we go thru every day! Hmmmm. Me thinks other churches should pick up on that thought. Come check it out with me next week. Inside gets pretty crowded depending on which service you go to so I suggest getting there a little early. The do have multiple functions throughout the year for the family which I really love.
