The worst internet provider they are so bad they lock you out of your own modem so you can not log the signal levels to prove the my are terrible! I purchased commercial network gear so I can finally log my WAN port outages and it goes down 15-30 times per day which is way below any typical internet SLA they should be ashamed of themselves for charging over $100 month for service that is not stable for over 7 years! The technicians that come to repair intermittent issues also have no idea how to view and interpret a log file and also do not have access to the modems service logs!!! Give them no stars. I tried to see why my mother's acct is $317. She is 82 years old on hospice . I have power of attorney over her finances. Told them this they still would not talk to me. They wanted me to have her call. To say they can talk to me. I went to the store in gateway and that person was just as rude. Telling me to go get my mother's drivers license and back. Went there after seeing a promotion they were running to get free Iphone 17 Pro. I told them I was happy with Verizon as my provider but interested in the new phone. Gave my info & Chris salesperson told me my phone qualified. I told him ok but I want the 512 & he told me only comes 265. I told him I can't use that. The he told me that the iphone 17 Pro Max comes with 517 and I asked him if I can get the same deal as their promotion for the iphone 17 Pro & I'll pay the difference. I told him to give me the actual break down for my payments told monthly I would have to pay. I informed him from the very beginning that I was on a fixed income & I can only pay a certain amount. He told me for the service $15.00 a month for 1 Year & after goes to $45.00. For the Iphone Pro Max 512, I would have to pay approximately $5.75 a Month & I have to pay the taxes approximately $100.00 if complete the transaction today. I told him if this is the final amount, I can do it & I want the phone in Blue. He then went to the back but came out without the phone stating that they don't have it there but that they would check other stores. supposedly he checked other stores & they didn't have it but that it was scheduled to be shipped to them on 10-22-25. So he then proceeded to transfer my account from verizon to optimum and that we'll take care of transaction of the phone when I receive it on the 22nd. I specifically asked him that I'm still getting the same deal on the 22nd as we agreed to today, he replied yes. He then gave me his Phone number. He never called me on 10-22-25 & I called him but he didn't pick up. He finally texted me at 3:44 PM stating that he wasn't in the store that day. I called him on the 10-23-25 10:44 AM, he told me he was busy. (Fast forward) He called that he had the phone. When I went in it was the IPhone 16 Pro max which wasn't what I ordered. Lucky, I noticed the color was different. Jumping ahead again, I finally went back & he had another phone but this time it was 265 Iphone 17 Pro Max which was not what I agreed to. When I stated complaining about the amount, he stated now was totally different than he quoted me back on 10-11-25. He told me if I had anything in writing. I told him that he was "fucked up" which I try to reframe from ever talking that way in public. I had him write me on a piece of paper the numbers. I requested for him see if he could get me the 517 iphone Pro max at that point any color. Then I left. After I got home I wanted again to make sure that what he wrote down on a sheet of paper was right and that I understood it correctly I texts him, to please send me the actual numbers to make sure I was correct, so I don't waste my time again. He still hasn't reply back. They have you sign things without being able to read what you're signing in advance. They are nice to you until you sign the paperwork. Get everything in writing & read it (if you can) before you sign. They say one thing but they do another. As soon as I can I'll be taking all my business away from optimum. Shame on me for allowing a sales person talked me into trying out optimum /altice service. Sales person stated, if you don't like the service for whatever reason, cancel within 30 days and you will not get bill at all. The service is just not consistent. We can get pictures from Mars, but yet, I cant get a steady line (streaming) and the land line is just as bad. A few extremely unpleasant zoom calls to say the least. Anyhow, cancellation was easy, but a few months down the road, I'm still fighting my charges. Shocking. Well, due to the snow storm, a wire that is label "Altice" was down and currently on the street. Verified by Verizon and power company that altice should cut their wires, but after 3 days, still no dice. This is just another reason to please stay away from this company. #optimum #liars #altice So, here is the latest in my cable saga. I am writing this as I am standing 6 feet apart in Newark NJ at the closest Optimum Store open today. This started when I wanted to have a box installed in another room. I called Optimum and gave them the request. The sales person up sold me on Altice, after pushing the mobile service which doesn't accept my phone, but that is another story, I said ok to the Altice install. REMEMBER I WANTED 1 BOX INSTALLED. TO RUN A CABLE FROM THE ATTIC TO THE FIRST FLOOR. THIS WAS REPEATED MANY TIMES. A service appointment was made for July 24 between 8 and 11. The tech shows up at about 8. Be still my foolish heart. The first thing I notice about Wallace (the tech) is that he is wearing a mask. Nice. But when asked about booties, he says he doesn't have any and do we have them. We said no, then he magically made the booties appear. Next, we review what he is there to do. WHAT WAS THE PRIMARY REASON FOR THE APPOINTMENT? INSTALL A NEW BOX. Wallace says that Optimum does not run wires in the house. SURPRISE!!!! We have to hire an electrician. After being taken aback, we went ahead with changing over from the Samsung boxes to Altice as we'd been told that the new speeds, etc would be better. I said we should call Optimum to get this straightened out. He said a call would cancel the appointment and he would have to leave. Thinking he knew what he was talking about we didn't call. Wallace said he would set up everything and show us how to use the new equipment. He switched all the boxes. Well almost. He took the Samsung and plugged in the Altice. No box was working. He says that it will take time to get all the boxes working. After some time, when they still weren't working, Wallace said that Altice is having a problem. That it will resolve shortly. When expressed that this was unacceptable, he said nothing. He did linger around for some unknown reason. Like he was waiting for money to finish the job. Not that we haven't given something in the past, but you need to do the job first. EXTORTION? An aside, Wallace never entered the removal of my old Samsung boxes into their system. It now shows that I have 12 boxes. Incompetence? Lazy? Scam? Take your choice. After waiting a little longer we called Optimum for help. The first thing they said was "go to the big box". Well Wallace never installed one. So WTF???. No internet, no TV, what are we? Are we living in the dark ages? 1970 anyone? The call continued. To set up the install of what should have been done we got an appointment the next day. Or so we thought. Again INSTALL 1 NEW BOX, RUN THE CABLE TO THE NEW ROOM. Saturday at around 930 the second tech shows up. He is not wearing either a mask or booties. Also no booties in his possession. When I ask him exactly what he thinks he is supposed to do, he replies "FIX THE CONNECTION PROBLEM". Well I tell him that is incorrect. That he is to install 1 box and switch out the Altice boxes. He said his work order didn't say that. He doesn't have any of the boxes to install. He leaves. I call Optimum again. I speak with John Johnson of Optimum sales. Why sales? Because if you say at the time of the call you want service, you will wait until well forever. If you say sales, you get someone on the phone right away. I go through the story again. John tells me his notes and also that they (Optimum) do install new boxes in rooms. Even running the cable. SURPRISE. But he can't get me anyone to install or help today. I say that I will exchange the boxes. He agrees that that is the only way I can even get a box today. So off to Newark as every other Optimum store is closed. I go and exchange the boxes. Upon returning home I call Optimum again to arrange the install. They try again to upsell me Altice both in house and mobile. I have zero faith and the mobile service doesn't work with my phone. Please stop trying to sell me more stuff when the items I want cannot be provided. The person says that the only appointment is next Saturday. I had him repeat what I want done. He said install a new box including running the cable. He said there are different installers and that he is sending the right one. We shall see. To recap, Optimum Sales will tell you anything. Whether it's a lie (yes we install even run cables), or misinformation they are told, is unknown. Technicians, at least some, are looking for the fastest way out and or a little something extra to do their job. Wallace didn't even provide all the necessary equipment to utilize the products. He also didn't properly set up the new system, as he said he would. Optimum wants to charge you for everything, even if it's their fault. All I keep hearing is 80 dollars for install, 11 dollars for a box. Never once "We messed up, we will not charge you to correct our mistake". We now wait until next Saturday for the update. read more

While Optimum probably provides excellent internet in other towns, it is terrible in my Edison home. The service is often unstable with frequent downtimes. It will work for a short period before having no network for a half minute. Sometimes, there is no network service for a few minutes. This might not sound bad, but I work remotely and I need connection to a remote server. These downtimes mess up my connection. I need total stable internet service for my job. And despite several attempts by Optimum, they still fail to provide the service I need. Shame they have a monopoly in my area. If I lose my job due to Optimum, I might try suing them. read more

The only reason I had optimum was because it was the only company I could get in my area. They jack your bill up and when you call to discuss it they "think they can run you in circles" they try to confuse you with the bill but if you have even a small education they cannot. The customer service is awful. My bill for one month without adding anything like buying movies is $366 with $0 past due. That is ridiculous!! I live in a small apartment. This company is the worst.. may cable went out 48 hours ago.. I called and they said oh we are working on lines. It will be back up by noon. Then at 12. They said no line is down. Then at 4. They said no line is down they are working on line. Finally ar 8pm. They said I dint know where you got that info from but it's only your line. Maybe construction next door we will send a tech tomorrow. I took off from work. Waited from the 10 till 200pm window no one showed. I called and they said no you r 2 till 8pm at 802. I called again and they said we denied the tech entrance to our house so he left.. HE NEVER SHOWED UP. after being lied to for 48 hours and missing 2 days of work. They now tell me the earliest appointment is 2 days from now.. I ask for a supervisor. ALBERTO. he refused to give me his last name.. ps I have all the call center names. Noticed that they are now charging an Network Enhancement fee for my internet. This fee is to upgrade their infrastructure. Definitely a scam and shady practice by Cablevision/Optimum online as this should be incorporated into the monthly service plan and not as an additional fee. read more

If I could give them less than 1 star I would. From day one it started all wrong 1st appt for service no one showed up, 2nd appt they came later than promised time. After the connections and reviewing the DVR features and service it doesn't do certain things that other company DVR does. So a few weeks later I called because of a storm I had no service you think they offer me credit for the day of being out of service..NO! their customer service has no compassion and didn't try helping with a bill credit.
