Like other reviews, my children's primary is top notch, best of the best, but the corporate structure of Optum is a mess. This isn't just to vent, there is a serious problem with billing and customer service. The billing department is unable to process insurance, and they keep doing so incorrectly. This can be a hassle with insurance, that is fairly normal, but between two different insurance companies, and multiple corrections and confirmations made to both Optum and multiple forms of insurance, unfortunately, the bill keeps arriving with no changes to the billing at all. This is such a problem that all trust in their system is lost. Customer service (who is a corporate outsource) purposely misrepresents the state of their billing by confirming items that immediately afterward my insurance reports are not present or billed correctly. In the age of internet exposing call center scams, you begin to wonder if the number you're reaching is just a clever scam center with access to your medical data, and with all of the comprehensive corporate leaks that we do know about, you don't feel safe giving any money to anyone anymore. It's really that bad. Calling them to figure out what's going on is basically just taking your time and lighting it on fire in the front yard and hoping the angels appreciate your offering. Optum maintains that this is not their issue, that insurance must have some sort of problem. My insurance is so tired of hearing from me that they decided to reach out to Optum directly. Optum has not changed the bill, nor have they changed the billing process. These bills are going on a year old, and there has been no progress. I am to the point where I have reconsidered whether or not we need single payer, and I am start to understand why Luigi did what he did, I'm not saying I endorse it, but I understand. read more

My provider used to be called New West Physicians but changed to Optum last year. I went in for my 'free' Medicare Wellness exam in January and was charged $141.00 for my visit. According to Optum customer service my doctor discussed something out of the ordinary with me that resulted in the charge. I wasn't prescribed any additional tests or referred to a specialist for further examination so I'm really at a loss as to why I am being charged this additional fee. read more

I have been coming here for years. Maybe it's time to find a new primary. Second year in a row that my lab order was not given to the in-house Labcorp clinic. Had to wait in line until someone said there was no lab order for my annual wellness exam. Then had to stand in a different line to have someone print out my lab order. Spent an hour here when it used to take 15 minutes. Don't get me started on the new automated check in system. Many people checking in were having problems checking in. read more

I am torn about writing this because I like my doctor. But their customer service is horrible. We're getting notices that we owe a co-pay. However, we already paid it and have the receipt. I called them, then went to the phone tree for questions on payments. I pressed option 4 as directed. Instead of being able to connect with someone, I had to listen to several minutes of options on how to pay if I lived in Utah, certain clinics in New Mexico, other clinics in New Mexico, if the bill was prior to 2024, and so on . . . and on and on. I was never given an option to actually speak to someone despite the prompt that I could. I called appointments to see if they could steer me in the right direction, but the person said she couldn't do anything. The icing on the cake was the after call survey. It asked that I rate the call using a scale of 0-10. I chose zero, and I was told that wasn't a valid choice. read more

I love my provider and it pains me to give only a 2 ** rating due to the slack customer service received at the reception counter in the lobby entry. I arrived at my appointed time and the two women behind the desk had their faces buried in their computers, neither of them were on the phone with anyone, nor were there any patients ahead of me at either of their stations. I waited over a minute at the check-in "Wait Here" point, then wondering if I even needed to wait there since I had previously completed the online check-in prior to my arrival. When I asked if I needed to continue waiting, one of the ladies blurted out with a rudely brisk, "Just wait. I'm busy." .... AND STILL WITH NO EYE CONTACT OR COURTEOUS WORDS SPOKEN, such as a, "Good morning! I'll be right with you!" Mind you, this was the third time I came for my appointment over the course of 3 weeks, only to find out the two previous times AFTER MY ARRIVAL!!, that it had been canceled by my provider due to personal reasons. Soooo, not sure who the office manager is, at this location, but they need to get their act together and replace or retrain the two ladies at the entry point. I'm seriously considering changing my provider services to another more competent location. read more

This place is a joke. They cannot and will not bill your visit to insurance. They will claim you do not have insurance to begin with. Even after you personally call your insurance before every single visit to make sure everything is correct. Their insurance house lab is also unable to bill insurance. Save yourself the trouble and the heartache and go to a facility that is competent in their practices. read more

My husbands appointment was supposed to be at 10am today. He checked in at the front desk at 10:03 am and he was advised that Dr Hemsworth had canceled his appointment at 10:02 am and labeled him as a no show! What? Are you kidding me? He just had a Cervical Laminectomy and a fusion of C3,C4,and C5. He was supposed to see Dr Hemsworth for a follow up visit after being released from the hospital 5 days ago. He has been a patient with Optum for 10+ years and before that when it was called colorado springs health partners and he has never had so many problems or been treated so poorly. We are definitely going to be looking for a new provider. read more

This location has the rudest receptionist, teddy. Felt very rushed, and no "your welcome " or "thank you" she was very cold and when I didn't understand she made a nasty comment. Won't be coming here again! read more

Doctors and staff are honestly nice and somewhat helpful in terms of visits. However, I'm giving it 1 stars because of the time it takes to get seen and the time it takes to get medication resolved. I was without asthma medication for 2 weeks because they couldn't figure out how to prescribe the medication even when they have it in their notes. Then I started going through the same thing again after a month and wasn't getting the medication. The insurance/ pharmacy had sent the necessary information for the office to resolve the issue but no one looked at it and when I called, they told me that I needed to figure it out with the insurance or that the pharmacy needs to let them know what to do. Then he spent some extra time looking at my file after I told him I wasn't going to call anyone else because they have the information or can get it. After looking in my file, they podiums the information that they needed to get my medicine approved and to help get my medication. I don't the reason behind this type of neglect towards a patients needs for medication but I won't be going to this office again. Also every time I get seen, I wait 20 min before my appointment and in the last visit I had, my appointment was 20 min long per their patient portal, but they charged me and my insurance for a 39 min appointment with the doctor, per my insurance. So just be careful what you're paying for their and if you need certain medication on time, you might want to look for another doctors office. read more

Dr Kristel Cronin and her MA Karen at the Optum Southwest office are superb clinicians and compassionate people. They do everything possible to get me in when I'm ill. Dr Cronin's ability to see through the clutter and give me the help I need is second to none at Optum. She will also do the yearly exams women need, something most of her male counterparts won't do. I'm very happy I switched and put my health care in her hands. She is one smart Doctor! Thank you Karen for all of your help too. I am very grateful. read more

I wish I can give this company no stars. My daughter goes to see Kelly Price, which no longer will happen after the bad experience. Last year during her annual physical Kelly was aware that my daughter saw a psychologist and made a note of this in her file. Told me that if she ever needed medication that I can follow up with her, but at that time I said no. seeing the therapist was fairly new and I was not going to give her meds. After a year and some of seeing the therapist her psych decided my daughter should be on anxiety meds. So i called Optum ped for Kelly price since last Monday, 1/24 to get the someone will call you back every day I have called. NO ONE CALLED ME BACK! I had to call back almost daily to get follow ups. Then they tell me that they want to see my daughter for ADHD? I spoke to her psychologist and she never said anything about ADHD so she is not sure where this is coming from. I told the office that my daughter does not need ADHD medication, and now they are telling me they need to see her in person because they need to make sure she doesn't? really? cause the psychologist she has been seeing for over a year, would not be able to get that? the doctor who will see her for 30 min will be able to make that decision? That makes a lot of sense, NOT. I will never recommend this place to anyone or Kelly Price. Now I need to find another primary care for my daughter because of the crappy service offered at this center and have to have my daughter deal with her anxiety. I refuse to take her in to be seen by someone who is not a psychologist/psychiatrist and to let her analyze her for 30 min to see if she can dope her with pills for something she does not need and to have to pay for a $130 visit to tell me she is going to need medication for her anxiety. read more

I took my seven month old daughter to the pediatric office to be seen for a well visit. We just moved here from Michigan. It turns out that this facility will not see or treat patients that refuse to get their children vaccinated. Therefore this institution does not believe in your right to choose what goes into your child's body and they believe they know better than you. I am actually astounded that this is legal in the United States. I have a history of sensitivity to vaccines, these people are out of their minds if they think they have any right to supersede my informed decision regarding the vaccination of my children. read more

I normally do not write reviews but I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with this location/service. The 2 stars are for the reception and lab staff. I will never return to their OB/GYN department. They are very disorganized and condescending. As a RN in the medical field I would expect much more from a company. I had to call several times over two days to get the results of my STAT blood pregnancy test that was supposed to be back in 2 hours. No urgency at all, they treat you like a number not a patient. The only way I am still with this practice is because of Dr. Evans.? He moved across town to the other location so it is harder for me to get out there and see him. So a few times I went to the one close to my house and saw a Doctor Who was not welcoming at all when he walked into the room and I told him I was having pains in my stomach and pointed to where and that I thought it may be my gallbladder. So without any tests done he scheduled an appointment with a surgeon to have my gallbladder taken out. ???? And when he walked out of the room he did not say bye or anything at all so I thought he was going to come back in. After sitting there for a while I walked out and ask the receptionist where the doctor was and she said he is in with a patient and that I am done. I left extremely upset and there has been several episodes after that with other doctors in that practice that is just shameful. It takes forever for them to get back lab results , call backs, or any kind of information out of them. The customer service team when you call are wonderful and so is my doctor. Outside of that this medical group is a complete mess since they changed from CSHP. Oh how I miss CHSP!!!!! They need to get on it because they are losing a lot of patients. Assigned a Dr. but after initial visit serious follow up issues were referred to, and addressed only by, a PA. Very bad commination and repeated requests for a consultation with primary care Dr were referred back to PA's. I do not recommend this Medical Center. read more

I like my doctor, Dr Stengel, but other than that I have nothing but problems with Davita. Call wait times are too long (usually over 20 min), and the radiology department is totally incompetent. They sent me for the wrong MRI, so I had to get a second one. They couldn't provide images to my doctor due to their technical issues, and so I had to make a separate trip to collect a CD from their office. Waited over an hour for the CD but nobody would see me. I've now spent several hours waiting for MRIs and follow up and still unable to be treated due to their I competency. I will avoid using them for anything in the future. read more

THINK TWICE BEFORE STARTING A MEDICAL RELATIONSHIP W THIS FACILITY. MY FATHER WAS GIVEN A FLU SHOT WHICH I BELIEVE ATTRIBUTED TO HIS DEATH. There is no way I can prove this, but the staff should NOT have pressured him the way they did. These people do not know or understand empathy at ALLL. The few times I could tolerate an appointment w my dad I was utterly disgusted by the way these people work. If you have an elderly family member please do not let them join CSHP. The stories of terrible service are endless and I don't have time or the heart to rehash via yelp the crap this institution put my family through. Dr. David Smolev is an excellent primary care doctor. He listens well and spends the time necessary to explain a medical problem, answers all questions and provides a thorough diagnosis and follow up plan. He helped me taper off of two drugs I no longer wanted or needed. One was a sleeping pill. I feel much better since and have more energy. My husband has had a number of health issues and Dr. Smolev remembers and follows up on past problems as well as taking care of current issues when we visit. He has a great deal of knowledge and seems to keep up with all of the latest research available. I highly recommend him. read more

I called to make a same-day urgent appointment due to breaking my ankle, and hoped to be able to see my doctor. He was unavailable, so I settled for a PA. I arrived on time, and it took the front desk a little while to get me checked in. By the time she remembered to check me in (she acknowledged to me that that she had forgotten), it was past the 7-minute window they allow, and they refused to see me stating I was late and the PA had gone to lunch. Of course, they allowed me to hobble across the building with my cane before they informed me of this. When I attempted to explain that I was on time they told me I'd have to go to urgent care and they couldn't help me. I would have gone to urgent care to begin with had I known I'd be treated this way. I have never been treated with such lack of compassion or understanding, and nor did the staff acknowlege their mistake. I will be finding a new doctor, not because I don't like my doctor but because I will not support a business who treats people this way. It's inexcusable to me. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. This was my second visit to a Davita clinic and it was just as horrible as my first. I arrived for my appointment 15 min early to make sure I was checked in on time, I was not seen until 40 min past my scheduled appointment time. This was how it was at my first visit as well. I scheduled for my annual to have all of my forms filled out for insurance. When I got there the nurse and the NP both told me they would rather just bill it as a Medical record visit since all they were doing was filling out my form once I had my labs done. I told them I booked it as my annual so it would be a covered visit under preventative but they told me billing it this way would be better. So after waiting an hour to be seen I sat in a chair while they took my waist circumference and then I was off to labs. Only to receive my bill for insurance for $150 for the so called form filling out time. When I called billing they said there is nothing they could do. This is why I BOOKED my appointment as my annual, they decided to change it because they said it would be better for me. I just don't think they wanted to take the time to do a full visit as it was obvious they were way behind that day. I must mention my first visit at Davita for my well women's took over 2 hours.... I have already found a new doctor and will NEVER be returning. I have never been to such an unorganized medical facility in my life read more

For peace of mind, go elsewhere. They are a total rip off. The CSHP doctor I saw was inept, and the lab unprofessional. Totally unnecessary lab work. Business was slow and they needed the work. I am out $400 cash, and got no useful information whatsoever. If you think you need a surgeon, don't fall for the "you need a referral." You don't. Just keep calling other places. Thanks for your concern, Beth, it's absolutely refreshing and gives me some hope. But it was my communication with the Advocacy group that things went awry. The extra cost for urgent care deterred my decision because I know a specialized Dr was inevitable and necessary bbecause the injuries old and New were not going away and some getting worse after a month. I kept CSHP informed about this and inquired about the x-Ray with pitiful begging for help, because my appt I was told I would have them dome. Zilch was done and referral was delayed. This has been quite scary and disheartening. But I'm truly glad you cared enough to give me options. Tenderfoot location: I would suggest starting your health care in Colorado Springs elsewhere. We are new to the area and have had several negative experiences in just one short month. First off, the ladies who answer the phone are extremely rude, short on patience and inexperienced. CSHP would be wise in evaluating how they are perceived based on their telephone receptionists. We are a family of 6, so they are losing out on a lot of business. My son and daughter both had appointments there which went ok, but when I tried to set up an appointment for my husband they were insistent that since they had not ever heard of my insurance they could not proceed. I explained that our insurance had paid for other claims, but they did not give me the few minutes to explain that our insurance worked through the Aetna network. It is actually a very good insurance. Most of the patients that were checking in at our time of check in were medicaid patients and perhaps that is just easier for them to handle. My appointment with Dr. Covalt was extremely negative. I arrived a few minutes late, it took quite a long time to get checked in and when I arrived upstairs the Dr. sent out an assistant to let me know that they might not be able to see me. I was fine with this and asked to be rescheduled. She said that was not necessary and it turned out that the person who had the appointment after me was a no show so they were going to be able to see me. During my appointment the assistant mentioned that there was an error in my appt and that they had me down for a well check and since i had mentioned I had an issue that these were actually going to be 2 separate appts. She asked which one I would like to do and I said that the well check was more important. She got the items ready for the well check and asked me to get into a gown. Half way through undressing Dr. Covalt burst in (didn't knock) and said "we don't have time for this! Get dressed and I'll be in in 5 minutes." I'm not sure what kind of patients they are used to working with, but I am not ok with this lack of privacy, rudeness and just plain lack of class. So, apparently since the appointment ladies made a mistake in scheduling 2 different things for me, Dr. Covalt was going to decide which one of them she had time to do whether i liked it or not. They don't seem inclined to update their system after a payment has been made. I paid my bill off on 6 June, yet I just received a nastygram dated 22 June telling me that if I don't pay my balance due they will take legal action. Seriously? Because it has been THREE WEEKS since I paid that. I won't go back if I can help it. If they're this incompetent with billing then I can just imagine the incompetence if I went for anything other than some blood pressure meds. read more

I am not impressed with DaVita. The only doctor I will continue to see through DaVita practices is Dr. Webber with the allergy clinic, he works diligently hard and is very pleasant to talk to about issues. But on the other hand, I had gone to an initial appointment with Dr. Alice Cole. She did her job but beyond that she was not the most welcoming person Nor someone I would trust fully with advice. But I needed a follow up appointment so I booked one with her again right before I end up moving back up to northern Colorado which was an appointment that was time sensitive. Well i show up to go to my appointment and turns out there was no record of me having the freaking appointment, so i showed them the written card reminder from last time and the receptionist agrees that she remembers booking me she just didn't know why it wasn't in the system. So instead of helping me out with their mistake they made i was just sent out the door and wasted 80 minutes in driving there and back. I was LIVID. Now I'm trying to book one in northern Colorado that takes my insurance (which is a needle in a haystack) and they need a referral from Dr. Alice Cole and supposedly there's no record of me they can fax over... even though I had a test panel done there two weeks ago. Very very sloppy work over at that building. Not impressed and not too sure how this medical group is still in business considering it sounds like I'm not the only one who is annoyed with all their antics. All of a sudden after a few years of going there for appointments for my daughter and I, they suddenly changed the insurance providers they took and never mentioned it to me. Until one time I went in like normal right, and get this: I really needed to get in to get seen for my allergic reaction/excema skin rash that was spreading rapidly and making me stay up all night itching and shit ( excuse the dang french yo) and then they decide to tell me this after I showed up for the appointment I BOOKED A couple weeks prior like wtf is wrong with people. I check my mail and emails on a regular basis and not once recieved something that I should have a long time ago when they you know....CHANGED PROVIDERS lol. They can lose a patient, business, revenue, and my money I would have given them from MY co payments but they had to gone go and fuck it up for themselves. But its ok now they can get this trash review from me myself and I, Bye. read more

Beware , this place and its doctors are horrible! I recently moved to Colorado Springs and was looking for a new GP. Somehow I phone my way to CSHP and Dr. Smolev. I told the doctor what medications my previous physician had prescribed me for the past 10 years. He proceeded to insult my previous doctors intelligence and told me he wanted to switch my medication to something he thought would suit my condition better. The medication he prescribed was for a completely different condition and made my symptoms worse than they have ever been! Upon speaking to another physician I was told there was no reason for me to ever receive this medication. After a little research I found out this doctor received his medical training at a school that is run and owned by DeVry Tech Schools and the location of the school is in Dominican Republic. If that's not bad enough I have since received bills in the mail for an extra $145 on top of the $125 I paid at the time of visit. Tried to call the billing department five times and each time am told I will receive a follow-up call from a supervisor so that the matter can be resolved. I have not received any calls just more bills. read more

My wife called no less than 5 times to make certain that Dr Belle would be able AND willing to take me as a patient as I have many health issues including 3 that will require extensive surgery and we didn't want to just drop my current doctor for an iffy one. We were told sure, no problem, we take pain patients, bring $125. Repeatedly she called to MAKE CERTAIN this doctor would not just take our money and shuffle me off to a pain specialist every month just to pick up a script when I ALREADY HAVE A DOC that meets all but my surgical needs...I don't need a bunch of pills handed to me, I needed good surgery referrals. Since we had to pay cash out of pocket for the visit, she was VERY meticulous in checking and re-checking the full price...$125 for a new cash patient. We showed up, $125, ALL our months groceries. Can and will he do this? Yes. We get there and the FIRST thing out of his mouth is 'I'm not comfortable taking you without new MRI, Xray, and 5 specialist reports (despite the fact we had current MRI and Xrays)" all of which had to be paid out of pocket. We felt like they pulled a bait and switch, walked out without filling out the paperwork, called them and told them to forget it. Imagine our shock when we received a bill for ANOTHER $100! When we called to find out why, we were told the $125 was now a DEPOSIT! THE WORD DEPOSIT NEVER EVER CROSSED THEIR LIPS BEFORE! STAY AWAY, RUN, RUN FAST, RUN FAR TO A REAL DOCTOR.
