When I called the office after the incident on 5/27/26 in an effort to resolve the matter professionally, El appeared very indifferent regarding both our experience and our history as patients of the practice. During the conversation, she expressed that she was tired of speaking with us and asked what we hoped to gain from the conversation, which made me feel dismissed and devalued as a patient. At one point, it also felt as though she was attempting to end or hang up on the conversation rather than help find a resolution. Please do not perceive like there was an attempt to resolve the situation on Google reviews by asking me to call the office. Because of the negative interaction with El, I would prefer for a different staff member or member of management to contact me moving forward, as I have already made the effort to call the office myself in hopes of resolving this matter respectfully. As of this review 5/29, it has been 24 hours since this unfortunate and distressing situation occurred at ORA Dental Studio Gold Coast, and no one from the office has attempted to reach out to resolve the matter, despite the fact that I made the initial phone call after the interaction in an effort to address the issue with their front office team professionally and respectfully. As a healthcare provider, it is in the best interest of any practice to value, retain, and care for its patients. Unfortunately, this experience reinforced my belief that this business operates more transactionally than relationally. Their poor communication affected not only one patient, but two, and at no point was there accountability taken for the clear miscommunication. What was most disappointing was being met with a lack of respect, empathy, humility, professionalism, and compassion throughout the situation. Long-term loyalty no longer appears to matter to this office, despite years of support and trust placed in their care. To further add to the frustration, I even requested copies of my dental X-rays yesterday and still have not received a response from the office staff. The continued lack of communication and follow-through has only added to the disappointment surrounding this entire experience. Patients deserve compassion, communication, professionalism, grace, and understanding -- especially long-term loyal patients. Employees should never be placed in positions where they stop viewing their work as a calling to serve others and begin seeing it only as a paycheck. BEWARE and NEVER do your Invisalign's here. I started the process in July 2022. I paid $5,000 and never got the proper treatment nor the product. My initial aligners never fitted properly. I have pictures of the malpractice conduct. When I needed new aligners because the poor fit, the practice delayed the order and I WAITED FOR 10 WEEKS! When the aligners arrived they were still not fitting. I continued the treatment once again because I paid everything upfront. The second time this happened I was at the end of the treatment. I completed 30 aligners and my teeth never got straight!! There was intentional malpractice in my case. I started Invisalign just for cosmetic reasons and appearance, my teeth are an easy case, but this "dental practice" intentionally complicated everything. Next I had to wait again for EXTRA 10 weeks for new aligners. The practice never provided proper answers and continued blaming Invisalign for their malpractice and mistakes. The doctor wanted me to wear the same aligners for 20 weeks combined although he's aware of the poor hygiene and germs that caught on these aligners. You supposed to wear the aligners for a week and replace them, but because the office lied about ordering my aligners on time, THE WANTEF ME TO WEAR THE SAME ALIGNERS FOR 20 WEEKS!!! I NEVER GOT MY MONEY BACK. MY TEETH NEVER GOT STRAIGHT. THEY GOT WORSE. The practice never provided any solutions but always chose the strategy of blaming Invisalign. Any other dental practice will tell you that it takes one week at most to get your Invisalign. The worst part is that ORA took my $5,000 still keeping the money for doing a terrible job and then asking me to pay them a $250 bill that they doubled to $500. At Ora Dental Studio, patient care is NOT of the utmost concern. I came for a cleaning and noted my latex allergy. Given the commonality of this allergy, it's something you would expect anyone in the healthcare industry to take quite seriously. I had a great cleaning and the hygienist ensured to take care and use latex-free gloves. However, when Dr. Kralj came in he failed to take the same safety precautions as the hygienist and used latex gloves. I, unfortunately, had a terrible allergic reaction that required medical attention. I called Ora to obtain the facts and let them know what happened and I was told their system was "down" and Dr. Kralj didn't see the allergy noted in the system (but oddly the hygienist did). They informed me that the system was now corrected. I'm not sure what I expected but all I got was a "We're sorry" from the receptionist. I asked to speak to someone else and I never heard anything more. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth and left me concerned for the experiences of others at this office. In short, Dr. Kralj came off as arrogant and rather flippant. Surprisingly, I received a call regarding a six month appointment. I reiterated my experience just months prior to the receptionist and asked for a call back as I did not care for how this situation was handled. It's been weeks and I still haven't heard anything. I had been going there for almost a year and had GREAT experience with the doctor and assistance there until the new receptionist showed up. She is totally a joke... Twice whenever I start to have a conversation (One for asking Wisdom Teeth referral and another time to reschedule an appointment), she was very impatience, cold and absolutely rude. How to review a place that you didn't even make it past the waiting room. Walked in and receptionist was very cold and unfriendly. After 5 minutes of silence while she looks up my paper work. She responds "please be seated". I wait 5 minutes until friendly comes back and tells me. "We don't accept federal programs for insurance". Ok...I try to explain and tell her it's through a provider that listed them on their website she smiles and repeats "no we don't accept it." I can not help that my spouse works for the federal government and and that his insurance is that. I don't think I would recommend this group to my worst enemy. I am putting a lot out there right now considering I will still most likely have to return back awkwardly for a repair as this has followed suit for now five weeks. On 9/12/19 was my first appointment, decided to get veneers right away with Dr. Raoof, $3000 upfront, no problem, lets move on and get it done. YEAH OK. I had no idea how the veneer process went, but from how it was explained to me by Dr. Raoof, pretty easy peasy! Just go to this lab, have them "match" your tooth (with an iphone), in a week it'll be ready and all will be happy. I was even a bit weary about a week - WEEK? it was more like 9 business days... the temporaries fell off FIVE TIMEEEES. Finally! the permanents veneers come in - great! EXCEPT THEY LOOK LIKE THAT FRIENDS EPISODE WITH ROSS AND THE BLEACHED TEETH WITH THE BLACK LIGHT. I am fairly good about keeping my composure, so I did, and went BACK to the "lab", had to get other temps on (that fell off again when I was having my family over) - which is not only embarrassing but painful. Sidenote: I missed work which I am a provider so that was cool because I got a one day suspension. Because of this. Fast forward now - to today. (I'll spare you the details of Dr. Kralj being over 25 minutes late last weekend because he mis-read a text message) - just a quick scope of what you might potentially be dealing with as he diagnosed me with "extreme hypersensitivity" LOL MY PERMANENT VENEER FELL OUT 6 DAYS LATER. PERMANENT. VENEER. Clearly I knew something was up because it flew out of my face today. Okay - so as of 10/14/19: I have been to Ora dental now 10 times. TEN. in 6 weeks. Awkwardly, I texted him... to which he responded with: "Gina, I spoke with the team at River North and Dr. Shohreh Raoof and it is my recommendation that you have this issue taken care of with her as your her patient of record. Also, I do not have any appointments available as I am booked solid into next week. Once they re-cement the veneer I informed them to immediately take an impression and will make you a Nightguard that will be available to you the next day for you to pick up (not true). After talking to you last week it appears that the primary reason your temporaries and this veneer came off, and for the recent pain, is because you are a heavy grinder and/or clencher, daytime as well you mentioned. This has nothing to do with Dr. Raoof's technique, happens to the best of us. In addition to getting the Nigtguard I recommend you look into botox for TMJ that will help you relax those muscles, I can get you a referral for that as well." I SAID I MIGHT GRIND MY TEETH DURING THE DAY. "heavy grinder during the day?" goodbye. no. never once has dentist mentioned me grinding to my teeth to the point a potential permanent veneer might fly out a week later. My response: "I prefer not to see Dr. Raoof" (and I explained to her why - wouldn't you want to see the owner of the practice as well after you have basically dedicated the equivalent amount of time OF A PART TIME JOB the last month?) His response: "Gina, Dr. Raoof is available tonight to take care of this and get you the Nightguard by tomorrow. You will need to work this out with her so please call her." -- sidenote: nightguard: not ready tomorrow. JESUS CHRIST. I feel like I'm in an E! reality TV show bc it's such a joke. I don't want to work anything out with anyone! For $3000 and NINE TRIPS to the dentist - am I now working for you? I am the customer, right? So, upon reflection, here is my re summary: 9 trips include: 1 initial visit, 1 trip to the lab to have my teeth taken pics of by an iphone, 5 times temporaries fell out (once at a wedding which was awesome), once (1) getting the "ross from friends" look, (1) one more trip back to the lab, (1) return back to the dentist to get temps put back on, 1 more trip to get the new permanents that actually looked great, AND NOW THEY FELL OUT AGAIN THIS MORNING so one more trip = so, actually 10 was being generous! Actually 12. If it wasn't for Dr. Raoof's assistant, Valerie, I don't know what I would do - but it for sure would not be as nice as this yelp review to which people should absolutely KNOW what they are getting into! Customer service training is definitely needed for the young ladies that answer the phone. However, my biggest complaint would be with the insurance coordinator they have on hand, Ella. Literally the worst attitude and completely unhelpful. I don't know if she woke up on the wrong side of the bed or frustrated with life itself however, her attitude was completely unprofessional and unpleasant. My review is only for the teeth whitening, not the general dentistry practice. I haven't had any dental work done here, only the Zoom! teeth whitening. I bought the Groupon for the teeth whitening a few months ago and was super excited about it. The office is very nice, the decor is modern and simple. It's a new office, and I get the feeling they chose decor and finishing based on looks, not on practicality. The sink in the bathroom...really?? Did someone tell you people would pay more for dental work if you have a funky sink? Something about the unusable space in the waiting room makes me uncomfortable. The room is set up odd, it's pretty, but odd. The chair in the office they do the teeth whitening in is not a dentists chair. It's a massage chair. A massage chair and dental work do not mix. While the hygienist was prepping my teeth for the whitening all I could think was "this is really awkward. This would be so much easier if she were sitting on my lap". I'm pretty sure that last part means my need for efficiency has finally taken over my life and I kept my thoughts to myself. But, still, it was awkward. There was a tv screen with an interesting, but static, screen saver on it right in front of the massage chair. I assumed, wrongly, that it would keep me entertained during my 1.5 hour appointment. Nope! You're just left there to stare at the wall. The hygienist seemed to do a good job, I didn't hear any "Oh crap!" or "Dammit!" while she was prepping my teeth. She didn't say much of anything at all actually. A simple "this is the such and such stuff that does this and that" would've been nice. It was a clear case of people that do the same thing every day and assume the rest of the world knows the drill too. I don't. I'd like to know what you're doing to my mouth (that's what she said). In the end, my teeth are a bit whiter, and I saved a whole bunch of money on the process. **This is a response to being accused of false accusations: Although it is unethical of Dr. Kralj to disclose my records as he just did in his petty response, I would be more than happy to make them public along with all of my documentation from other dentists and an approval by my insurance company that he made false charges and records. He has been contacted regarding this matter on 5/22/17, 6/2/17, 6/22,17, 7/14/17, 8/4/17, and finally 4/25/18. All of which he has ignored and refused to refund myself and my insurance for these charges. I cannot be accused of false accusations when I have all of the proof. The gum contouring was incredibly quick, simple, and painless. I'm about 3 months into my Invisalign process and I am excited for the results. GREAT cleanings/check-ups. The office is also very nice and setting up appointments is quite easy. They also have a lot of financing offers that I find very flexible and convenient. However, I'm having a bit of a worrisome Invisalign experience. First off, I would explore other options and not settle with your first consultation. Just because someone is a top provider doesn't mean they're the best. I found my first visit after initially committing to be subpar. For one, you should ask and expect to receive your clincheck well before they order you a full treatment. While there is an outcome simulation you receive during the initial consultation, it is nowhere near as accurate and detailed as your clincheck. It doesn't look like this is something they go over with you at Ora. I, for one, would have liked to see what my teeth are going to look like at the end of treatment before dropping $$$$. Dr. Kralj was not present during my first appointment to talk through the treatment plan. The dental assistant couldn't provide specific details about my plan and it took 3 tries to glue attachments onto my teeth. I was also provided contradicting information about the use of aligners from Dr. Kralj and his assistant. Not once during this visit was I informed on what was being done to my teeth. Also, I shouldn't have to ask 1) how many aligners I'm going to have and 2) how to clean the aligners. These are all fundamental questions that should have been addressed long before anything was put in my mouth. The attachments were glued and I was shown how to take them off and on... That was about all that happened. I would also read the fine print on your final contract carefully. I am being charged for the originally "quoted" amount even though I have less aligners than expected. I was told that "refinements would bring your treatment more in line" with what was quoted. This seems incorrect as refinements, according to the contract I signed, are included in your treatment plan at no additional cost. Not too happy with how things are going so far (these things also feel awful and are cutting up my tongue) but I'm hoping things will improve... read more

In my opinion, it's disingenuous when companies ask you to rate them after every visit -- and ORA Dental Studio abuses this more than any other company I know. If you look at their reviews on Birdeye or Yelp, please remember that these reviews are submitted by the same people, multiple times. After every visit, they send me 2-3 emails and a text message to rate them. Similar to Uber, it's easier to just say 5-stars and a brief review than to give them an actual review. So please do not be deceived. As far as their treatment, ORA dental studio is busy. It's hard to get a follow-up appointment, and I have also had trouble communicating with members of their team in a timely manner. I had invisalign for 19 weeks, and I still needed additional adjustments after they removed my initial treatment. I understand this isn't their fault, but I was disappointed to learn that I would need an additional 15+ weeks of aligners after told me that I would only need 5-6 weeks. Ora Gold Coast is truly fantastic. Dr. Kralj and his team do top-knotch work and are so so so gentle. They truly care about the comfort of their patients. I've had a wide range of procedures done here from teeth cleaning (the oral hygienist was also super awesome) to getting a crown. I've never had a complaint about any of it. The front desk attendant is always friendly and helpful, too. The facility is super clean and modern. The rooms are very private, too. And sometimes they play some good jams over the radio! I finally bit the bullet and found myself a dentist in the city. After 25 years with a family dentist, that can be a daunting task, but I was referred here by a friend. The office and waiting area were spotless and swanky. I also was impressed with the exam rooms. I had my first cleaning with Kim and she did a great job- she was really gentle and didn't shame me for my less than stellar flossing record. The dentist was thorough and found a few areas that needed work, so I booked a second appointment for some drilling and filling. The receptionist gave me an idea of the cost of my next appointment before I even left the office, and that was greatly appreciated. My second appointment was just as smooth although less enjoyable because no one WANTS a filling. There was minimal pain and they really took the time to be sure that the fillings weren't too high. Finally, the doctor reiterated what I've heard for a while: that I grind my teeth and should use a mouth guard. I sort of told him that I considered a mouth guard to be the ultimate cock-block and he quipped that no, actually having your teeth worn down to the point where you need dentures is worse. bravo! finally a dentist where I feel comfortable and cozy....yes, those chairs were comfy! this place is the real deal, and pretty swanky. i had a wonderful experience at the south loop location a few years back with dr. koos for my wisdom teeth troubles.... so i decided to check out this location for a long overdue cleaning. let me say...i was impressed! Kelly was one of the best hygienists I've experienced, she not only made me feel comfortable but she also didn't shun me for not having my teeth cleaned for two years. (thanks Kelly!) the receptionist was informative, professional and friendly. she went over everything with me after my appointment regarding billing / insurance. the dentist was friendly, and while finding some areas that needed work, wasn't pushy. this is much appreciated! i liked how everyone made me feel welcome, and even though i know my teeth have some problem areas, they didn't make me feel bad about it...they offered me a solution, and told me to think it over before making a decision on where to go next. there was no pushing or shoving here! if you are thinking of making an appointment here...what are you waiting for? you won't regret it. thank you ora dental! read more
