My experience for my daugther's vocal classes with this music school was very frustrating due to their selfish payment system, lack of transparency, and inflexible scheduling policies. Their structure is designed entirely for their own benefit. Unfair and Inflexible Payment System---The school charges $165 per month for 30-minute private lessons, assuming four lessons per month (48 per year). However, during months with fewer lessons--such as the holiday season, when only two lessons are available--they still charge the full amount. They claim to "make up" missed lessons later, but their rescheduling system is ineffective and difficult to use. Make-up lessons are unreliable---These are only scheduled based on teacher availability, which is extremely limited. My assigned teacher was rarely available outside the regular schedule, making it nearly impossible to take the make-up lessons. This is the main reason I decided to stop the lesson, and I believe at end of the year, unhappy issue with them will arise. And recently I realized it is worse than I thought, I am glad I canceled it earlier. Strict and unfair lesson duration policy: The school does not allow extended lessons unless the next student cancels, making it impossible to adjust lesson times to fit students' needs. They only offer 30 min even if I willing to do 45 or 60 min. Unqualified Substitute Teachers---When my assigned teacher was unavailable, the school scheduled me with a different teacher. While they did inform me of the change, I expected the replacement to be equally qualified. However, it was disappointing. I pay $40 around for a 30 min, I do not want to take another chance to waste money, so I clearly told them no more other teacher including group class. And it turns out even worse than my concern. Over time, I accumulated three group class credits instead of private lessons. When I followed up to schedule them, I was suddenly informed that my assigned teacher does not conduct group classes--something they never disclosed upfront. My only options were, Convert three 45-minute group class credits into just one 30-minute private lesson, which was unfair or take the group classes with another teacher, which I had already stated I did not want. If they been honest about this from the beginning, I never would have agreed to the group class setup. When I questioned why I was never told that my teacher doesn't do group lessons, their explanations kept changing--first saying that the teacher simply doesn't teach group classes, then later claiming group lessons are scheduled based on "instructor availability." This dishonest and inconsistent communication was extremely frustrating. When I asked if I could wait until my teacher became available, they could not provide a timeline, I am guessing that my teacher never conducted group lessons in the first place. Anyway, my impression, this school prioritizes its own convenience over the students' needs. Their lack of transparency, rigid payment structure, and poor scheduling system made it a frustrating experience. A fairer system would charge based on actual lessons received rather than enforcing a flat monthly rate regardless of cancellations or holiday breaks or when teacher is not available. At the end of the day, I am less concerned about losing the remaining lessons and more frustrated by the school's unfair treatment, misleading policies, and refusal to take responsibility for their poor scheduling system. I would not recommend this school to anyone looking for a fair, flexible, and student-focused music education. read more

The school makes sure to celebrate their students' progress and skills with awards and level up pins, which I like. We recently did a recital with the encouragement of her teacher and she did so well! I love seeing her confidence grow and the staffs were genuinely supportive. My boys 7 and 9 have been attending Opus for piano lessons since August of 2023. They love their private lessons with Ms Migiwa. As a parent I appreciate the service, location, and care they provide. The advantage here is the convenience of scheduling and regular reminders of upcoming lessons and recitals. The facility is modern and clean. There are a variety of well qualified teachers who can also serve as backups to one another should your normal teacher be ill or out. All the kids coming here are well behaved and seem enthusiastic about their lessons which to me implies that the teachers are doing a great job. I also like having all of their assignments sent after the lessons to me via email which is great so I can keep track and know exactly what they need to complete for their next lesson. Opus also has opportunities for your child to explore other musical avenues and not just one type of instrument should you decide to change. We've stuck with piano thus far to get them going but I like that the option is there and opportunity to get a trial to let them explore if we want to do that. read more

We have been with Opus Music School for almost a year and we are loving it! Opus offers a variety of instruments lessons and have qualified and music teachers. The front desk staff are very nice. Met the owner and she is very nice and cares about the students and values parents feedback. One child learns drums and other learns piano. We got very lucky to have both kids start at same day and time. The lesson is private one on one. In terms of scheduling, they will work with your schedule. Make-up classes are available on weekends as group lesson. Opus also offers recitals several times a year if you are interested in participating. In addition, Opus always have fun challenges for the students to motivate and reward them. My kids love the iHeart boba drink rewards they have sometimes. Opus had event last year at iHeart boba store to allow students who want to perform live in a public setting. It was a good experience for students to perform in their natural way and learn to overcome nervousness. The music school is clean and well maintained. The front lobby have seating areas, free coffee and water, and free wifi! Even on the second floor they have seats for parents if the child has lesson on 2nd floor. We take our 5 year old twins to Ms. Theresa for piano lessons and she is wonderful with them. I like that you can see and hear how the lesson is going and what they are covering. We aren't comfortable leaving our kids with anyone outside of family so the fact that the doors are open while the lesson is taking place is a big plus. As far as the lessons go, she makes it fun and will let parents know what they are learning, what to expect going forward, what they need to do at home (yes they get homework), etc. The most important part is the twins love it and they are learning. Also, the prices are reasonable and in line with other music schools. She gave us a sibling discount as well as a free lesson for pre-paying for 3 months in advance. The lessons are one-on-one so she is only focusing on your child for the full half hour. She also gave us two workbooks for each child that we bring to class every week and the homework is assigned from those books. One book even has a CD so you can get the children familiar with the songs at home. The boys look forward to piano class every week and come home excited to show us what they learned. I had to brush up on my piano skills for a family company event, and was referred to opus. Theresa guided and help refreshen what I had forgotten in a matter of months! believe me when I say I am impressed. my learning abilities at this age are not so hot. she was very knowledgable and patient with me which worked out perfectly since I am super impatient and mind wanders quickly. needless to say things went without a hitch at the company event and got many complments on my performance!!! My piano teacher, Patricia, is beyond amazing. Her technique and way of communicating fits my learning capacity perfectly well. I find myself looking forward to each lesson and is extremely happy with how far she has helped me grow. My schedule has always been a bit haywire due to multiple jobs but the receptionists has always been more than accomodating. I deal more with Laura and shes just an awesome person to speak with. Theresa is simply a fantastic piano teacher! Not just for kids but for adults too! I had always wanted to play piano but never got a chance to do so when I was younger, so I sign up for lessons with my older daughter when she was 5. She enjoyed it so much that it got our younger daughter interested. Now our daughters are 6 & 4 and all three of us take lessons from Theresa and we all love it! Theresa is probably way over-qualified for teaching kids, with her masters degree in music and all, but you can just tell she does it because she enjoys it. The materials she uses for little kids are very fun for kids, and Theresa has a way getting kids to love playing piano. She uses different materials for adults and teaches in a different style tailored towards adults, and it's very effective. She has the standard teaching materials but is flexible in her teaching and will mix up the traditional materials with some pop songs that I'm interested in, and I'm able to play some pop songs just a few months after taking lessons with her! Theresa builds up a great rapport with the kids and uses lots of positive reinforcement in her feedback; our daughters always finish up their lessons with a big smile on their faces. The best thing about Theresa is that she tailors her teaching style to her student, and she makes it fun for little kids. That's the most important thing in my opinion. We wanted a piano teacher that could develop our daughters' interest in music and make they fall in love with it, and that's precisely what Theresa has done. Once they fall in love with it, they'll motivate themselves to practice without you prompting. Theresa hit the nail on the head on this front. The downside to Opus... there's only one Theresa, and with the rave reviews she received, her time slots filled up quick. The other teachers there seem great tool, I just don't know them as well as I know Theresa. read more

Ms. Theresa is such a great teacher! She is super patient and supportive. She is very down to earth and friendly but also expects a level of professionalism and commitment. I was nervous to start piano lessons as an adult, thinking it would be odd for someone who usually teaches kids, but Ms. Theresa never made me feel anything but really comfortable.
