I have had the pleasure of visiting this facility many times, Mr. Bushnell and his staff treat every resident there like they were their own family. They also have a floor that provides skilled nursing as well, and their staff is warm and caring and attentive to each residents individual needs. If they'd let me, I'd move in myself! SO, as the saying goes, be nice to your kids-they'll be picking your retirement home for you- just make sure they pick Maple Heights!

I say somewhat because they seemed to be understaffed for the amount of residents on a floor. There were usually 2 per side of hallway (I think). If our loved one was requesting something over and over and over and over again, we had to hunt someone down for it. Granted, I understand that attention isn't going to be *snaps finger* an instant, but there were times we'd have to wait and wait and wait for a change or for her to be taken to the bathroom. We could tell that the staff also learned the residents and realized when they *really* needed something vs. when they thought they needed something or vs. when they just wanted to ask for things just for entertainment. Overall, the people were nice and related to us on a personal level. There were ones that we shared conversations and smiles with and that's important when someone else is caring for your loved one. They were good for maintaining positive relationships.

These people are trapped there and they have to eat what they're given. It's not at a restaurant where you just won't go there if it's bad food. ;( Lots and lots of phones ringing without anyone answering is the real frustration. There were caring staff…read moremembers, however many of the staff give the impression that interacting with the family is a bother. I found my elderly loved one soaked in urine. Their meals were brought to them yet. They were unable to adequately reach their meal, leading to them having more food on themselves and in the bed, than they were actually able to consume. The response time to the call bell often exceeded 25 to 30 minutes. I often left feeling sad.

Had to get my Doctor involved, to find out they were not able to make it. When they did come out the professional nurse they sent acted like a new nurse. Seeing an issue backed off and was freaking out, they should not freak out in front of the client they are working on. A different home care is better and any nurse would be better then this company. Talked to a few professional nurses and they said, "this one has never worked in the er, a new nurse that got a cushiony job hoping for easy work."

Our family member stayed there for a few weeks, to get better with rehab and it was a complete fail. She was left in her bed majority of her stay, and they left the catheter in the whole stay until day of her release. And upon release, she stated to staff. that she needed to use the bathroom, and after they ignored her, and then with a soiled diaper, they put her in the wheelchair, and wheeled her out to the lobby door, with no help assisting what so ever, so if you have a love one in need of help, go to another facility, and some people may say that these facilities are short staffed, and I say, theres no excuse. What a complete and sad fail.

So their bed was alarmed. The one next to her pretty much mute. The other two in other states of need. The nursing staff and CNAs and everyone not in management try their best. But it's a listing ship and all hands have to be on deck. Not in their offices.
